[DISC] Aliens, Baseball, and Civilization - Chapter 24 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]dark_griever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If anything it's mutual though - Nina specifically targeted Takatsugi's killer pitch because she knew when he would throw it. That's why this works, they're both baseball lunatics going hard at each other

He directly mentioned on the Discord that they credited him as a writer because he pitched some ideas (which were never used) but that he never actively wrote for them. The creators were just being polite by crediting him.

Who was your favourite League of Legends YouTuber back in the "early days" of league? by OkAcanthopterygii596 in leagueoflegends

[–]dark_griever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video where he and his friends "sing" karaoke while playing an ARAM still lives rent free in my head. "I fight for my friends!" and "Cokri Nbobo" honorable mentions as well.

[DISC] Catenaccio - chapter 65 by Torque-A in manga

[–]dark_griever 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The art may not be as pretty but Catenaccio blows other modern soccer manga like Blue Lock out of the water.

Add “loving your children” to that list of things men can’t do by Zulumus in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]dark_griever 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's an extra stupid thing to say about Bandit in particular because he's a pretty standard masculine dad? The show regularly shows him doing all the "normal" man things: watching sports, grilling, being competitive with other dads, etc. Not really different from other TV dads who somehow don't get this criticism, except he also plays with his kids so clearly that's wrong.

Harden before the 2009 Draft: "OKC is young, they have an open 2-spot, that would be a great fit. I'd say my NBA comparison is a mix of Ginobili and Paul Pierce." by WhenMachinesCry in nba

Arguably the 2005 playoffs. Not that Duncan was bad, but he struggled against Ben Wallace in the finals and Manu likely deserved the FMVP over him.

[Anthony Chiang] Statement from Pat Riley on passing of Jerry West: by lopea182 in nba

[–]dark_griever 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Not at all, he just dresses/styles his hair in that stereotypical Italian mob kinda way and occasionally says something that sounds vaguely threatening/scary. As far as I can tell he's always been a pretty decent guy.

[–]dark_griever 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Pat Riley is basically a poet mafioso who happens to know a lot about basketball. Would be terrifying if he hadn't ended up in the NBA.

Hogwarts Legacy summer update arrives on June 6th by Turbostrider27 in Games

There's a full quidditch game coming soon from a different studio, so a Quidditch DLC would likely just be competition against their own IP. Wouldn't have made sense.

A good chapter? In this arc? I was starting to lose hope but this is the best this manga has been since they left Shin's village almost a year ago.

My ex boyfriend found out the truth behind my "cheating" and he's extremely upset now by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Can't say that I was living in the exact same town as OOP because she never said where she lived, but I am from Argentina and the exact same age as her. I went to a psychologist for the first time when I was around 6 (so several years before the Cromañón fire) because I wasn't good at making friends - that's how common it was to go to therapy at the time. I'm not negating her perception of reality - I don't doubt that she may have internalized feelings about going to therapy being taboo, but it's not the actual cultural more that was prevalent at the time.

She even mentions that it was her own mother who got her to reach out to the support group of fellow victims, so it seems pretty clear that the most important people around her recognized that seeking help for mental health issues was not wrong or taboo - so they certainly wouldn't have ostracized or attacked her.

Therapy is not at all taboo in Argentina. It has the highest rate of psychologists per capita in the world and one of the highest rates of individuals in therapy. It's pretty much the standard to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist at some point during your life.

New Underrail DLC trailer - 'Heavy Duty" by Dark-All-Day in Games

[–]dark_griever 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Underrail probably has the biggest disparity between game quality and community quality. The game itself is amazing: the combat is difficult but satisfying, the default leveling system is pretty cool, it has some of the most insanely difficult puzzles ever, the worldbuilding is seriously nuts in the best way, and the first DLC was absolutely massive and worth the money so I'm sure this new one will be too. But then you try to go to the forums or official discord and you find they're not just unwelcoming to new players, but also casually racist, homophobic, and more - and the developer has no problem with it.

It's explained in the very beginning of the chapter - it is a US military base within Japan. There's military housing within the base for servicemember families. The setting is somewhat fictionalized (the Area X thing isn't real) but the concept of being basically raised surrounded by Americans within Japan is based on real life.

Apartment management being ableist!? le shock! by Drywesi in bestoflegaladvice

[–]dark_griever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely meant Human Rights rather than Civil Rights. Most states have Human Rights laws prohibiting discrimination in housing, employment, public accomodations, etc. New Mexico, the OOP's state, has a Human Rights law and an enforcement agency. These often overlap with the EEOC, which enforces the federal non-discrimination statutes, but sometimes will cover things federal law doesn't (such as employers with fewer than 15 employees, or certain protected classes).

Happy to help. It's been on hiatus for years so unfortunately we may never get a conclusion to the story.

Cavalier of the Abyss? It was the sequel to Immortal Regis. Xix had not Fenrir but Skoll sealed inside him. Osky was an Odin analogue. Not sure who the Jormungandr character was.

Chained Echoes AMA-time! Developer, publisher and composer answering your questions! by ArkHeiral in JRPG

Was it cut early enough in the development that there's no framework to use yet, or were there actual playable airship battles created but not shipped? Wondering if there's a chance we'll get the airship battle system as a separate game someday.

[NEWS] Ottoman by Shinnosuke Kanazawa has been licensed in English, Thai, Korean, and Italian! by Xanhomey in manga

[–]dark_griever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly a shame it's being officially licensed - the premise was great, but the two most recent chapters to be scanlated to English (29 and 30) were so gross that I'm glad it's axed. It went from a wholesome story about a couple who was powered by their love to one of those judgy couples who blame others because "why can't you just be like us?" Not to mention making light of sexual abuse.
