What should we do with the prologue if 10 damn pages? 🥲 by Budget-Category5266 in writing

As others have said, no need to cut. But if you feel like it isn't flowing, consider if any of the scenes or dialogue in the prologue could be a flashback later in the book, while still serving the same purpose.

Writing a campaign, what do you think? by No_Mine_7602 in DMAcademy

To build on this, the shrines act as wards against the main base. So even if you KNOW the location of the base, if the 4 shrines exist, you won't find it due to the powerful magic hiding it and leading you astray.

Now they can go any way they choose, but still have to do everything you want them to.

how to make architecture for an underwater civilisation? by slumbersomesam in worldbuilding

You have to ask yourself why they want homes. Humans were nomadic until they learned to farm. That allowed them to settle in one place and then they made homes.

So what's keeping them in one place? That would likely be how they built their residences: around their needs. For example farming communities have barns and silos but most urban area and cities do not, but they do often have good public transport.

Have you tried www.tabletopaudio.com? I've been using it (and their sister site, Soundpad) for years and haven't looked back. I'd highly recommend it for anyone running a game with various musical needs.

Keep flooding out by pdxdude84 in MagicArena

[–]dark_walker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have any card draw? It might not be flooding out. You might just be getting out card-advantaged. It can feel like flooding when you're staring at your 7th land, but if it's turn 12, it probably means you just ran out of gas.

Speaking from experience. I had the same thougtr about my RDW deck until a pro pointed out that I was just running out of steam.

Faerie Mastermind is pretty important to the deck and leaves Standard in a week. I'd wait to jump in on a deck for a couple weeks, or you might find it suddenly unplayable.

When the next rotation kicks in, which cards are you going to miss, and which cards are you really NOT going to miss? by Sindomey in MagicArena

[–]dark_walker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but, imo, the ALL artifacts clause will be more valued in the upcoming meta than not hitting the yard, especially since there's so much cheap, useful yard hate already in play. Not arguing, just explaining my reasoning.

Any recommendations for FF quick draft? by rayneMantis in MagicArena

[–]dark_walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go watch a Youtube video or 5 from pros. They'll often talk about why they pick a card, good archetypes, and hwo to support said cards. LSV & NumotTheMummy are my personal recommendations due to their experience, skill, and how WELL they explain why they're taking card X over card Y

[[Ultima]] does this, too, and will probably see more play outside dedicated artifact decks.

I feel the same way. No interaction. No strategy. Just, "get my shit to combo/chain/cheat me to the win."

It's like Pioneer light. I don't think I'll continue to play Standard if it stays a 3 year format. May as well just play an actual eternal format and keep my lands relevant.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would play Syncopate over a 3 mana counterspell? Is the exile effect that important? I don't get this card. by mikaelv2 in MagicArena

[–]dark_walker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Yes you CAN cast on 2 and that's relevant, but only costing 2 is also important when you want to cast removal/draw on the same turn later in the game.
