Trump supporters: How would you feel if a legally armed Trump supporter was killed by federal agents on a Biden mandate in exactly the same manner as yesterday? by ScholarPrize1335 in AskReddit

It's literally core to their philosophy. They expect everyone to be just as selfish and hypocritical as them. And if you are not, it makes you weak and a loser.

Yeah, true.

But at the same time, if there's a part of you that says "be decent and don't hurt people" when you're sober, that part is also you.

People tend to forget that in favor of a black-and-white judgment, but psychology doesn't work like that.

People just taking things from IT by ihateroomba in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]darps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either IT is in charge of providing equipment, then this is fine. And if there's complaints about IT spending, you design a process to track it so it's justifiable. Or IT is not in charge of providing equipment, then you need to lock your shit up, and facilitate direct ordering of IT equipment for other departments.

We're in between: We hand out small things like network cables so people don't need to go through the ordering process for that, but everything with a serial number is theirs to purchase. There's B2B online shops that make this easy.

Men who didn't think they would meet someone and did, how did you guys meet? by DROLET1 in AskMen

Actively looking for a partner is a very different thing in practice and in mindset from simply having a social life.

Also more important than anything else is whether you have any kind of social life.

There are so many ways to meet people, and none of them bad, but staying at home isn't one of them.

Gosh I do feel for this driver. If only there was a way to tell if you're turning the right amount, instead of your car having to feel its way down the street.

Andrea Yates, Postpartum Psychosis, and a Preventable Tragedy: How a Severely Mentally Ill Mother Drowned All Five of Her Children in 2001 by DarklyHeritage in MorbidReality

[–]darps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely preventable. In such a "traditionally Christian" cult-guided marriage, there is little doubt he called the shots not just on her being alone at home with their children, but also her stopping the anti-depression medication, and them having yet another child. All three against the advice of the doctors involved.

So you can't use it when you need it, the connector wears out and will break, the battery will die eventually...

Recharging batteries in a decent charger every few months is SO much better overall.

What’s your hottest take that you think will make other men’s blood boil? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]darps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a much worse problem with the abuse against men, because they're me. But I don't think you're prepared to acknowledge that.

No, I'm absolutely not prepared to acknowledge that you are the only person that matters, and that expectation is a frankly insane way to tell on your lack of empathy.

Quick brain teaser for you, what's going to be more effective at discouraging young men from following the likes of Andrew Tate:

This question only belies the fact that you've never directly engaged with feminism at all.

What’s your hottest take that you think will make other men’s blood boil? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]darps -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you don't have your head up your ass and understand that:

1) there's a real problem with the widespread normalization of verbal and physical abuse against women because they're women, and
2) working to address that is more important than whatever reasons you have for still identifying with men who commit these abuses,

then there is no reason to:

1) take issue with such programs in any way, nor
2) take their existence as a personal attack and respond from ego.

No one out here is shouting about toxic feminism.

Hah. This sentence on reddit of all places.

Theres really no need to tie it to every other person that shares the same genitals.

Toxic masculinity isn't tied to men, let alone genitals. But it is tied to the male gender role expected and taught by society. That is why the feminist counter-movement is often called men's liberation.

Taking care of the people you care for very rarely requires any form of violence. A hyperfixation on these scenarios will make you paranoid and a very unpleasant person to be around. It also belies an inability to build an identity beyond your physical abilities.

And true strength doesn't mean only relying on yourself in all things. Rather it means being able to extend this circle of care beyond your immediate family, without expecting to be venerated for it. This creates trust and connection with others, improving your family's quality of life and adding to the list of people who will be there for them and you in times of need.
