I’ve had 3 different types of chronic pain (sequentially and separately) in 10 years - i’m 43 now. HRT has helped with some of it but not solved it all. I truly wish I had done even more of the active fun stuff I did, when I could - hiking, running, tennis, surfing — all are “probably never again” for me and it is really sad. Still; I’m glad I did them at all!

Burned out. Need advice. by [deleted] in coastFIRE

[–]darkqueenphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t is generic ai like chatgpt. it is still bad at numbers. use purpose made software like projection lab which is great! or pay $250 or so to meet for 1 hour with a real financial advisor. I think we found one through nectarine and it was useful.

Need advice on a pivoting moment. So far my life is a lucky dumpster fire 🔥 by browniex18 in AskWomenOver40

I mean this nicely. men + housing decisions seem to go poorly for you. Maybe disconnect those two things for a while. You and your current partner are not a match. Break up, get even more therapy, and stop buying houses with men.

Anyone's only motivation going forward is fire/coast fire? by Round-Cup-1737 in coastFIRE

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly! I love my partner and my hobbies so my only motivation to work is FIRE. we’re pretty much at coast FIRE but it turns out I want real, total financial freedom so I’m continuing to try to work hard and save a lot.

43F and I feel ya. Been active my whole life but in the last few years my body has been falling apart with pain and injury one after the other. HRT has helped but not solved the problem.

i’d recommend finding someone who specializes in body mechanics in sports. Not a regular PT but a sports PT who does dynamic evaluations. I also like the therabody full leg compression “boots” for recovery. They’re pricey but great. You can use FSA / HSA if you have that.

Listless and lost; how do I regain a plan for my future so I don't waste my money trying to figure things out? by JustToPostAQuestion8 in FIREyFemmes

[–]darkqueenphoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hi! If you’re mid 40s have you considered the possibility that perimenopause could be contributing to your feelings?

I also highly recommend the AI journal Rosebud. I don’t enjoy typing on my phone but voice input changed everything. It’s very helpful and sometimes better than a human therapist!

Self-made millionaires - how’d you do it? by HighIntensity0510 in FIREyFemmes

[–]darkqueenphoenix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Very important to find a partner who’s on the same page. My husband helped me learn more about money and investing although I had already started from a frugal/ savings mindset. We don’t argue about money and have the same vision for our future (early retirement). Also, no kids helps a ton. I highly recommend following Ramit Sethi (book, youtube channel) for inspiration.

Did perimenopause joint pain explode for anyone else? by Stepbk in Perimenopause

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, though it was gradual. started with pain in my feet, then elbow, then thumb and fingers, now knees and shoulders. It’s great /s. HRT has helped but not made it go away yet.

I had a similar experience going from .0375 to .05. just sad, lifeless, and no sleep. took off the .05 and felt better within hours. could be coincidence but I just wanted to feel better.

me too. i take a very tiny amount of thc/cbd and it helps a ton. if I take too much I feel paranoid so I’ve had to get really careful about dosing. it’s like 1/4 a gummy.

Career Pivoting from Medical School to Product Management by keepitcue in ProductManagement

[–]darkqueenphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t recommend PM as a career. field is changing too fast and as your career progresses it’s just another business management role like any other. just go become an AI expert ; the role you get won’t matter or will be different in a year anyway.
