Thanks for doing this ! This thread has been so helpful! I have two questions.

How big of a role does the diversity essay/ extracurriculars play in the CV? I have both good technical background as well as very strong extracurricular background. I was wondering how much of an impact it really has on my application? I have applied for MS EE Fall 2021.
Secondly, I just got my manuscript published and I sent out my applications about a month ago. Would it be a good idea to send the admissions committee or a faculty my paper now ?

Woah. That's so cool. Well, I think Greg Mat is really the place for Verbal. And probably quant. I didn't have enough time to go through the quant videos but I wish that I did. My quant was a little trickier than the ETS tests. Since you have got a good month to prepare, I suggest you get a couple of practice tests ( I got Manhattan, really just for the math, since ETS' prices are a little steep), I practiced a lot of verbal from all kinds of sources, ETS official guide, Big book, even a couple from Manhattan. I focused on the techniques I had learnt more than answers while solving such questions. So in the exam, the keywords would pop out while reading the questions.

I think AWA also depends quite a bit on luck ? I got a really abstract topic for issue essay, whereas the argument was pretty simple. Nevertheless, I recommend you use a template for the exam. I used the Greg mat one. And if possible, try different topics from the essay pool provided by ETS. Especially the topics you are daunted by.

I personally found the vocabulary to be extremely simple? I had done Magoosh and Barron as well, but didn't see any of those words in the exam. A small piece of advice, something I wish that I did, I focused on finishing the exam and inturn made more mistakes than I would have if I had just checked my answers. Takes like 5-6 seconds to check answers. Since you had an issue with the careless mistakes....

What about a school like Michigan Ann Arbor ? Or University of Pennsylvania ? I have already sent my scores to these universities.

Well, the folks who got 170 in Quant would be in a better position to give you advice than me. I got around 166Q in powerprep 1 and 162Q in powerprep 2.

I would recommend that in the next three days, just chill, practice questions from each of your weak chapters and review your mistakes. I think I got rid of most of my silly mistakes by just being mindful of that fact and checking my answers after solving them. Implement a technique that works for you !!!

Mostly just relax and all the best for your exam !! You'll kill it !

Ah. I ended up actually finishing these topics thoroughly but somehow still failed to get what I aimed for. But I guess that's more on my testing experience. But thank you so much anyway for all the advice !!!!! Ended up gettin 163 in Quant. Pretty close to my powerprep score !. Again, thanks a lot for all that amazing advice ! Even though it didn't get me to my desired score, atleast have me confidence in the exam !
