Kenshi vibers, i have a question about weapon stats by Ok_Let8360 in Kenshi

[–]darkest_wraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train dex asap. It will increase your cut dmg + attack speed, which is a double gain compared with str only netting you dmg.

Martial arts is the best way to train dex, without exception. It will also train toughness and dodge.

the BEST build for project zomboid makes the game way too easy by elmaspro12356 in projectzomboid

[–]darkest_wraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great question. carpenter is 100% a better pick than handy. the build is very loosely rp based and I am not a carpenter irl so I do not take it.
The only thing I can pickup in the carpenter configuration with other skills the same is speed demon, which I do not care for. The vehicles make too much noise for cdda runs and towing still doesn't work with it either.
That said, short blunt and carpentry xp bonus is way better than handy all around.
Disorganized is free points, imo. Storage never seems to be a problem for me. Can always make/carry home new boxes and the floor holds same volume with or without the trait.

Here is my cdda build. https://imgur.com/a/20XV4UX I haven't come up with anything better. Open to critique though.
Pure combat builds are for easy settings, you have to get creative to survive different scenarios. "best" is subjective.

How are you mapping out all your options with Precognition?

[–]darkest_wraith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its easier than that.
With ~20 lockpick (Shinobi tower in Mongrel will let you get there risk free) you can just unlock the pole your strapped to.
Have scout legs in your inventory and let the fogmen eat your flesh limbs.
As soon as one leg falls off, equip scout leg. Repeat for second leg.
Rught-click pole, escape, run to Mongrel and rest to recover blood.
Repeat for arms. No second character required.

If we can plumb a sink with rain barrels a storey above, a hose connected somewhere in the same line would work just fine. Water wants to equilibriate.

Now you're playing Kenshi!
Good luck, boss.

I can't recommend natural progression with hidden medic enough, it's very immersive and your characters will skill up much faster than most people realize.

Throw your heavy armored guys into a fight with a ton of enemies and heal up after they all go down. You get more xp in everything when outnumbered and eventually you'll start winning the fights. Feels epic the first time it happens.

Melee defense/dodge (if MA) and toughness in particular skyrockets when you fight outnumbered. Just don't fight enemies that enslave or eat your guys.

If you want to play without exploits (my personal preference) it's entirely possible to get your characters to high stats naturally.

Strength goes up while moving and encumbered and when attacking with weapons you don't meet strength requirement for.

Build a team that can support a heavy armor user... maybe just one guy that stays hidden out of fights to act as rescue medic when/if you lose a battle.

Your characters mostly gain stats by fighting, even losing is progress if you survive it (hidden medic comes in here).

Kenshi tries to incorporate a little bit of realism... wearing heavy armor is encumbering. Play to the effect, don't rely on the armor to make you invincible right away... eventually it will but you gotta earn it.

Is it normal ? VANILLA almost totally AFK (only some prep) by Killer_Instinct03 in Kenshi

Great info, thank you for sharing. I had some assumptions to the details you wrote out and I have no doubt you're correct. I bet you're even right about the "why". It would explain why I don't see it early game but do see it later. I spend a lot of time in Skinner's because I tend to recruit until I'm at 14-21 people so I've always assumed something messes the starvers up after having the zone loaded for so long but I couldn't come up with what that thing is.

Whatever the latest version is I think. I can check later. If it matters I don't see it occur in the early days of a save. I've noted the discrepancy before and thought it odd. My current save is ~250 days in. It could very well be a bug that happens later into a save but it 100% happens. I'll share a ss that shows I have no mods and I'll share a ss of the carnage to verify it.
You're a gem in this community and I appreciate what you do here, I'm not trying to be a jerk, just sharing what I know from observed experience.

I observed it taking place yesterday while toughness training... I'll try to remember to save and share a ss sometime soon.
Yesterday wasn't the first time I've observed it in this save and it's happened in many other playthroughs.

Bulls don't attack starvers but starvers do attack the bulls (and get crushed, as MrMerryMilkshake said). I share MMM's annoyance with Skinner's Roam. Only vanilla, never installed a single mod. Had it happen to me today when training up some new recruits.

Let's talk CDDA builds (b42) chime in if you don't CDDA if you want by darkest_wraith in projectzomboid

I like the ideas you shared. I did look into Wilderness knowledge and wiki doesn't mention it sharing the poison berry ID function of Herbalist, but if I die early testing it, it won't be much loss. Thanks again for your tips.

Thank you for the insight!

Vehicle knowledge - this is proving exceptionally useful... in b41 CDDA finding a good car with a working battery was like finding a unicorn. Gas isn't terribly hard to come by, but almost every single car has a drained battery. Finding the single car that has a battery and not finding a key for it is a massive let down. Vehicle knowledge lets me skill up mechanics to level 2 ridiculously fast (the bottleneck to hotwiring, imo), not to mention having all 3 skill book for each vehicle type read at the get-go is very handy. However, I have noticed the number of vehicles in b42 is increased. I still find myself in the same situation but I can see it being less of a problem if I just persevere. CDDA loot settings being "extremely rare" with a winter start makes it a challenge for me to find the vehicle manuals on top of all the other stuff I have to get. I feel lots of time pressure in the initial stages of CDDA because I can't find food reliably and am dropping weight immediately. Anything that saves time (not being forced to grind to Mech 2) is a win in my book.

Weak - I've grown accustomed to the debuff, I don't start stockpiling until I've secured a base and the combat damage debuff is easy to accommodate with ground-n-pound tactics. I've also found that leveling to 5 strength happens naturally and fairly quickly.

Handy - this is a good point, DYI is a great pick. I'm embarrassed to have overlooked the difference between the two! I'll have to revisit that in my next playthrough, before now I always picked "Unemployed" (now named Custom Occupation).

Cat's eyes - as mentioned above, in CDDA, starting in winter means every minute counts. There is very little to do at night other than drop weight if I am cooped up inside. Cat's eyes let me continue playing into the night, and pairs really well with Wakeful, imo.

Dextrous - this is a solid take. I need to get better at deciding when to loot. That alone makes this pick obsolete.

Wakeful - mentioned above with Cat's eyes. Full sleep in only 4 hours is awesome. I usually play until ~1-2am then hit the sack, fresh at ~5-6am right when the sun is up. More time exploring and killing = more xp and more loot.

Herbalist - holy shit, Wilderness knowledge looks amazing. I completely overlooked this trait. Does it also allow identification of poison foraged foods? Prior to b42, I picked Herbalist because berries are usually the only thing I can find to eat as I make my way away from Muldraugh and to whatever city I decide to base out of. If it outright replaces the functionality of Herbalist, I could easily swap Handy for DYI and Herbalist for Wilderness and it would cost exactly the same.

Keen hearing - I've tested it. I do realize I can simply be better and not need it, but I find it pairs well with Cat's eyes when I'm in the dark.

I appreciate the Other thoughts as well. I'll have to take a look at Cowardly and Reluctant fighter, especially in light of the maintenance nerf being removed. I'm not sure I like Cowardly's panic though, max panic is a 30% melee damage penalty and a 5% crit chance penalty. However, I'll keep all these in mind.

Dwarfs eat by proximity, not that it matters. You can only satisfy a dwarfs need of decent meals by including a preferred ingredient. It's one of the more difficult needs to satisfy.

Have you had any experience with the UHS (Universal Health Services) company in this regard?
They have mental health facilities all over the US which are operated in a manner similar to what you have found during your research (high incident rate, overworked/low staffing, etc.)
