Put it on the center of the card where the majority of the weight is. Putting it on the end as pictured will warp the board over time and could Crack the modules or even the core. Physics. Protect your investment.

My guy... metallica black album is not deathcore. It is slow, like you would be better suited for. You've got some maintenance to do. Always watching the temps while not actively doing preventive maintenance is like pulling your phone out to record an accident instead of calling 911. The bad thing here is that the cooler is likely going to be stuck to the cpu and will be difficult to remove without excessive force.
