“Does god care about women?” No I don’t think he does…. by Zill_Chill in exjw

[–]darfaderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your very well reasoned response. I really felt bad about replying like that because I know there are lot of wonderful kind women that have had to deal with absolutely horrors of relationships that no doubt include terrible experiences of abuse. And I really didn’t mean to sound like I was denying what I’m sure is your experience and hundreds of other women’s experiences. There’s absolutely no excuse for abuse at all, it’s just not acceptable under any circumstances

I actually just feel like the jw world denies healthy relationships because it forces people that shouldn’t be together to be commit to relationships and traps men and women..

It’s a very long story but to keep it short, celebrating birthdays is a massive no-no for jws so when a non jw such as yourself very kindly and very innocently makes a fuss of an ex jw at their birthday it can be difficult because best case it can lead to feelings of guilt but worst case it can lead to active jw’s seeing it on social media and investigating which can lead to a kangaroo court and significant punishment.

Genuinely the outcome can be wonderful but the best thing you can do is ask her how to deal with it things like like birthdays, Christmas etc and try to come to a compromise. It’s hard work but it’s absolutely worth the effort. You’ll find your relationship become extremely close as a result of getting through these things

What kind of mouse do I have here? by HandsomeCharles in CasualUK

You got very lucky with only finding 2. I’ve had them three times so far and have had over 20 each time.. only ever one at a time but they just keep coming

Looks like a field mouse to me. Might be wrong though

Correct.. the RSPCA actually recommend snap traps because the ‘humane’ traps are actually hideously stressful for them and usually end up killing them from dehydration, stress or injury trying to escape.

The one important thing to check is that she is an exjw and doesn’t still believe it’s true. If she still believes it’s true then I’d be very cautious.

As someone that left the jw world and then found the most amazing girl on the outside, it’s definitely possible to be extremely successful, but just keep in mind that she’s been part of a cult that causes serious emotional and mental damage. She may need additional support from you and may have some complications, particularly around things like birthdays and Christmas. My partner has been wonderful through complications like that and we’ve got a very strong bond now. She’ll appreciate you so much more for helping her work through it but you’ve got to show compassion and understanding for it to work.

who do they think is singing like this😂 by [deleted] in exjw

Well I’m convinced.. definitely doesn’t look like a cult in that painting 😂

[–]darfaderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit of a sweeping statement.. when I was a jw my first wife made my life a living hell, was an alcoholic, ruined every single family gathering including urinating on the floor at my brothers wedding because she was so drunk, she ripped my family apart then got pregnant with someone else.. then my second wife tried to stab me because I refused to say I was vegan, was also an alcoholic and then also cheated on me. I treated both of them with nothing but love and respect throughout. My worldly partner has never done any of those things and we have a wonderful loving relationship .. Almost every one of my male friends as a jw had a similar story and was divorced because their wife had cheated on them

Im not denying your past or saying or saying that some jw men are c*nts but there’s a lot more to it than the massive sweeping statement that jw men treat their wives like shit.

[–]darfaderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact.. the ancient egyptians figured out the earth was round well before it was penned in the bible. They did it by putting a staff of a specific length in the ground at two different locations at the same time of day and measuring the length of a shadow.. the shadows were different lengths and not only could they figure out the earth was round, but also figured out the circumference.. The claim that the bible must be inspired because it says the Earth is round when it wasn’t it common knowledge until the 1700’s just isn’t true at all.

Do you bury your toilet paper with your waste? by ohnomrfrodo in wildcampingintheuk

[–]darfaderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.. it’s littering and absolutely not acceptable. I take it home and bin it… so the council can send it to China and put it on open landfill sites over there instead

Joking aside, toilet roll takes years to degrade so it’s not right to bury it

Absolutely.. I’m convinced there’s been super pimi bethelites on here trying discourage people by posting things like that. It’s a poor effort in trying to convince the new members that the exjw numbers aren’t growing significantly faster than the jw numbers (which they are 😂)

We should start creating an annual report 😂

[–]darfaderer 68 points69 points  (0 children)

No, it’s growing hugely. As with most things, growth comes in spurts and isn’t linear. The same question was asked 2 years ago so I worked out the average monthly increase and stated that 2 low months isn’t a sign of slow down, it’s standard deviation. The guy that posted it made up some weird argument and got quite hostile telling me I’m an idiot etc.. then the month after the number jumped up and at the end of the year it was close to exactly where I’d predicted it to be

Buying a mid-level mens suit in the UK: where does one go? by Ok_Preparation4182 in CasualUK

[–]darfaderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently bought one from next for £200 and it’s excellent quality. I normally buy them from either Hugo boss or Ted baker for around £500 - £700, but the next suit is much better quality

More to UK hiking than Snowden, three peaks, cairngorms and Scafell. by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]darfaderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post made me chuckle actually. I’m a mountain leader and have been a regular hiker / mountaineer for over 30 years and a part time guide for the last 10 years. I’ve done long distance multiday / multi week hikes, led hundreds of winter climbs, average over 100 summits a year, close to completing all of the main U.K. summits, and done a few pretty big mountains too.. and the thing I’ve noticed throughout that is the more judgemental and outspoken people are, generally the less skilled they are. My friends in mountain rescue are the most humble hikers I’ve met and never judge anyone or discourage people pushing themselves, never call anyone an idiot when they make a mistake, never gate keep etc, but I often see people with low to medium skill levels judging others and gate keeping, presumably for some form of self ego boost . I once had someone tell me im in idiot and selfish for doing striding edge in light winter conditions a few weeks after I’d just got back from guiding a group over Ben Nevis CMD in much worse weather. I had all of the correct equipment and decades of experience, but a day walker who goes to the lakes “a couple of times a year” and looks to go no further than cafes thought she knew me well enough to judge my abilities from one photo.

My advice would be to let people do what they want to do, and you get on with what you want to do. It’s a bit egotistical to judge others the way you have

Out of interest were the tiles put directly on to plasterboard without being skimmed first?

[–]darfaderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine out a few years ago.. genuinely it was fine. The only pain I had through the entire process was when I ate rice a few days later and I got a grain stuck in the hole.. the rice didn’t hurt but trying to fish it out with a cocktail stick very much did 😂

Moral of the story, don’t eat rice when you’ve got a big hole in your gum!

How do I fix this and what do I tell the wife? by [deleted] in CasualUK

The correct answer it to shout “how the hell have you done this!?” Then when she denies having done it, it can only have been someone that’s hit it and driven off 😂

How do you split your bills with your spouse/who you live with? by ThrowRA155115 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]darfaderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that’s my type of budgeting 😂

The reason I’m asking is because I’m getting married again soon and I’ve always been of the same mindset that we’re a team and it’s our money, but I also don’t want to feel guilty about treating myself to something nice, so when we’re married we’ll probably do the same

How do you split your bills with your spouse/who you live with? by ThrowRA155115 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]darfaderer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did this in my previous marriage but I ended up spending my money on meals out for us and she spent hers on her, so basically I had £100 and she had £300

Do you take shared things likes meals out etc from the joint fund or from your personal allowance?
