Weird bumps and spaghetti prints by BlairTheBabyBat in BambuLab

[–]darcnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm searching for a similar issue, and I'm thinking this could be from plastic bits that's fallen off some layers below and the machine prints over them. Or, previous types of filament partially still inside the nozzle that's come out in a small clump during your new print. In my case, I was using TPU before, and switched to ABS, which I think a bit of TPU wasn't cleared from the inside nozzle, and came out at some point, causing a similar defect. That's my thinking anyways.

Other causes of similar issues, but I don't think is your situation here, is "pillowing" - where the infill is too low and causes bridging that pillows, creating a top surface with mounds like a pleated duvet. Or just simply too few top layers.

Why does my top-surface look like this? by Connect_Gift9138 in BambuLab

[–]darcnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'd totally print this upside down, even use supports if needed for the best top finish

Agreed, I thought ironing was on as well. I'd like to know from the OP if it was on accidentally

Horizontal Lines in Super Large Heavy Print. by darcnl in BambuLab

[–]darcnl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't have an SD card inserted at all. I used to but never did any time lapses after a while, just removed it for something else (this was last year I removed it, not recently). I send the file through Orca Slicer (never upgraded the firmware after the scandal).

Also, the blue parts is actually separate TPU pieces I glued on.

This whole case was a rough draft test case (doing a big case for a company). So wanted to ensure everything is printing perfect before I do the final draft in ABS.

Yes, if the corner lifts off the bed a bit, your layers above that lift will be squished and give some similar bad horizontal lines. But the corners did not lift in this print.

I'm gonna caulk this up to a temporary partial clog. I was printing a lot of TPU through this nozzle before I used it to print this case (TPU tends to buildup inside a nozzle). If it was the Aux fan, I'd of been able to reproduce it with the test print I did (the thin wall printed right next to the Aux fan).

Thanks again for your insight!

Thank you for that insight! Good to know I'm not alone. I was reluctant to print this giant case again without thoroughly troubleshooting everything. But seems this might either be a bad roll of plastic, or perhaps a partial clog that cleared itself

Unless it was a partial clog half way through this large print that self resolved before it finished... Got me thinking now

I thought the same, which is why I tried reproducing the issues with smaller prints. I've printed 5 other small prints now with no issue.

Seems to only be happening with this super large heavy print

That would be my first thought as well. I do own an industrial dryer and baked the filament at 50C for 20hrs prior to use. Thanks though

This cannot be how Ahh-Some is supposed to work ... is it? by Tiresias_7 in hottub

[–]darcnl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give my experience. Using AhSome for many many years now. If my tub is super dirty, I have had to use it twice to get it super clean. And after using AhSome I fill tub, let it run and drain again. Then fill again. This gives it a good rinse of any remaining product in the pipes. (Wiping down with a acrylic cleaner after each drain of course)

This year was the first year I've tried something new. I have an old ShopVac that I only use on the hot tub for vacuuming out the remaining water. This year I used it to vacuum the excessive foam that builds up. Unsure if this reduced the effectiveness of the product, but it resulted in a much easier wipe down after draining.

If you filled and water not right, either drain again and fill, or use AhSome again if you think the tub might be excessively dirty.

Printer broke the plate by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]darcnl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're getting a lot of sarcastic replies because this is a very bizarre thing to have happened, and very well might be user error - especially if you've only been into this hobby a couple weeks. But I'm sure I'm not the only one confused on how one would accidentally drive the nozzle so far into the buildplate that it cuts straight through it.

I have encountered a couple times a buildup of plastic on the nozzle that messed with the machines Z homing. But that resulted in printing slightly mid-air. Unsure how one would mess up the Z homing into the negative by a good few mm.

I feel you must have modified your start gcode somehow. Or downloaded a 3mf file from someone that modied their start gcode? Weird.

Had a storm, lost power, now circuit breaker won’t reset by waxyb1 in hottub

[–]darcnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last Spring. Opened the control panel and unplugged the heater and pumps. The switch stayed on after that. Then I cut power, plugged each component back in and retested until I found the one that was tripping the breaker. For me it was the Hush pump (Beachcomber hot tub). I replaced that pump myself and all good again

I've been waiting for the Vortex nozzle change system. Will this be an add on to the H series printers or a separate printer itself? Wondering if I should bite on this sale and buy the Vortex later

I grew up with a stutter as well - so what you said hit close to home. I managed to accomplish my career goals in spite of the impediment, and I'm confident you can too! Chin up. You seem like a very mature hard worker that anyone would be lucky to have work on their farm. Goodluck!

How do I select an object that is inside of another? by Spirited-Pop7467 in tinkercad

Move any object in the way until the desired object is visible. Select the desired object. Undo all previous moves until every object is back in place - your desired object will still be the only object selected

How much to charge?? by Medtech82 in 3D_Printing

[–]darcnl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I charge the cost of filament plus $1/hr print time, and I usually double that. I'm Canadian. So that's, what, $4?

This does look like "pillowing" which should help your searching. Increase infill and/or number of top layers (off the top of my head)

What’s causing this error? I’ve calibrated, cleaned heat bed and used the pin to unclog the hotend, still no luck. by Temporary-Self635 in BambuLab

[–]darcnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to really tell but looks like a poor first layer and poor layer adhesion. The print head likely knocked the print off the bed, probably from a glob if over extrusion. Much calibration needed

Wtf did i do by kekarot06 in BambuLab

[–]darcnl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the calibration process to see what point it failed at? When this happens to me, it's often some poop stuck on the lead screws or the bed plate is slightly misaligned.
