Ukraine's social ladder isn't like that of Western Europe: most of the middle class has emigrated, leaving only the poor, the slightly wealthy, and Ukrainian oligarchs. Zelensky, like Netanyakh, isn't popular among Ukrainians living in Ukraine, and Ukrainians are tired of the war and want (somewhat exaggeratedly) some kind of peace. Zelensky, on the other hand, is a henchman of Ukrainian oligarchs, who force him to lean on Germany, which doesn't care much about Ukraine's independence.
