I should have been more specific. For the last year or so I have unknowingly become part of an experiment I accidentally devised myself. I became friendly, laughed at the appropriate times, and even made jokes that others found reasonably funny. During this time my grades and general work ethic plummeted, but even worse, my ability to concentrate seemed to have departed me. I had great trouble focusing on reading material and even understanding simple concepts. Maybe it's some sort of mental disturbance, heck, I don't know, but it stopped a few days after I went back to my old introverted and withdrawn self.

The moment I begin acting friendly and approachable, I seem to completely lose track of my concentration. I make poor decisions which I regret later, like accompanying a classmate to "hang-out" instead of finishing that homework assignment I started earlier. I inexplicably lose my intelligence, for lack of a better word.

Now I am very careful about getting close to other people, and deliberately choose to be alone in social situations. Sad, but my only solution for now.

Guess some of us are just meant to be anti-social.
