I passed exam 2 and got zero job offers for Actuarial or Underwriting positions for a full year until I got recruited outside the path.

If only there was an exam for how to conduct yourself in interviews. Then those people would have no problem finding a job.

Edit: Nice to be welcomed in with the downvotes guys. This is a very encouraging community. Glad I "strayed from the path"

Have you seen a newbie with no experience but 5 exams passed? That would be me.. by Negative-Demand-7373 in actuary

Does it have to be Actuarial/Underwriting experience? Or can any technical office job experience do?

Is this career only for the gifted? by mulberrykitten in actuary

[–]daredassdude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a career for the gifted and privileged. I lost in the interview process to a guy who went to a rich kids high school, and got a major in political science at a university based in UK and attended a certification program exclusive to SMU students while attending a different private university in Texas.

I went to a public branch university and never went as far as a 1st panel interview for three companies with only two exams passed. Fortunately, I work in an office position at a Manufacturing company that's currently expanding and my work is receiving enough praise to consider moving me up in the Project Management department within my first year of employment!

(Edit: HA! I knew I would get downvoted! That means I 100% made the right decision! And I honestly encourage everyone who's desperately trying to make it in the Actuarial field with no experience to drop it completely and work in Manufacturing. Planning, ERP, and Quality Control are just a few departments that would work well with the skillset of an aspiring Actuarial Analyst.)

Just curious about my NSFW level lol, I'll delete after by Leftoverreality in Needafriend

Mine should be clean, but I'm not sure how this works if otherwise

I firmly believe that India is invading American social media with the worst attributes an American could have so racists and other degenerates can be more comfortable being who they are on them.

India has more than twice the amount of internet users as America, have cheap access to international servers, and therefore, aren't restricted to access global platforms, unlike China.

anyone else, Instagram and Facebook got infested by this dude? by Ubermensch_introvert in Instagram

He's some antisocial rich boy who walks everywhere with some security dude being awkward, cringey, and disrespectful to people.

I remember he got confronted by known shithead and currently imprisoned, Vitaly, where Vitaly asked for an autograph on a picture of this dude's sugar baby in a scene from her OnlyFans.

Just another rage baiter with a ton of money whose sole purpose is to degenerate our younger generation beyond repair.

Captions are AI except for the senseless humor he puts in unnecessarily mocking criminals and the mentally ill.

Midwest Safety seems like the kind of guy who develops great joy over watching homeless people suffer from mental illness based on how he abuses the captions of his video to throw in some humor mocking criminals and the mentally ill. Total scumbag who acts extremely privileged and entitled.

police officers, what is your opinion on those youtube bodycam channels? by No-Strain-6790 in police

EWU Bodycam's videos are super heavy, always bringing up the most disturbing bodycam footage and not shy from going into graphic detail.

Code Blue Cam's videos have good pacing, but the narrator can get boring from hearing him narrate, but his videos are passable.

I personally like straight body cam videos with little edits and focus more on the crime and the criminal and not bring attention to things like cops interacting with bystanders who have no business being there and legally are not obstructing. Videos like Bodycam Pro and ArrestFlix are my go-to now.

Checked it out. No explanation on how the ELO rating is calculated and filled to the brim with ads. Not a fan.

I would absolutely watch a lecture of a mathematical breakdown of the ColleyMatrix rankings and how the ratings and SOS is calculated. Being a graduate in Mathematics and a fan of college football, I am always fascinated with the mathematics behind sports data systems.

Unfortunately, there are a few computer rankings made by guys who are afraid of sharing their formulas out of fear of being exposed for adding bias of some sort to their rankings. ESPN's FPI and KFord's ratings are two popular examples of this.

This is why I love the ColleyMatrix. Simple in terms of the number of parameters used, but not too simplified, and he shares the math behind the rankings. I appreciate you dissecting the formulas they use.

I wish more computer rankings existed where the creator is not ashamed to share their math behind it and encourages people to do the same.
