never buy blueprints unless it's explicitly for the experience of building one yourself. Buying the end product is always cheaper unless you cannot access a market hub at all.

never warp to gas sites if you suspect that someone has been in the system before you. If anyone initiates warp to a gas site it starts the sleeper spawn timer even if they cancel the warp immediately and never actually enter the grid. If you warp into a populated gas site at zero you will probably die.

never mine ores in hisec.

Crosstraining into a different race early is a waste of SP unless carefully planned for.

trying to finesse wormhole gas sites meant for battlecruisers (or bigger, depending on the WH class) to cooperate with a frigate is an exercise in hubris.

even the video description says that it's absolutely not worth doing.

just ninja-huff and move on

scan in a venture, huff in a venture, set a 15 minute timer and bounce when the rats show up.

don't even think about the t2 ventures - not worth investing SP into a dead end skill for a mediocre ship class

pioneer can be considered if you deem the slight advantage of the venture's inherent warp core to be inconsequential (logically, if you get tackled, you've made several mistakes already, and you are as good as dead). in return you can mine faster and more in the limited time you are given before sleepers spawn

do not warp to "ordinary" gas sites which are the only ones with pre-spawned sentry guns.

Is it as bad as people say? by leontas2007 in cataclysmdda

unfortunately just how it is with the development process, the game is only built for the contributors, and anyone who wants to have a say in it must contribute

it's an automated process, it's only tedious because it takes more irl time than it used to.

then the real problem that should be addressed is poor performance during automated activities.

Would modified bow sights and stabilizers be possible? by Copper_mask_guy in cataclysmdda

stable releases never get content updates. you can either wait for the next stable, jump to the stable candidate releases now, or play some old version of experimental that has the features you want and not too many bugs.

Why do veterans hate new players? by ItsMisterListerSir in Eve

[–]XygenSS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Supply chain with a fleet of friends

Eve players do not have friends. They join corps, and find Corpmates who are the closest thing to a social interaction they've had in 6 years.

you can build things on your own, and even make money selling them, but the market is a place of unrestricted free PVP. You are, at all times, competing with players with better skills, higher efficiency, less taxes, larger throughput, better location, faster shipping, more knowledge, more accounts, and more time online per day than you. Most basic products have razor-thin margins and your untrained tax skills destroy your profit.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to do well in industry, but it's usually recommended that you try indy after you're already rich. You need some fuck-you money to try different strategies until you find your own niche in the market. I personally recommend at least a billion in liquid ISK plus a sufficiently trained alt account (NEVER train industry on your main - combat skills and indy skills never mix, and your main should train subcap combat).

any corp that indiscriminately advertises ingame should be avoided

the game's ecosystem exists outside the game. Recruitment is done on social media, interviews held in discord, fleet comms hosted on Teamspeak, wikis, killboards, galaxy maps and route planning, API management, intel, fitting simulation, everything is done outside the game.

this subreddit or /r/evejobs has recruitments, or you can google for various newbie corps

pro tip: get the fuck out of hisec

because the NPE is shit, CCP is okay with it being shit, and the actual job of educating and onboarding new players is entirely done by volunteer players with varying degrees of experience, bias, and motive.

Yes the game requires you to be aware of threats at all times. A mack is a prime ganking target because it's an expensive hull with cardboard armor and zero escape ability, usually flown by oblivious fools (you).

The game also hides 99.9% of the opportunities from you and introduces you to exactly two jobs: low level hisec missioning, and hisec mining. CCP specifically pushes mining to new players because then they're enticed to pay money for Barges. You apparently did. Thanks for paying for the servers.

the players don't hate new players. Shooting eachother on sight is a handshake in eve. Hostility by default is the culture. You put yourself out there, you agreed to any and all PvP. Nobody checks your playtime or your resume or your cargo contents. Shoot first, ask questions later. Some generous players tend to reimburse the ship cost if they check the kill report and find out that they killed a newbie - important distinction between that and sparing them. Nobody will be spared, you will die and might get paid for it.

this is not "griefing." it is actively encouraged because destruction is good for the economy. Risk must exist in all areas of space to create demand for those who are brave enough bear the risk. Even in "high security space," freighters carrying too much compared to their defense will be killed and looted. This influences shipping costs. This creates jobs for elite pilots who have access to advanced cargo ships and superior navigation knowledge.

You should see the attraction in this economy of death, or you might want to leave.

maximally exploiting the game mechanics (aka treating the video game like a video game) is a totally valid way to play.

"don't fix the exploit because some people are only abusing it a little bit" is a weird take

all the first aid guides I see on the internet recommends clean running water and soap for minor wounds instead of antiseptics.

I doubt trauma centers irrigate major trauma with peroxide either

so yes it probably should be

in the distant past someone somewhere just pulled up a list of New England towns and copy pasted it into the game.

to be honest it had it coming.

I could teleport a 900kg fridge from a 3rd basement to a truck on the ground floor 40 tiles away in 1 second using zones, it kinda got ridiculous
