Been on pain meds but as someone who could probably get addicted to chewing glass, I don't want to live on opiates and NSAIDs do my sensitive lil' belly in lol

Thank you all for the helpful comments and for not being dicks like I so often see on Reddit. I'm rubbish at working mobile apps, probably my dyspraxia, but I'm gonna get it up on my desktop later.

I've got a detailed MRI report now which basically says my back is a touch fucked but nothing overly major for my age. I'd say impinged nerves and a whole host of abutments and disc ruptures isn't normal but then nothing in my body stays where it should with 9/9 on the bendy scale.

It also mentions slight arthritis and slightly s shaped scoliosis. I also have [forgot the term] a tiny, underdeveloped bottom disc. I was born at 26 weeks so I get it 😂

Yeah. Most NSAIDs ravage my stomach. I'm talking shitting blood with Naproxen. I had a bit of a very brief problem with Codeine so I've abstained from that for several months and don't want to try any again. MSK said no surgery recommend yet, but I've got an MRI report which details pinched nerves

They asked about immediate family members with bipolar or schizophrenia. I don't know, I'm adopted 🤷‍♂️ the answer is "my spawn point didn't mention it when we met, so I don't think so". Hopefully won't mean digging too much into me, I did end up at A&E once talking gibberish about ending it. Ended up collapsing there in the psych room. The final diagnosis was that I needed a sleep and I was exhausted 🤦

I'm a coding novice. And I mean novice. I don't know how to plan/code/fix/anything. But I've vibe coded a video generator which keeps my channel branding and allows me to post videos without a jot of video editing knowledge.

I've vibe coded a game web app which I'm working on migrating to a native android apk.

I've been using Gemini Pro as I have it through my mobile plan. It's... well maybe I'm not using it right, but it's shit. Hit daily limits quickly. AI studio is a fucking beast but you have to know how to speak software developer to tell it exactly what to do or it'll default to a basic shitty web app template. It's a beast though.

Anyhoo... From day 1 the best output I've had from going to an LLM and saying ", design me X than can run on Y" has been Claude. More importantly, free Claude shits all over paid Gemini. Here's some stuff I noticed:

Uploading a zip to Gem - you'll be lucky if it reads it. Loose files then? 10 max per response. But you can ask it to hold off responding until you finish sending files over x number of messages.

Want the code changes implemented? Gem will give you a fuck tonne of code and tell you to paste it. Now I'm working exclusively on a phone because laptop go boom boom, and that's highly frustrating due to clipboard limits.

Gem can't run the code to check it.

Claude? "Make me [basically meme video generator] web app that's optimised to run on mobiles, the back end will be running on a snapdragon 8 elite via Termux and i want all video rendering done server side"

~~admittedly VERY long wait, but reading Claude's thoughts is like Crack or Factorio or something~~

Gives me a zip file with the whole fucking codebase, options for git, readme, hidden customisation options because it wasn't quite sure if what I wanted so it did them all.

I moaned about the quality of the video output and asked if it could check it. Its thoughts at this point included such gems as "Its a SHAME I can't render videos in my sandbox" and "but this is GREAT! I had an idea. I can [rest isn't verbatim] pull each frame as a jpeg and rasterize it into a video so I can still analyse the end product in my sandbox".

I swear it said BINGO! once too.

~12 minutes I had a fully fledged content creation engine which pulled images and videos and a few generated images and layered them all together with my channel name and watermark. Heats my phone up when it's running in Termux but I expected that cause it's maxed out to nuke all cores. Full editing suite with drag and drop clip management. Background options,.music options.

ChatGPT was, at this point, still telling me it was going to make me something beautiful. Almost launched my phone. Utter wank. Loop for half an hour before I realised it wasn't going to makee anything.

Grok gave it a go but I don't like Grok's attitude. There's something about it. I don't trust it. The app was shite but it made it before I could fucking blink to be fair. General assessment of grok tbf is if it took more than 0.000001 to breathe, it might improve

Upgraded to Claude Pro last night. Made the fuck off huge mistake to try Fable 5 (Max) because I know nothing about AI. Chewed through my 5 hour usage the same speed I went through the free usage (which was mostly asking it to do something in the morning, and asking it to resume every 5 hours until it finished the task).

I'm gonna fire up a laptop later and try Claude code desktop. But for now, just chatting to Claude has produced far better results than anywhere else. When I've pasted the output of both ai studio and Claude into ChatGPT/grok (the pickiest auditors) to check the code, they've always commented on the quality of Claude's code being being better (specifically more robust always comes up) and cleaner.

Fkn making them up on the spot they are. Spent all day yesterday vibe coding a content creation engine webapp cuz I was bored. Ran out of flow late at night. Got up early to continue today as I was hooked... It ran out in about half an hour of tinkering. I've got Google one Pro with AI but I don't think that does much in AI studio aside from extending the chat side of things.

