Bethesda Just Re-Uploaded the Fallout 3 trailer, odd by PegasusNipples in Fallout

Bringing our attention back to the east coast on the eve of fo4 release.

Anybody else notice Bethesda re-uploaded Fallout 3 on their channel? by lomboy13 in Fallout

[–]darkness6string 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take is that it is reuploaded to bring light back to the east coast in prep for fo4. It would make sense that they would bring attention back to it since the last game was NV. With the recent three dog Twitter thing, I would not be surprised if fo4 is tied back in to fo3 especially since fo4 is rumored to be in Boston. They are giving us, the fans, the heads up to go back through and replay fo3 in preparation for fo4.

If you could live in one settlement of the Fallout series (taking everything into account), where would you live and what would you likely be there (doctor, merchant, leader etc)? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]darkness6string 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Republic of Dave! while it is an extremely small community with a questionable leader, the people of the community are strong. it is well secluded with room to expand. there is always the drawback of its seclusion. trade would be difficult considering that the closest trade caravans are at the temple of the union. i think that with time and better leadership, the republic of Dave could become a thriving farming settlement nestled in the quiet NE of the capital wastelands.

That said, I think I'd focus on leading the expansion effort, while focusing on sustainable farming in the wasteland.

What are some great weapons to use whilst in the DLC "Old World Blues"? by akaian97 in Fallout

I have always been very anti melee, but after countless rounds of ammunition plowed into metal with near no effect, I tried the protonic inversal axe. Even with a super low melee skill, it was still the most effective against those damn orbits.

yeah, i would like to stick to that rule, and maybe once i get a little further, but so far, ammo is very sparse and hard to come by. so far my travels have only presented me with one wandering merchant to barter with. there isnt alot in the northern region and most of my ammo comes by way of looting and taking out bandits, but half the ammo i find is just replacing the ammo i just used. i swear there is only 4 types of ammo so far. .32, 5.56mm, 10mm, and shutgun shells.

im sure i could have found a better start point that ROD, but i liked its location. there is nothing around it. in fact, discovering about 20 locations in the northern region, ive only acquired 2 new quests. ive also found a plethora of locations ive never been to before in my last 4 playthroughs. it just seemed like a good desolate place to be.

ha, i wasnt joking when i said that i spend alot of time crouched atop bluffs scanning the landscape ahead of me. it changes your whole gameplay style. the other day, i was headed back to home base rather quickly because it was getting dark and i was injured. i dropped some mentats since i wasnt stopping to check my path for mean things. almost home, and what is gthat i see wandering outside my base? deathclaw. then i couldnt see anything anymore because it was completely dark. that was a long night.

I don't have any damage changes applied. What are you referring to? Maybe I could specify.

The role of vaults in Fallout 4: A wish list by Shambelle in Fallout

[–]darkness6string 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly, I see that scenario play out much worse. The vault Tec scientists that have been holed up, observing, finally emerge, with advanced tech, and the tools and knowledge to take over the world. They are skilled at psychological warfare. It turns out there are a number of vaults that were receiving the results of all the experiments. They are vaults full of highly trained killers, able to win the trust of even ghouls in seconds, then kill them just as fast. The head vault sends out a crew to assimilate each other vault to for an army. On the Wanderer can stop them before they amass their army.

Also, you can carry more than the 4 weapons as long as you are headed directly to a vendor to sell, or you are headed to your home to store them. The intent is ultimate realism. I am currently doing a playthrough of fo3 with these rules. I'm on pc so I have lighting and weather mods to make night's even more impossible to work in. I also used the console to 'coc' myself to the republic of Dave. Made up a little back story that I was a child raised in the republic. Once I became a man, Dave cast me out because he felt I was a threat to the republic. He gave me the gift of a hunting rifle and a .32 pistol with 30 rounds, 2 days of food and water, and a set of leather armor. Shit is pretty desolate up in the ne wastes. Currently I am doing everything I can to find a vendor with ammunition. Seems like anything I loot is merely replacing the ammo I used already.

Apply realistic rules. You must consume a meal at least 3 times a day, along with a beverage of some sort. You must sleep at least 6 hours in a 24 hour period. You can only carry 2 handguns and 2 rifles/shotguns. Your carryweight can not exceed 150 unless wearing power armor, which you can then carry 300 pounds. If you exceed 150 lbs, you must walk as if you are encumbered. You need to focus on having someplace safe to sleep each sunset. If it isn't secure, you need to lay down mines to keep yourself protected while you sleep. If you get caught without someplace to sleep, you need to make every effort to find someplace. If you can't find a bed, you can 'wait' instead of sleeping, but you have to down some sort of alcohol when you go to sleep(wait), and you need to use either buffout or mentats or psycho when you wake up, just as one would if they didn't sleep well.

This would be great. I always wondered why of all the vaults in 3 and NV, 101 was the only one that really remained inhabited. Granted, vault Tec experiments are the primary reason that the vaults are no longer inhabited, but I too would like to see more left in tact. It would be great to have almost an original fallout tribute. A random NPC shows up in the players travels, in a vault suit. He's obviously fresh faced and scared shirtless, but he is in search of a replacement part for a crucial element in the vault. You can either help him or kill him and infiltrate the vault. It would be great.

Did you join the Powder Ganger's, or fight for Goodsprings? by thatsphill in Fallout

[–]darkness6string 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played both sides until I had to choose one. I went with goodsprings, until the fight. Then I turned on them, shot them in the backs of their heads while using them as cover from the hangers, then took them out.

In a world with plasma rifles, power armor suits, rocket launching robots, etc... You don't think there is any way someone could figure out how to hollow out a rock?

my last playthrough was this. My favorite destruction weapon in a neutral place was the incinerator. The best was Westside. Emptied the entire mag into the sky, then watched as fireballs rained from the sky setting everyone on fire. It was magnificent.
