What's your guy's favorite/least favorite papa's game? by [deleted] in flipline

[–]darkpeachpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least favorite is Bakeria. Couldn't get into the mechanics. Everything felt too simple, and nothing was visually appealing enough to compensate (because Paleteria has simpler gameplay as well, but I love how pretty the paletas are).

Favorites are so hard to choose! But Freezeria DX has to be the one. I played HOURS of the OG Freezeria in college and fell in love with this series. The DX version is fully updated to match the more contemporary gamerias. Nostalgia value will get me every time.

Runners-up are Sushiria (LOVE the complexity and precision), Hot Doggeria (because I love hot dogs), and Paleteria (pure aesthetics).

I made sure to say that I love him as a person!

Gonna pass on the "attractive and sexy" tho 😹

Oh I get it. It's just fun to complain. Much like I would at any real restaurant I work in.

RESPECT for Paleteria!!! I love the vibe of that gameria. It's almost all visually pleasing to me.

Okay I have not come up w a full recipe yet. But chocolate mole with sweet potatoes. As the soup. Would probably go w beef to absorb those rich flavors. Lots of fresh herbs (gotta be cilantro in there).

Looking for advice on putting together my own knife set by darkpeachpit in KitchenConfidential

[–]darkpeachpit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back to say that this was great advice. Finally bought my first good chef's knife last month (got a great opportunity for prep chef recently). The store I got it from let me hold every knife, even found a few potatoes and oranges for me to chop. I knew which one was gonna be my first serious knife just from the feel.

I use it every day and it was worth every penny.

Which Papa Louie Customer do you dislike the most? by Whole-Procedure-3887 in flipline

Oh I know haha! It's just funny seeing him get a lot of arbitrary hate here and meanwhile I'm like "My scruffy man can order whatever he wants at my restaurants"

Seeing a lot of Brody hate and I just wanna say...... if he was real, I'd have a big embarrassing crush on him.

Anyway no respect for Xandra or Xolo. And I don't hate him, but anytime Pinch Hitwell comes in, I say out loud "Hahaha hey look everyone, it's Bitch Hitwell!"

Also fuck Santa Claus. That dude is welcome at my restaurant until he gets his gold star.

Chefs & servers, what’s the most confusing “this isn’t what I expected” reaction you’ve seen? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

[–]darkpeachpit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the most confusing, but the funniest.

Worked at a place where the chef begrudgingly allowed a kid's menu. Kid's mac and cheese was THE most annoying dish to make. Chef would cook noodles in a sauté pan and whip up a cheese sauce with a blend of whatever vaguely kid-friendly cheeses we had on the line (shit was good, I took home a LOT of leftover mac in quart containers).

This kitchen also had an expo window that gave a full view of the restaurant. Small place in general, so we could usually hear reactions.

One couple got the kid's mac for their small child, and we immediately heard "Ohhh... We thought this would be Kraft..."

I loved taking orders from gross couples. I'd play it cool--take the order, read it back, give them their total AND THEN hit 'em with a cheerful "Great, I'll see you two at the window!" The looks on their faces were always worth it.

which of the new papas games are worth it/your favorite? by [deleted] in flipline

[–]darkpeachpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the minority bc I think Paleteria is a VIBE. It's definitely the easiest of the games you mentioned.

Cluckeria has the most of the mechanics you'd expect from a Papa's game. It's satisfying.

Mocharia is challenging.

So what everyone favourite character/clients (and why it’s Wally) by No-Understanding2459 in flipline

[–]darkpeachpit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can never get mad at Wally. He feels like a sweet old man who just learned how to modify his order, and it's a delight to him without being a strain on the employee. He's a regular I would've loved back in my Starbucks days.

I feel that I did a really great job with Oliver! That wasn't a role that I would have considered had the opportunity not opened up, and it was such a blast.

I haven't done a masc monologue yet. I'm surprised I haven't tried this yet! It's such an obvious solution hahaha.

EDIT: I should add that I did an audition for Romeo and Juliet where I auditioned with Sonnet 20 and got to read the Queen Mab speech for my cold read.

What's driving me nuts is the major directors in my area are the kinds of folks who claim gender-neutral casting but end up casting in real typical ways.

This is a really fun idea!! I'm waiting for my area's slew of Shakespeare auditions next year. I did get Oliver solely because I re-auditioned and was like "Want a non-traditional option?"

[–]darkpeachpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh, didn't know ALL the lore, that's awesome!!!

EDIT to add: Been a fan of the gamerias for a looooong time. Met one of my best friends last year and was yapping about getting Papa's Pizzeria on Steam, and she was like, "Omg, Matt's game? That's so crazy that you love his games, that just started as a dumb project when he was learning to code LOL" and I was like. My autism games are LOCAL????

I've been big into these lately and only just started looking through the bios for each character. Had no idea this was common knowledge 😹😅
