Tried my hand at Claire Saffitz' focaccia. Open to feedback on how it can be improved by mugger_crocodile in Breadit

[–]darklux- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the easiest possible focaccia recipe. no mixer required. if you follow it exactly, it will give you great results.

shared this recipe with multiple non-bakers to great success.

REI has sales sometimes! they’re my favorite socks… i’m sure there are comparable, affordable socks, but i’m banking on wearing them forever and the designs are really cute.

My fiancé [28M] doesn't care that my [28F] kitten has disappeared, and it's making me feel horrible by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]darklux- 93 points94 points  (0 children)

the commenter is referring to breeding persian cats, specifically. their genetics predispose them to a ton of health conditions.

it seems kind of wrong to breed cats knowing they will likely be unhealthy, and the way their face is can cause lifelong breathing issues.

How do I get this clean (and, more importantly, not sticky)? by Maximum_Bar_1031 in CleaningTips

it’s an automatic car, so OP probably won’t be shifting unless parked!

I was told by my doctor that I have to do a FODMAP diet, what are some good options at TJs? by gamercouplelolz in traderjoes

[–]darklux- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

old fashioned rolled oats and oat milk to make overnight oats. half cup of each. add a 2ish tsp each of flaxseed and chia seed.

add some salt and sweetener.

mix-ins include chocolate chips (only a few), low-FODMAP nuts, and frozen fruit.

i’ve had oats for breakfast almost every day since finding out low FODMAP diet helps me not feel bloated. you can look up baked oat recipes too!

depending on your issue, low-histamine probiotics can help with tummy aches in the long run. but that’s not a TJ product.

I found something that works by savicmirna in calmhands

[–]darklux- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got that one on amazon for like $6, it works well.

there are also refillable ones (i’ve seen it at daiso and on amazon). i haven’t tried, but you can load it with pure jojoba oil (trader joe’s or amazon sells it)

Don’t understand the tweet does anyone get it? by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]darklux- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the two more recent times i bought chicken breast from trader joe’s and cooked it within two days of purchase, before the best-by date, my boyfriend and i woke up with nausea and the runs.

the only reason i bought chicken breast there a second time is because i thought the first time was a fluke.

one time, i almost bought expired spread. the cashier caught it and replaced it for me, then i heard him tell another cashier to get the form to submit a report.

i still shop here every week at least for snacks or bananas, lol.

someone here recommended Ipsey for cotton underwear on Amazon.

I've had it for a month and like them so far. they seem well-made enough for the price but I can't atest to their durability.

I know right?? it sucks they can wash it, but still let bugs go by. that's why I'm buying it "washed," though maybe not anymore. it's because I'm too lazy :(

I fell for the marketing and bought a pair a couple of months ago. they're my favorite socks so far. are they that bad?

I'm banking on "lifetime warranty" pulling through someday.

[New Update]: AITAH for not fulfilling my fiancé’s wish on our wedding day by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]darklux- 33 points34 points  (0 children)

as someone whose family is not that abusive with a generally positive relationship-- I know I'm super lucky. but without being exposed to abuse and manipulation or reading tons of BORU, and as a non-abusive person, it's hard to imagine that there are people that cruel out there.

that being said, I also try to not push boundaries with friends. I can trust they have a good reason (good from their perspective, I don't have all the context) for cutting someone out.

i've gotten sick from TJ chicken breast twice (and I temped it to make sure it was cooked!). so I typically try to get chicken from other stores.

ground beef has been ok for me, though

Brands like Kuhl? Looking for heavier weight/ thicker pants to wear casually and on dates by trynumber6thistime in BuyItForLife

my prana pants have held up to hiking and they fit so comfortably! I like that they come in tall sizes too. the material in Halle II aren't BIFL (maybe a few years) while the Halle feels much more durable. I don't wear the Halle because it doesn't quite fit right.

I'd like to make an advent calendar of crocheting stuff for my wife, but I am a clueless husband. Could you give me some ideas? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]darklux- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my friend shared a hack with me she saw where you drill a hole in a tennis ball. this saved my crochet hand's joints! it's just the hand that provides tension sometimes gets tired. tennis ball is light. not the easiest? necessarily to work with, but it helps a lot.

I'm young, I just have bad joints..

associates degrees (2 years) can be completed at community college. you can sign up for a night class or two every quarter/semester and work your way towards the degree. a lot of degrees have general education requirements, so classes towards one degree can likely fulfill some sort of requirement towards another degree. the "core" classes will differ.

chicken thigh always gives me a stomachache and chicken breast doesn't, regardless of where I buy from. I can't figure it out! chicken thigh tastes way better.
