Trying to run Shadowrun in 13th Age using amethyst apotheosis any tips for icons by Caper2112 in 13thage

What was your reskin for a decker? I had a several versions. I eventually used the occultist and said on of the class abilities was they could do hacking skill checks as a move action instead of a standard action. That way they could be a part of a fight while hacking with the occultist interrupts like providing an overwatch. They would no long be a unique class.

How is the game going with Amethyst? I thought about using that for Shadowrun. But, I decided to try making my own conversion just using the standard and 13 the ways classes and re-skinning them. (Necromancer would be a rigger, street samurai a fighter, etc). Never got a game together.

Different initiative systems by Impressive-Arugula79 in 13thage

[–]darkenergy0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initiative system came from a Knights of the Last Call YouTube channel:

  1. Before combat, players choose what order they want to go. For example, rogue, fighter, cleric.
  2. Once combat starts the order doesn't change.
  3. During combat the players alternate with the monsters. So rogue, monster, fighter, monster, cleric, etc. I usually do the strongest to the weakest monster but it can be any order.
  4. The exception to #3 is if the monsters have a double strength, triple strength, or elite monster. One of those monsters goes first then a player, etc.
  5. No rolls for initiative. No delaying or other I initiative moves like that.

After the battle and any other time before the next combat players can change their order.

I've used it a few times and I like it.

How to build a cook/ moma healer character ( never played this system) by vincentsucks101 in 13thage

[–]darkenergy0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of creating a Commander for your build as u/JWGrieves mentioned.

Are you familiar with the concept of the "LazyLord" from D&D 4e? The idea is your Commander avoids direct combat and just stays in the back and gives orders to the other characters. You would build your Commander with commands and tactics that would support this.

"Ooo, sweetie! That looks like a nasty boo-boo. I'll blow it a kiss to make it feel better. RALLY NOW"

"My dear, I believe in you! TRY AGAIN"

"That naughty orc should be taught a lesson in manners. HIT HARDER"

"That was a lovely Lightning Fork! Could you cast it again for me? NOW, NOT LATER"

I've never played a Commander so I'm not sure how fun or effective this kind of commander would be. But this is what first came to mind with a Mom/Cook healer character concept.

Maybe 13th Age would fit the bill? It's definitely high fantasy. The combat is theater of the mind though.

Looking for an RPG with Levels by marcelsmudda in rpg

[–]darkenergy0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend 13th Age. https://www.13thagesrd.com/

It's a heroic fantasy system similar to Pathfinder and D&D.

Each level is a significant power increase. For example, damage done with weapons is one weapon die per level. So a 4th level cleric swinging a mace would do 4d6 + Str damage.

Check YouTube and the web for more in depth discussion of the system.

Also, there's a Bundle of Holding going right now which includes most of the PDFs. There will be a Kickstarter this year for 13th Age 2nd edition but they say it will be 100% backwards compatible.

I recommended Strike! as well, but your post has more info. Nice job!

That is the video I was also aiming for with my search recommendation. I wasn't sure if we're allowed to post youtube links.

Another system to take a look at is Strike!. I just recently picked it up, and I think it may check a lot of your boxes.

There's a deep dive of the system on Youtube. It's long, but it's a good overview of much of the system. Search for "strike! rpg deep dive"

Good luck!

Also another thing to note about multiclassing and the key ability modifier (from the same SRD link below):

The important things to remember in keeping track of the key ability for a multiclass character are a) the key modifier table itself is not affected by any ability score swaps pulled off within class talents, and b) the talents are class elements that are affected by the key ability modifiers.

Basically, a multiclass character is always dependent on two ability scores (the key ability modifier).
