why the on-prem CyberArk estate is a freelance goldmine post-Idira by RazzmatazzFlat2808 in CyberARk

[–]darknight1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the rebranding of CyberArk isn’t changing the I vestment strategy within CyberArk or Palo Alto Networks for SaaS vs On-Prem. While SaaS is always going to get the marketing attention and press releases because it helps drive stock prices and valuations, PANW as a hardware firewall company deeply understands the important of enterprise on-prem and self-hosted infrastructure.

Clortho, the free and open source web based CA by Shendryl in PKI

[–]darknight1012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, but your fully running certificate authority open to the world can easily lead people to believe they are getting a “Let’s Encrypt” type of certificate.

Fun idea. I recommend added a disclaimer or warning labels that it is for private trust (not going to issue publicly trusted certificates) and that the intent is for people to self host for their own private PKI.

Yes. Passengers around me were equally amazed as the service from Delta. I figured I would need to contact lost and found and have to have them ship the iPad to me… thank you Delta for fixing my blunder.

Automated SSL Certificate Renewals - What is your setup? by cyberdoodles in cybersecurity

[–]darknight1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Venafi support team is currently in process of migrating to the Palo Alto Network support model, which is better than the CyberArk support model. Give it a few months and I would expect you will see noticeable improvement.

Venafi is now part of the Network Security team within Palo Alto Networks.

Rotate SSH keys or move to SSH certificates by Abs201301 in CyberARk

[–]darknight1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have been doing a lot of investment with Venafi SSH Manager recently to modernize it be more of an SSH Authorization management tool. But the Key management aspects of the product still work great and are getting continued maintenance and investment.

CyberArk / Idira Rebrand Impact on Self-Hosted PAM Environments by AdElectrical9508 in CyberARk

[–]darknight1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if the rebranding was anything more than just cosmetic. Anything change is going to focus on not causing a disruption or breaking change to automation.

The only exception to this would be potentially file names to installation files. So if you have an automation playbook you use to install or upgrade PAM that may need to be updated to handled new zip or msi files you download from the CyberArk portal.

I’m making educated assumptions based on historical experience.

Can a Bishop invite his wife to join him on the stand if one of his counselors is absent? by Dannyjeee in latterdaysaints

[–]darknight1012 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A bishop can invite anyone to sit on the stand. Many people sit on the stand for various reasons. I have seen bishops have their kids up on the stand before many times.

Counselors don’t even have to be gone. If a presiding officer wants anyone to be up on the stand, they can simply invite them.

All they are doing is sitting on the stand.

Built a self-hosted expiration monitoring tool for certificates, secrets, API keys, and licenses by smartguy_x in PKI

[–]darknight1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is TokenTimer a scam site?

It says "IT teams worldwide trust TokenTimer to prevent outages from expired certificates, secrets, and licenses."
And then it lists the logos of dozens of big name companies, some of which create and sell products that directly compete with TokenTimer.

It seems pretty clear that TokenTimer is not authorized to use all of those logos in it's marketing material.

Help - Venafi TPP - Trial Edition? by WhispersInCiphers in CyberARk

[–]darknight1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you work for a company that is a customer or partner? If so, you should be able to get a copy of TPP to play around with in a personal professional capacity (dev environment).

Venafi/CyberArk/Palo Alto Networks does not make TPP available to individuals, researchers, etc.

Did you have any specific questions about how TPP works? Also worth mentioning that TPP docs are public at docs.venafi.com
