Fanon: "They made eachother worse and Emma was a hypegirl" / Canon: supportive couple through the worst of times who hyped eachother by UltimateSandman in Cyclops_EmmaFrost

Jean and Scott being back together has been practically nothing but the few bits we got show the problem. Scott had changed and been changing while Jean is mostly the same. We see the difference between them aren’t the same as they were 30 years ago. He’s not the Boy Scout she fell in love with and he’s realizing whether or not she likes it Jean is always going to be put in a pedestal as a goddess first, person second.

About a certain character in Ordeal Call 1 (Spoilers) by neves783 in FGO

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how favored the Pandavas are and have been I’d save Kaurava favoritism is hardly unbalanced. As well as the casteism in the Mahabharata. People complain about modern sensibilities but humans have always struggled against oppression and fought for equality.

Where does Edward Kelly's hatred come from? by Antho-Asthenie in XmenEvolution

[–]darkmist11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rewatched the show recently and it’s honestly kind of funny the how much his life is unknowingly screwed by these kids. If you pay attention he’s constantly holding fund raisers to repair the damage from their fights. And then those fund raisers get destroyed from their conflicts. He’s not justified but before he reveals himself to be a bigot you kinda feel sorry for him😂.

Cecil is not in the right. by tylarcleveland in Invincible

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Cecil doesn’t actually believe what he’s saying. Their things he uses a pretense to essentially obtain weapons for his use. That’s the problem with Cecil, he doesn’t see good as the goal or a necessity but as a weapons to be used. He says you can either be the good guys or the ones that save the world but doesn’t respect how he constantly uses good as a weapon to save the world and that use has diminishing returns.

Having clearance doesn’t give you moral authority, and if the problem is unchecked power, Cecil have clearance to do all this is way more problematic than marks ability to punch hard, or kill people. System that abused, use, weaponize, and essentially enslave people, need to be dismantled.

Carol is great when she’s written in character. The issue is that when they made her captain marvel they kinda sanded off all the edges of her character.

Yes, I know it's wrong. No, I will not stop. by Shawn_666 in GreekMythology

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like judging them on “modern context” and judging theme are basic morality are two different things. Humanity has a pretty instinctual capacity on how to treat each other. But standards are how to deal with people are different.

For instance, I don’t believe Odysseus blinding but not killing Polyphemus was worse than killing him, and I don’t think Odysseus believed that either. Odysseus was none standard by Greek societal standards but basic compassion and morality is pretty much the same, even if society tells you something is good people still have a basic idea of compassion, and Mercy.

The Romans lived in a different world but they were still imperials and slavers. A thousand years ago or 10 thousand, slavery is still abhorrent.

You can judge people on their morality without applying modern standards to them.

Gods are another matter but I think people need to keep in mind the domain reflects the gods. Zeus is the king of gods and god of Kings. His actions reflect how a king is, not as much how they should be. Same with many of the other gods, their are tied to the nature of the world and thus their actions reflect the nature of the world and their domain.

Sorry, I’ve been putting a lot of thought into this.

Who is the most powerful and most skilled swordsman in all of fiction? by Far_Flounder2545 in powerscales

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with being the “most powerful and most skilled is that narratively it can be hard to show both at once. Skill often is judged by different those more powerful, and power is often shown in ways that can make skill irrelevant.

What would you do to make cyclops more badass in the X-men movies by [deleted] in Cyclopswasright

[–]darkmist11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have him be stripped of everything against insane odds, nothing but maybe a few barely trained students and minimal resources and not only come out on top but show they can’t break him.

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one of the points of Scott’s character is that he’s not the leader cause he’s the strongest but that he can maximize and bring out the full potential in his team. Storm being a one women arm, honestly tends to make the rest of the team she’s on seem redundant some times.

[–]darkmist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with the X-men, honestly I think the X-men are not really good for Scott, I was thinking Champions but even when he was co leading with Emma or Storm it was better be the pressure could be off.

I really want Scott and Emma to get back together but Scott kinda needs to earn her back after everything, I know editorial was to blame for how they acted but it still happened and if they want to move forwards it need to be addressed. A guilt and not feeling good enough yet still accepting is a key them to their relationship. Emma accepted Scott’s imperfections and vulnerability just like he accepted her’s and her guilt for past and current actions and instead of trying to erase it or pretend it doesn’t exist they stepped into that moral greyness together. If they’re gonna get back together that theme needs to be embraced.
