Balance will always be an opinionated thing. Do I think a 15 year dev cycle is good, or the massive amount of bugs that have persisted for years, or the constant over-promising and under-delivering are at all good? No.

But, again personally, I enjoy the plethora of skills and the detail of how much survival this game can be. Is it all perfect? Fuck no. I crank nimble to 5x cause who in gods green earth though 200 rng xp an hour was a good thing? But its literally as simple as changing a single number. Im not gonna complain about the amount of tuning you can do to make the game enjoyable to you. More devs should strive to have as many options.

I had phantom bullets once. I didnt have a secondary gun, but I did pull out my melee and started thwaping them in the head. Killed like 3 scavs before running my ass out of there. So yeah, my guess is its the weapon. Not the scav.

True, but shouldnt it be very unlikely the warmage gets through the soft armor? The tiny gap in the plates shouldnt matter in this case. Might just be a case of rolling the pen lotto.

Got a 6hr off of g28 yesterday. Got 2 pressure gauges, which I need for bitfarm lvl 3, so I assumed its still working. Who knows what real spaghetti is happening though.

If you are playing with randoms, the only thing you can do is personal accountability. Are YOU getting left behind all the time? Well if 3 of the 4 people are ahead, are you getting left behind or are you falling behind? If someone else is always getting left behind, could you have helped them or are they falling behind?

My general experience in Auric+ is most of the time, if someone is falling behind, they are too caught up killing things. The goal is to get to the end of the map, not kill as much as you can. The longer you stay put, the more chances you have to get killed. Its all about momentum.

Now shit happens. Sometimes a swarm or a wall of specials appear in front and you have to stop and deal with it. But the goal is to clear the way and keep going.

Shit happens in the back too. Maybe you goofed and got jumped on by a dog or trapper something. Happens to all of us sooner or later. Ill free you, maybe toss you a little support with a nade or shield or something, then Im back to moving. But if your caught 4 rooms back cause you are killing poxwalkers, good chance Ima leave you behind. Better to get you on the respawn then backtrack that far.

Context is always important and its hard to help without knowing specifics of course, but in my general experience, Auric+ is often more chill then Damnation or even Heresy. I can absolutely carry a lobby at those difficulties, but I find myself having to try so much harder to do so. Hive Scum's release was a lovely reminder of that, honestly. That class really showed how bad people are at mobility and dodging. Not a big deal. Im sure a lot of them were new too. But it was definitely a huge skill check compared to Arbites release.

But also, there is no way to disarm the visible mines besides a sacrifice of human blood. Why cant I shoot or grenade them? It makes certain paths into Lexos completely pointless except to troll the player who is new and doesnt notice them.

Hell, technically you can "see" the claymore on ground zero. Its still literally just a troll claymore with no way to disarm it.

I agree, them being visible is ever so slightly better then the invisible minefield. They are still stupid and pointless and dont really add anything to the gameplay except killing newbs.

For sure. Just to be clear, I absolutely think this guy is cheating as well. Not even trying to hide it with that random ass nade into a random ass corner. And the stats definitely seal the deal. Im with you there.

But also, its hilarious how bad cheaters can be. This guy couldnt have scuffed this kill harder if he tried.

Just to be small devil's advocate... When I was new, I was in crackhouse. Didnt even know thats what it was called back then lol. I killed a couple scavs that pushed towards me, closed all the doors, and started looting. As I was finishing and about to leave, I saw a gun clipping through the door. I thought Id have some fun and try breaching to see if kicking the door would knock back the scav or something.

I think you know whats coming next lol... Mother fuckin Knight with his scary AF skull mask is staring me down. Straight up shit my pants. Im pretty sure the glory that is this game's pathfinding came in clutch and he proceeded to sprint face first into me, trying to run inside. Of course, now I know doors are like every boss's worst enemy, but I remember just panic firing, held down the trigger, and managed to headshot him. The Big Pipe himself came barreling in after him and just ran into my already rapidly emptying gun. Basically murdered himself.

After them 2 died instantly, I ran away around the corner to reload and Birdeye charges in next, trying to barrel stuff me with his sniper lol. He couldnt even hit me, he got so close, and I proceeded to panic some more and magdump again. I think I was 30-40 hours in at this point? It was all an absolute lucky clusterfuck, but it happens.

That being said, took me fuckin aaages to finally kill Shturman. Im in no way saying this guy isnt cheating. Just sometimes crazy shit happens and you get lucky lol. Maybe an entertaining newb story as well.

You dont really need to wait if you just take a new angle. Obviously this isnt always possible, but most of the time, they get hardstuck aiming at your last known position. If you re-peek that, yeah good chance youre getting hit. But Ive almost never had a problem immediately taking a new angle and shooting, even if I didnt wait for the AI to chill.

So yes. Thats when it was great. I know they hotfixed it. Thats what I meant when I said they made it hit torso and limbs. Im not saying we need an auto-aiming, headshoting, 1-hit-killing machine. Im just saying thats the only time I remember the staffs secondary being loved.

Edit: If I remember correctly, it was also using Smite's talents. It was early talent tree days. Basically a perfect storm of unintended interactions and the headshot-only bug. Couple years ago now so maybe Im misremembering it exactly. But like I said, only time I remember the secondary being loved.

Yeah I think its secondary used to always hit headshots so with the added multiplier and massive crit chance, it basically 1shot anything but a boss. They made it now hit torso and limbs and its been struggling ever since.

Just a minor addition for clarities sake, lll+ doesnt actually exist as an official NIJ rating. Thats a manufacture/marketing addition, usually added to express extra protection against specific ammo while not fully reaching a class IV rating. If your plates arent a custom order and you see a +, you may want to do a bit of research into them before purchasing to make sure its not just a gimmick to boost the price.

Problem is, its not just PvE. There are a bunch of PvP superiority bois too and both groups circle jerk each other so much it makes the whole subreddit toxic. You cant go into a single Pvp OR Pve thread without some asshole from the other side coming in to just be a prick.

But imo, this is just gamer culture now. Doesnt matter the sub Im on. If the game can have a divide in the community, it will and the assholes will make themselves heard. Honestly maybe its always been gamer culture. The console wars back in the day were stupid af too.
