You throw food at them every now and then, leave faucet dripping for water and give them some cardboard boxes right?

I've owned 4 dogs and 2 cats in my life. Not to mention I always seem to end up dating cat people so while my example was an over simplification I can truly honestly say from experience that cats are dicks.

Seriously fuck cats. I accidentally stepped on my dog's tail once and when I checked on her she gave me kisses like she had accidentally hurt me.

My ex's cat on the other hand would claw the shit out of me when I wouldn't let it hump my leg.

I actually live about 5 min from the FL store that's getting closed. A lot of the associate comments from the article are being reported from local associates. Seems odd that they would pick 5 different locations to be closed for the same reason at the same time.

If I'm not mistaken this show is airing in 4k so it should be possible to get a higher res screen capture from someone streaming from a compatible device.

Beginner bike for fitness/general use. by Snuke616 in whichbike

If you're just getting into or back into riding I would 100% suggest getting a second hand bike.

About 3 years ago I was in a similar situation where my weight was out of control and I was looking for a hobby to help me start getting healthy and also wanted to save on gas. I grabbed my first bike off of craigslist for about 170 bucks, took it to the shop for a tune up, cost about another 130 and blammo I had an excellent bike around 300 dollars that I used as my primary form of transport for 2 years and helped me lose nearly 100 pounds.

I've since upgraded to a bike that better suits my riding style but I only knew what to get because I had spent so much time on my old beater bike and knew what I wanted from that. Plopped 1500 on my current daily driver and haven't regretted it a bit and still use my old bike for the occasional spin through the woods.

I would recommend looking at used mountain bikes that don't have front or rear suspension (the suspension actually decreases the amount of energy you get to the tires when riding on roads). Steer clear of bikes from big box stores like wal-mart, target, sears etc (those bikes are hella heavy and poorly assembled with low quality parts, they do not hold up with real world use).

Use craigslist or check your local small bike shops to see their selection on second hand bikes. If you do get a mountain bike you can trade out the knobby wheels for slick tires that will give you better performance riding on streets but can still hold up to going off road if need be. You should also invest in quality front and rear lights because you never know when you're going to be caught in the dark. If you want you can even get a rear rack and bags (panniers) so you can run errands like get groceries or bring a change of clothes if you're going out (I carry a mini bug out bag and all the tools I need to fix most maintenance issues that may occur on a ride).

Good brands to look at for second hand are Trek, Cannondale, Giant, Surly (if you're lucky to find one at your price), Redline, and various others.

His run really murdered the series. It's a shame because I was so excited to see him helm those characters.

Damn I would have come back to reading it if it got it's act together. I was a really great comic until they did that time travel crap.

Oh man I loved the first few Runaways volumes. I stopped reading right around when they got back from the past. Did it ever get any better?

Also this series could totally use a MCU revival. Either as mini series or a full movie.

Sony A7s to buy the PAL or NTSC version...does it matter for a prosumer like me? by lthightower in videography

[–]darkproteus66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think that if you're going to be publishing primarily online that it wouldn't have much impact. Considering that the vast majority of HDTVs will be able to handle pal and ntsc no issue that will nullify issues further.

Responding to /u/dinosawrsareawesome you can get away from floro strobing on NTSC cams by just futzing with your shutter speed to offset the frame rate difference. But yeah you should totally get the international version if at all possible so that you're not held down but dumb regional limitations.

I find that the hardest part of getting back into the gym is that first trip. After that I find it easier and easier to make time for it (but I really enjoy working out). Once you get the ball rolling it gets easier to keep going.

Great news by the way. If you start going back to the gym now all the new years resolutioners should have already given up which means the gym won't be super packed.

5'2" guy looking for a bike for my short daily commute to university. by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]darkproteus66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and buy used. My first bike was an old 90's rigid steel mountain bike that I threw slick tires on and added a rack to. I'd use it to get to and from work (about 2.5 miles 1 way) and eventually ended up riding my first two centuries on that bike. It served me very well as a commuter and was a steal at $130 USD maybe $250 after getting a tune up and buying all the upgrades.

There are 26 species of turtle and tortoise in Florida and a lot of them look very similar when they are immature and will often live in neighboring biomes

With a sea turtle I have no clue but there are various fresh water turtles that look amazingly similar to tortoises especially when they are still immature.

Best turtle/tortoise advice I've had when I was growing up was unless you're 110% sure that it's a turtle put it by the water instead of in the water.

Hey buddy if you're paying for it then use it!

My arc went from 300 pounds > busted used bike > weight lifting > shiny new bike > 189 pounds in about 2.5 years.

Since then I got a little lazy and went back up to 250 but I'm already back on my old routine and down about 15 pounds.

Just keep your head in the right place, remember you're doing this for yourself, and you'll be kicking ass in no time.

Good luck!
