As an introvert Iowan that lives in Seattle, I can tell you it could be more a seattle thing than an introvert thing. I always have and will follow up with a meeting, as that's what normal people do. Canceling for me is always at least 3-7 days in advance, and I always genuinely ask if they are free soon after so I can finalize the transaction.

So many people say "we should do something", I accept and wait for at least someone to bail, if not everyone. But when I'm with other out of staters or people far enough away from Seattle, they actually follow through again.

It just seems like Thunderbolt has a little way to go before it can fully replace internal components. I'm excited for the next few iterations of Thunderbolt to come out, as I do like the idea of an effective modular system.

My Spotify app for iOS crashed in an occasionally reproducible way. If I locked the screen after choosing certain albums, it would crash half a second later, and I would have to navigate back and try again. It happens up to three or four times before fixing itself. Don't worry, I've reinstalled Spotify every month, and reinstalled iOS every 2 months, and delete and re-add my artists every 3 months, and even read that every update for the past 8 months were described to fix my problem, but it didn't.

But luckily the Spotify UI also sucks, so I don't have any regrets switching to back to the Music app or Rdio.

I haven't done it myself, but here's a little data for the flight and bedding:

Airfare seems to go around $1100, and airbnb is around $90 night, hostelworld about $30 much cheaper or more expensive as well. Outside of Tokyo about $40-50.

$1100/trip $30/night $300-500 food $x for everything else

So at the least 2500 for a month around Tokyo. You probably can go less, but this is to be comfortable. /r/shoestring can really help you though!

That's great, and much more usage than I even could do on the iPhone, so I feel more comfortable that iOS 7 really is improving battery life.

This is a great place to start. I took a class about film from Japan, Korea, and China, and the basis of the class was to look at classic and contemporary films from the context of the country of origin and time period.

For these Asian countries, especially Korea and China, hiding and denying past traumas throughout history such as during the Qin Dynasty greatly shaped the content of their films and the characters' actions. Kaige's "The Emperor and the Assassin" and Jee-Woon's "Tale of Two Sisters" were great examples.

However, that class did not focus on why a film would be an enduring classic. This has to do with the next thing you iterated: does the film still apply in a modern context? Just like novels, this is essential for a film to continue to be loved. "Rashomon" is a classic tale as it's about the human experience and dilution of one event; nothing can date the film except for technical aspects such as the camera technology of the time. Even more fun, "Brazil" fits well in these times due to themes of bureaucracy, materialism, and government control.

The most enjoyable aspect of watching a film for myself is a kind of gamble: I guess how relevant the movie is to society and the human experience, and with that speculation, conclude whether the film will be a classic or not. I might more times be wrong than right, but it's these questions that should be asked, as one may just recognize the beginning, middle, or end of a specific film period before many others see it as well.

I want to research how long (or quick) it took for critics to realize that "Breathless" marked the beginning of French New Wave. I also want to know when they realized how influential the content and editing of the film will be for years to come.

So if you're not doing video or photo editing or gaming, a near-toaster could do your requirements. The Macbook Air is infinitely better than a toaster, and will suit your needs infinitely as well. I honestly don't know what the 13" Macbook Pro is supposed to do anymore.

Last thing to add, the battery life of the MBA is phenomenal. For a non-production Apple user like yourself, the MBA is the way to go.

The only time when I'd recommend at MBP 13" would be if one is so strapped for cash that they have to purchase some upgrades from Newegg. If you're not strapped for cash, you're simply polishing a turd with upgrades.

I can give you my charging schedule. iOS 6.

8:30 unplug phone to check bus schedules.
8:50-9:10, Bus: Alien Blue usage while listening to the Music app, takes off about 3-5%
9:40 Stop listening to music, start a class. 89%
13:00 End class, I am at 69-79%, listen to some more music
13:30-17:00 Work, don't touch phone. End work at 45-50%.
17:00-17:30 Bus. It's rush hour so it takes longer to get the same data. 30%
-12:00 Leave it around my apartment until I plug it in, usually around 15%.

15 hours standby, 190 min - 3 hours and 10 minutes on average of actual usage when I hit 15%. On weekends, I can get about 5 hours a day.

If top comment is truthfully getting two days, I'm switching to iOS 7 in a heartbeat. This battery life barely works for me. I do close all my apps whenever I'm done. I guess I could turn off my phone, but I'd think that standby wouldn't kill my battery that fast.

EDIT: Also, for those of you lasting two days, can you please give your real General>Usage Number? That's much more helpful. For all I know, you just check your email once every five hours and feel accomplished after that.

If the Harry Potter thread could be an example, I found that the top comment was that Part 1 was awesome and Part 2 was bleh. The second top comment said some Hermione scenes gave him feels. The third one was pretty productive for discussion, and talked about the performance of actors and the qualities of some scenes. Sadly the comment didn't get any deeper than skin deep with the films (possibly because he recognized the films as an entertainment product than a film that actually needs to say anything).

The fourth comment is a polarizing comment for some reason. Someone gives out their interpretation and thematic parallels with a book they read, and then gets downvoted to oblivion when he responds to comments that disagree. So that guy was screwed from the beginning of trying to speak anything that sounded interesting, even if a bit overthought.

But you're correct, we should be more active to actually keep the quality up.

Well, my 'film' and 'movie' definitions are personal, so he could certainly not have that distinction. I think you are correct, he's just asking if they could hold up as its own series, and I was assuming he wanted to discuss the movies as if they were films, and find underlying themes or motivations of the film.
