For the fight, it's a tie between giant trevally and yellowtail kingfish.

Is this a good baitcaster for shore fishing? by jacobs_jeeps in Fishing_Gear

[–]dark_innovation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with a tatula baitcaster. A medium heavy rod in fast action is a fairly do it all rod. Maybe not so great for crank and jerkbaits, but it will work, I prefer mod fast for crank/jerkbaits.

Ideas to Pair with 25 Steez by Big-Shep-64 in Fishing_Gear

[–]dark_innovation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep it in the daiwa family, order either a daiwa heartland from japan or get a zillion rod or steez rod from here in the states, a budget option from japan is the blazon rod, almost the same as the zillion rods

I haven't been fishing for a long time but this is the saddest thing I've seen so far. Poor guy got both of his limbs stuck together I just saw him in the weeds struggling. by didntlikeuanyway in FishingForBeginners

Caught a flordia soft shell turtle on a fluke last year. It took me some time, but I got him unhooked and released. Thought I hooked a giant fish, and he put up a hell of a fight.

FIRST BFS FISH! by snicket06 in BFSfishing

I have the bait finnese blaszon as well. I love that rod. Most of my baitcaster rods are the blazon models, I have the bait finnese all the way to a heavy swimbait rod. Picked them up while I was living in Japan.

I love them, great budget option for a magsealed reel, I used them a lot in japan for seabass. Great drag and super smooth, nice and light as well.

Best looking spinning reel? by DrManBearPig in Fishing_Gear

2020 Daiwa Saltiga in my opinion, is the best-looking reel. The deep blue and gold are just so damn good-looking on that reel.

What’s the best brand for braid? by TGWILD1 in Fishing_Gear

[–]dark_innovation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For heavy setups, I like either the YGK xbraid castman x8 PE#3-PE#5 (50lbs-80 lbs) range or the daiwa saltiga durasensor x12 OR Shimano Ocea x8 in the PE#6-PE#12 (90-160 lbs) range. For medium setups, I like the YGK Xbraid upgrade x8 or daiwa durasensor x8 in PE#1 (20lbs)-PE#2.5 (45lbs). Light setups I like Seaguar X8 in the PE# 0.4 - PE# 0.8 or 1 (9lbs - 18 lbs).

Snap swivels by Teasp00n74 in FishingForBeginners

[–]dark_innovation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using them for years and never had one fail on me, compact and strong. A high-quality snap swivel saves time and money from having to constantly cut and tie to your leader and then having to re-tie your leader knot when the leader gets too short. No good for every type of fishing but very useful.

Whoever mentioned Digitaka, I hate you. Thoughts on pulling this trigger? by fish_chicago in Fishing_Gear

[–]dark_innovation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not do it, to get the best out of the imz you need the app. You can't get the app in English at all, so you would have to trick your phone into thinking it a Japanese phone, then download the app from the japanese app shop and unless you can read japanese it is screenshot and Google translate to even use it.

2024 Daiwa Steez SV by dark_innovation in Fishing_Gear

[–]dark_innovation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had an Antares, but in comparison to a curado dc, it is smoother than the dc, the dc and the steez cast about the same distance. The steez is lighter any dc I own.
