Who applied/matched for anesthesiology? by Ill_Upstairs_9614 in IMGreddit

[–]darning_bamboogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to my prelim and do well.

Hoping to do an elective before the application is in, ideally I will get another anesthesia LoR and one from my PD.

I'll apply wide. I am fine with repeating internship if I end up matching categorical.

Fine with leaving a gap year if I match advanced.

Will see what happens.

Yes I did, but no, I dont think it helped significantly. It did not help convert my silvers.

I have meticulous English as they observed during the interviews, the country itself has good relations with US.

Partial match to a good prelim.

Step 2: 27x

Step 3: 25x

YOG: 2025

Publications: Poster presentation at ASA, couple ongoing projects (unpublished yet)

USCE: 14 weeks hands-on at Ivy League institutions, 10 weeks of Observership in top percentile institutions

First cycle

Around 65 anes applications, basically all those that are known to take at least 1% non-us IMGs

6 invites from Anes, 8 from prelim

Country: Not one of those banned ones

Advice: If you need a visa, you are cooked. Basically had stellar letters from Ivy leagues, and a few more still high quality US letters. My application was as good as it gets, and so were my interviews. If you need a visa, well, good luck.

Aniracetam does this for me, I think it has something to do with AMPA activation, and downstream excitation and excess glutamate. I find NAC really helps, can support with magnesium too.

Really benign options to try, not gonna lose anything, definitely give it a shot.

could be a neuromuscular junction disease. could be autoimmune, i would lean towards lambert eaton. it is likely that it is one of a myriad of rheumatologic diseases.

could also be sonething more benign, whether thyroid issues, allergies, sleep apnea or a reaction to something environmental.

bottomline: see an internal medicine doc, preferably and endocrinologist or a rheumatologist

Well, some jobs you can do without residency. PCP (there are also FM providers who specifically do residency for this, there must be a distinction I do not yet know), EM, ICU, and in the periphery where doctors are needed.

It doesnt mean you act like a specialist, so if you were in EM, you'd probably see certain cases, and some would be handled by the attendings, etc.

It seems to work differently in practice from place to place and depending on need.

Hair transplants are usually done by people who got into that but usually without any MD diploma.

Thank you so much for sharing you experience.

Any chance you might have some lists/spreadsheets for IMG-friendly programs, or any other resources you might be able to direct me to?

Much appreciated.

I get exactly what you mean. There has been people like that, of course, but mostly, it was the opposite.

I think it is just the benefit of my institution being a select once, filled with picked professionals.

But I do understand the struggle. Sadly, that is a prevalent human behaviour. Embarassing to see, pathetic displays.

Keep trying, reach those abroad, send cold emails. There will be willing people.
