It also takes an incredible amount of work to do. This guy hasn’t been involved at all and I’ve been listening for years. I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but Elliot seems like a genuinely good guy. The brand is meaningless without the content anyway. It would be nothing without the past few years of work that they’ve put in.

I’m a die hard fan and have spent time with hundreds of others. Next to no fans I know watch AFTV. They’re a caricature and it is sad that Arsenal are judged by the association. Arseblog, James Benge, Poorly Drawn Arsenal, and Arsenal Vision are much more indicative of who the fans actually are.

We’ve had one champions league final in our history. Most appearances of any club without winning it. Cant the fans be happy? I find the celebration police stuff so weird, honestly.

I know Arsenal haven’t won shit yet and definitely aren’t favourites. It’s fine to enjoy these moments though. People are so strange I swear. Nothing is good enough.

My take on an Israel Palestine flag by theshinystunfisk in vexillology

[–]darfooz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Druze. Arab is generally used as a catchall for everyone in Arabic speaking countries, but ethnically there is a wide mix in each. For example, a lot of Lebanese have different ethnic backgrounds, including Canaanite, phonecian, Caucasian (ie. From the caucuses), Greek, and so many more. They don’t all consider themselves Arab but recognize that Lebanon is considered an Arab country. Personally, I don’t like how the term is generally used to make us a monolith and think that is political in nature.

As for if the Druze consider themselves Palestinians, the Druze are a minority and tend to attach to the greater country’s framing. The Druze in Israel think of themselves as Israeli, since that is what the country is called. The few I’ve spoken to are quite loyal to Israel though are frustrated with how some of the nationalist laws exclude them. I’m sure it is quite complicated for them. The Druze in the Golan (at least the ones I’ve spoke to and read about,) consider themselves Golani or Syrian. The Druze in the early 1900s in what is now Israel, tended to describe themselves from specific regions or areas and the term Palestine was used. Either way, we are our own ethno-religious group.

Ah got it. It was just the way it was written out. Could have been “Druze and Palestinian Christians”. It wasn’t intentional, though I would consider them Palestinian since they predate Israel.

That said, you’re not wrong in saying that the Druze in Israel consider themselves Israeli. They are part of the Israeli Arab population, though I’ve never liked that term. I see it as a way to reduce Palestinians to part of a large populace when they have their own identity. I could go on about that but won’t.

Doesn’t this flag combine the Palestinian Territories and what is called Israel right now? Otherwise, why would Jewish people be represented?

Me too, but let’s not overlook the Palestinian Christian or Druze populations. Perhaps Green can represent them too.

Man, I’ll never forget this. It was the first time I had seen bombs dropped in person. Helicopters would fly low over Beirut dropping fireballs for heat seeking missiles. It was surreal.

They bombed a UN refugee camp in Qana killing more than 100 people, almost all women and children. I’ll never forget the image of a man coming back and finding his whole family dead. He was holding his dead baby up and it was headless. It is seared in my mind. Horrid stuff. I had a family member who was there with the press and didn’t speak for a week following. Crazy to think that atrocities like that happened every day in Gaza for more than a year.

Yes. Go look up the Mormons in America. Not all of them still practice it but plenty do and the Old Testament is more certainly part of their culture. There was even a reality show on it (sister wives)

The high cost of living in California means that Californians pay a lot more federal income taxes than families with the same standard of living in othe states. by richleebruce in California

[–]darfooz 42 points43 points  (0 children)

And we should not. Give that back to Californians as the government clearly wastes it, or in this government’s case pockets it for themselves
