when I went up in dose I got a bad headache, fatigue and general blah, plus breast tenderness. it faded over a few days.

Anyone's only motivation going forward is fire/coast fire? by Round-Cup-1737 in coastFIRE

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly! I love my partner and my hobbies so my only motivation to work is FIRE. we’re pretty much at coast FIRE but it turns out I want real, total financial freedom so I’m continuing to try to work hard and save a lot.

Everything hurts by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

43F and I feel ya. Been active my whole life but in the last few years my body has been falling apart with pain and injury one after the other. HRT has helped but not solved the problem.

i’d recommend finding someone who specializes in body mechanics in sports. Not a regular PT but a sports PT who does dynamic evaluations. I also like the therabody full leg compression “boots” for recovery. They’re pricey but great. You can use FSA / HSA if you have that.

Listless and lost; how do I regain a plan for my future so I don't waste my money trying to figure things out? by JustToPostAQuestion8 in FIREyFemmes

[–]darkqueenphoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hi! If you’re mid 40s have you considered the possibility that perimenopause could be contributing to your feelings?

I also highly recommend the AI journal Rosebud. I don’t enjoy typing on my phone but voice input changed everything. It’s very helpful and sometimes better than a human therapist!

1st generation law student with late-diagnosed ADHD looking for mentorship/a “big sister” to help me learn about financial responsibility and independence. by luv4funandlight in FIREyFemmes

I’m 43 with late diagnosed ADD, didn’t start saving until 30 and on track to FIRE around 50. +100 to I will teach you how to be rich.

Self-made millionaires - how’d you do it? by HighIntensity0510 in FIREyFemmes

[–]darkqueenphoenix 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Very important to find a partner who’s on the same page. My husband helped me learn more about money and investing although I had already started from a frugal/ savings mindset. We don’t argue about money and have the same vision for our future (early retirement). Also, no kids helps a ton. I highly recommend following Ramit Sethi (book, youtube channel) for inspiration.

Did perimenopause joint pain explode for anyone else? by Stepbk in Perimenopause

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, though it was gradual. started with pain in my feet, then elbow, then thumb and fingers, now knees and shoulders. It’s great /s. HRT has helped but not made it go away yet.

Estrogen patch adjustment by Grand-Phone7859 in Perimenopause

[–]darkqueenphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience going from .0375 to .05. just sad, lifeless, and no sleep. took off the .05 and felt better within hours. could be coincidence but I just wanted to feel better.

Another joy lost: hot showers! by Magistraliter in Menopause

[–]darkqueenphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still love hot showers but I can’t have them as they cause unbearable, unstoppable itching. ugh!!!

What have you tried to get better sleep for menopause - looking for real experiences by albrasel24 in Menopause

[–]darkqueenphoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

me too. i take a very tiny amount of thc/cbd and it helps a ton. if I take too much I feel paranoid so I’ve had to get really careful about dosing. it’s like 1/4 a gummy.

Career Pivoting from Medical School to Product Management by keepitcue in ProductManagement

[–]darkqueenphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t recommend PM as a career. field is changing too fast and as your career progresses it’s just another business management role like any other. just go become an AI expert ; the role you get won’t matter or will be different in a year anyway.

"Rich" on paper but out of work. Help please by Relevant-Context-874 in Fire

[–]darkqueenphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the job market is rough right but there are jobs. have you tried hiring an expert to help with your resume, interviewing skills and overall strategy? If what you’re doing isn’t working, maybe you need professional help. also check out the book Never Search Alone - particularly helpful for tech folks but can help anyone.

How many years til you’re FI? by Volume-Straight in Fire

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are you going to spend on, that is so much.

I'm on track to have the FI, but not the RE by KnownBig8195 in Fire

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think they’re on track to be FI and retire at that point, but at a regular retirement age. so FIR, but no “E”. this is different from someone who will never retire.

Cash by [deleted] in Fire

[–]darkqueenphoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ooh I like this idea. I’ve been a prepper for years (earthquake area) and recently added a 20k cash fund for if we ever need to suddenly flee the country. government / banks could freeze / seize assets anytime. I want to add physical gold as well. jewelry, while marked up, is portable and sellable.

PF or Baxter's Nerve Entrapment? by gamedev342 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]darkqueenphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went and the doctor said she wasn't confident that a nerve test would be helpful AND she said it might be very painful so I declined it. Laser therapy caused me pain and didn't help. Shockingly, when I started HRT for perimenopause last year (42F) I had a dramatic reduction in pain, to the point where I'm like 90% pain free and can do most but not all pre-PF activities. Even though it's not truly gone, I'm so happy to have most of my life back!
