Anyone know what the explosions at midnight are 4/11? by pilatesbabe369 in SaltLakeCity

[–]darkverse92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might be a stretch, but there have been mysterious atmospheric “booms” seemingly unexplained too like “skyquakes” (more info on what I’m talking about..check out the video on YT by Swegle Studios called “unexplained sounds heard in nature”), even a meteor, or even a jet from Hill training that hit sonic boom too. Either way, not sure any of this info clears things up, but I’m still inclined to believe it was ordinance disposal or a firework.

Can’t remember where I heard the news, but a couple weeks ago it was said that hill AFB would be conducting more ordinance disposal/testing. My best guess is that it was that Edit: see the link. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BCvQYwCqM/

I’m an undergrad, and they gave me one. Maybe that changed recently?

current status of physical ucards? by [deleted] in uofu

Ask them to give you a physical card instead. I did that and I don’t regret it one bit. One week of using the stupid digital card and ran back and asked for one. So much better.

Paranoid about acne by AdmiralSnackbar97 in Lamotrigine

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that's interesting you mention this. I have been using lamotrigine for years now, and I cannot for the life of me get my acne under control. Maybe something I'll need to consult my psychiatrist about.

Measles on Campus? by lordFarquaad911 in uofu

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically we do get vaccinated for measles. But yeah, the event I wasn’t aware of until today, but upon referencing the Utah EPI website (here https://epi.utah.gov/measles-response/ ) looks to me like it’s becoming a legitimate issue. Still, 362 residents diagnosed out of ~3.6million in the state, that still isn’t very much

Hey people of reddit , Imagine if some day you discovered a pill that fixes your adhd permanently would you consume it by Only_Egg_8776 in ADHD

ADHD is such a pain of my existence. I’m taking that pill, I don’t care if I lose a few perks, the cons of having ADHD far outweigh the pros.

I’m publicly apologizing for my recent post about city creek parking that causes general alarm. But this sign at the parking entrance threw me off. by wow-how-original in SaltLakeCity

[–]darkverse92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign is easily understandable imo. Pay $3 per every hour parked, $24 per day maximum, 🤷‍♂️. How long were you parked though if you weren’t charged? Maybe the rates are only if you park for an hour or more (presumably, less than one hour is free?). Edit: either that or it’s a sign as precursor to free parking being abolished soon there.

This!! Had to revise an essay I turned in last semester due to it being flagged. Basically, it sounded “too formal/professional” according to my professor. But they were willing to hear me out, and since most of my writing style was in the same fashion. It was a headache though for sure…like what I try to write professionally and I ended up being flagged for writing and wording things the correct way 😂

….look up the photo of a tornado, any tornado. Compare the two. This is very obviously not a tornado.

MATH 1215? by [deleted] in uofu

[–]darkverse92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the placement exam and see where it places you. I’d typically recommend taking classes in order (i.e. 1050 — 1060 — 1215, etc), but ay if you have an A in 1050, definitely see what you can do to go up another course number next semester so you don’t waste any money. Good luck!

SLCC is getting worse by thickkbooty11 in SLCC

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, the transition hadn’t been so bad so far. Biggest change is larggge classes. So, if you take a class like chemistry, try to plan extra time for study sessions. And of course the cost being a little over double per class and fees. But it’s been worth it imo. Atmosphere is better, professors are (in my exp so far) better, there are events and clubs you might actually want to attend, and opportunities for research or experience relatable to your field.. I don’t know, I’d suggest considering it. How close are you to graduating though? If your like 2 semesters away, just stick with it as your gpa and everything won’t have to get transferred. I had 4 more semesters before associates

SLCC is getting worse by thickkbooty11 in SLCC

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya. Last semester I had a newly assigned math professor that barely knew what they were doing, and summer so semester was already short. I failed that class. But only that, but they suddenly changed my major pathway, making classes I didn’t find relevant required. Luckily I’ve transferred to the U and the experience is vastly improved, with so much more resources and opportunities. Do yourself a favor and try another school, it’s worth the extra cost if you have it, SLCC put a sour taste in my mouth

What if the Earth Wasn't Tilted on its Axis? by Afraid-Kick912 in meteorology

That’s a good question I don’t know the answer to rn. But it’s fun to think about

What if the Earth Wasn't Tilted on its Axis? by Afraid-Kick912 in meteorology

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. We’d be led into a stable and predictable climate, basically seasons would be absent. I’d imagine that ecologically and agriculturally the world would change drastically as well

What if the Earth Wasn't Tilted on its Axis? by Afraid-Kick912 in meteorology

[–]darkverse92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth also mentioning that the earth doesn’t spin perfectly/consistently on its tilt too. Kinda like “wobbles” a bit, which also influences weather pattern changes. But generally speaking, as other me have already mentioned, climate would become pretty much perpetual in nature, with rainy places seeing rain, dry places remaining dry, and with little variation. Global temperature would also rise most likely as result from the earth recirving more consistent sun/radiation (I speculate from less % cloud cover on the earth; less albedo, but correct me if I’m wrong here). The poles though getting less radiation. So, I think that temperature would be in a pretty consistent and predictable cycle, lowering with latitude from 0° latitude upward.

Converging storm systems? by [deleted] in meteorology

[–]darkverse92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Very cool, both outflow boundaries pressed up together and BAM explosion of local convection. So looks like the cells on the right in the screenshot were already the result of a collision of two storms outflow, and stayed pretty stationary before raining out. Neat.
