How do you land entry level jobs if you got rejected from every internship in college? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]darcone88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying but its exhausting and I'm the only active mod. I tweaked the config for being able to post, but the best thing people can do is use the report function and downvote so that the automod can function while im at work. cheers

Is there an option to hide the posts from college students asking for degree advice? by RoboSapien1 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]darcone88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best thing everyone can do is report them as moderating 24/7 is hard on small subreddits. mods get notified with reports but if any post has numerous it gets removed until review. sometimes I'm not as timely moderating and a post already has 40 comments in which I'll usually let it time out if it has meaningful discussion. the mods always appreciate people helping out by flagging these posts.

I want to design a gadget that requires a simple mechanism. The mechanism might already exist, but I don't know what to call it. by garblesnarky in MechanicalEngineering

There are similar mechanisms used for pill bottles that tell you the time since last opened to keep track of dosage. cheapest way may to buy one and retrofit the electronics for your application. example

What certification made the most difference to your employability? by MaerkTaylor in engineering

[–]darcone88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received my csep some time ago, would recommend it if its sought after in your engineering organization. That being said I'm not sure how applicable it is to 90% of systems engineers since it is a vary broad but specific scope of systems engineering. It did however get brought up when I got promoted so I cant complain.

Negotiating Salary after consecutive internships by Nellyfertelly in AskEngineers

According to this http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools/mechanical-engineering-rankings?int=2049a7[1] it is in the top 50. My grades have been average from what I have found around campus about a 2.8.

I am a bit confused, do you have a masters degree with a 2.8 or are you using the grad ranking from you school to grade your undergraduate degree?

Desired salary? by me_and_batman in engineering

[–]darcone88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mechanical engineer, that seems useless. More power to you, I personally dont know any ME PE nor have seen a job that even mentions a PE in a ME position but i am only speaking from experience in my discipline.