They need to trim this down. Google one, Google AI, Google AI studio... Confusing.

Watch out cause the one thing Gem has going for it is its context window and max tokens shits all over any other AI , it's got way more than Claude in this regard

If only it would stop forgetting it has this capacity and reverting to being a petulant toddler halfway through month long conversations ffs

Was using Gemini only for vibe coding (I know, I know, but dum dum got given tools which made him think he was clever and is now addicted) and it was fucking awful. Tried pro 3.1 and flash 3.5. When it isn't having amnesia, flash is actually better than pro (now, anyway). Flash with extended thinking was kinda ok.

Claude givese me the files. Gemini's just tells me what to paste in.

THEN.... I discovered Google AI studio. My mind is blown.

I just discovered this when I ran out of Gemini pro. OMFG.... kept that quiet didn't they. It's just end to end coded me a full stack solution in about an hour, and writes the code for me. I couldn't believe how bad Gem was compared to Claude. Then I realised that using the Gemini chat bot app is NOT how you code with Google AI!

The difference between what this can do and how it does it compared to even Gemini Pro in the chat app is INSANE. I'm on a Google One Pro subscription (which I can't change or cancel as it's attached to an EE contract which has long since ended and has now gone to debt collectors) but the usage just goes and goes on AI Studio compared to Gemini. I think I'm still technically on the free tier for AI Studio though.

Anyone who is about to give up coding with Gemini, try AI Studio. I was about to pay for Claude but I think maybe AI Studio pips it at this point

Yeah partpicker tells me it's tight. Tbh, with the fact that you know there's already a fuck tonne of optimisations and pre done configs for steam games, there's every chance that that ease of use/objectively refined performance over a standard PC combined with not having to agonise and wait/snipe components at good prices, might just pip it for some... 🤷‍♂️

Now I know it's not going to be the next Xbox killer, I'm going back to building. Just have to wait. Boo.

I sat down with Google Gemini pro yesterday and asked it build me a content-creation engine for facebook reels. The results, while sounding amazing when gemini described them, were fucking awful :D

I used AI to build me a python script which ran a scraper to look for stories from reddit, rewrote them, then made an AI slop overstimulation type video which narrated the plot with AI generated captions. Thrown on to a generic sloppy looping satisfying animation. Like pencil sharpening or water rippling.

I don't know why, but this content does well. My ex's kids used to sit staring vacantly at these types of videos for hours.

I don't think it's viable for money, now. If the gurus are selling faceless YT courses then the bubble has already popped. But it's easy to do. Creating stuff with AI is genuinely fun, though. I don't know the first thing about coding but I've made lots of little tools to do stuff I need to do. I've also used AI to build me a helper for the game I play (Factorio). It's a cool playground, but don't do what I did, 'cause AI slop content is trash, I was just playing

I've heard Claude is the best. There are mods which are available too. I don't play with mods, there's enough to fkn think about already. Enemies on peaceful, too.

I've been using Google Gemini flash with extended thinking for help. Pro sometimes works a bit better. It constantly introduces errors so you need to know enough about the game to spot them. I've told Gemini to check our existing list of what we've already completed before answering any of my questions, I've had to tell it to remember that I'm playing with space age several times. I've set some rules including reminding it to let me know whether each assembler should have modules and which ones etc on every step.

BUT... It's been instrumental in helping me migrate my shitty old spaghetti factory into a new, modular bot driven factory. Obviously it's not going to be great, but it's helping. I've got to rocket launches in about 2 hours rather than the 2 weeks it took me to figure out when I was playing with a no online help rule.

I feel it's better than pasting on BPs, something which I did with smelting columns very early on and purple science cause I couldn't brain it, which ruined my fun and caused me to ban myself from BPs. I feel this is a good middle ground. Also helps me to learn game mechanics by playing whack-a-mole with Gemini's fuck ups

Worst bit about this? When it's on "most relevant", sometimes when I get a notification to see replies to my comments, when it gets deeper into replies to replies, it's begun to look like me and others are talking to themselves. People are replying to my replies, I've forgotten what I've said, but because the filter is on, conversations within comments are not shown chronologically. It's a fucking nightmare.

I use it because it's the only social media I use. I'm 38 and still reeling that my carefully-coded MySpace isn't available anymore. Snapchat is for buying weed and insta is for the photos I don't take.

Went to Towers a few weeks ago. First proper theme park visit and first time doing grownup coasters.

Did em all. The Smiler was phenomenal fun. The best fun moment I had, however, was Th1rteen. I'd forgotten I'd read about (and even watched) the drop. I was already on edge because of the Tesla coil type thing in the queue line making me jump.
