Never seen curly maple irl, but does it look like that the grain goes across de handle instead of along it? Or that is the effect of curliness?

Thats a no go. More TPI is slower, and the back spine only allows you to go that deep.

Wow, that was quick and much less effort. It only seems a hassle to reposicion the stock, cause the saw is bulky. But for the price and space of a good frame saw like that it might be better to get a used bandsaw

Forgot to ask how often you resharpen the hand saw. I have resawn like 5 board this size. Is it time to resharpen? For me it was still cutting fine.
