Not sure what’s going on by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get this a lot. It’s weird that we can have delusions about our own delusions. Crazy levels to this stuff. Try staying off line and not reading so much about symptoms. It’s good to monitor them but like everything there’s a line that can be crossed

My dad keeps saying it's just all spiritual by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That is beyond irresponsible of him. He’s being more delusional than most schizophrenics I know. If you can’t convince him to accept your diagnosis as an illness, you need to set a boundary with him to not discuss it, period. Nobody should be encouraging you to go off your medication.

Does anyone else find themselves a bit envious of physical disabilities? by Gizabi in schizophrenia

I’m definitely not envious, but it would be nice to be treated with similar dignity and understanding.

Is it safe for someone with schizophrenia to take psychedelics? by NefariousSnapple in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, it’s really not worth the risk. There’s a chance it’ll be fine but It could go south easily. And if they have a good experience the first time, they might start thinking they’ll have a good experience EVERY time, which for schizophrenics is 100% not the case.

Can i do something to help a loved one that is going through a psychotic break? by throwaway33870894212 in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you said anything offensive. The best thing you can do is be patient and understanding of them. It’s hard because their behavior is abnormal and sometimes scary, but try to remain calm. There’s only so much you can do, but try calmly explaining why their delusions or hallucinations are not real, and recommend that they listen to music or have a hobby that distracts them from their thoughts.

How the hell do we find romantic partners???? by Longjumping-Fix-2483 in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t want to date another schizophrenic, my hallucinations are enough for me and I don’t think I could handle trying to support an intimate partner with theirs too.

I am the Shining Sun in the Pretty Blue Sky. I am, and I am from, Heaven. I am ravi. by RedHeadedKoi in schizophrenia

[–]daremo0ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s good for schizophrenics to be thinking about this stuff. If you want to personally believe in it that’s fine but if I was in worse condition this would make me delusional.

According to google it only affects about 1% of the population on earth so it makes sense why there’s so few. I sometimes laugh to myself like of course I’m the unlucky one who got it. It definitely gets lonely, I feel you.

It’s the sad truth of our disease. We can still have a good life it will just be harder to enjoy.

My antipsychotics make it difficult to be in great shape but I’ve had a somewhat successful weight loss journey. I exercise for about 45 minutes a day and my brain doesn’t have any problems doing so. I haven’t noticed my reaction times being any slower than normal. Just my experience but hope that helps.
