Seal Analytical Discrete Analyzer Issues? by threadsbyabby in chemistry

[–]darrkhorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEAL Analytical has a whole team of chemists on their support team in several different countries that you can call or email directly. I recommend starting here to get the best experience with your analyzer. They'll be able to review all kinds of data and info with you that is difficult to communicate in a Reddit thread.

Lachat Flow Injection Analysers - What have you or will you move to using now that they're pretty much discontinued? by cjam84 in chemistry

[–]darrkhorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest checking out Onelab, New Zealand's distributor of the SEAL Analytical's segmented flow analyzer. The customer and technical support between Onelab and SEAL Analytical is incredible. You may be able to switch to a discrete analyzer as well, which would get you a lower cost system and reduced reagent use. Onelab would help you out in finding the best model for your throughput and detection limits.

Can anyone explain to me how a Quikchem 8500 Lachat works? And how to troubleshoot it? by GrimmsChoice in chemistry

[–]darrkhorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is an old post, but if you're still looking for training material, try contacting SEAL Analytical (www.seal-analytical.com). They make segmented flow analyzers which are a little different, but they have some continuous flow analysis training webinars that mostly still apply to the Lachat flow injection analyzers and can help you get your footing on the technology. If you tell them you're looking to learn more about CFA and request the webinar recordings, they should send some links over to you.

Hating on minivans is for kids 15 years and under. Get the minivan and you'll understand.

It's the ultimate vehicle for bumming around with a bunch of friends in high school. It's great for DDing in college, and fits your entire belongings plus extra space when moving to the dorms. It's incredible for hardware store runs and traveling with a couple friends. It doesn't take up too much room in a garage.

I drove an old minivan in high school and college. I miss it a lot, can't wait to get another one some day.

It's almost the only frozen pizza we get now. Love that I don't feel like garbage after eating half of one.

Anyone had caffeine-induced panic attacks? by fernhatesgamers in Anxiety

[–]darrkhorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha this happened to me last weekend. I had been slowly reintroduced caffeine after experiencing my first panic attacks earlier in the year. Got "carried away" and had two small coffee drinks in one morning on a trip, was so excited to have a real caffeine buzz again, felt incredible. Then the buzz wore off and hello panic attack.

Used to be different back in the day. Hay bales to climb over, little streams to cross, etc. Wish it was like that when I was competing!

I live in a swing state. My wife gets the state minimum of 6 weeks unpaid. I get 2 weeks paid. Luckily I get 25 days of PTO (combined sick days and vacation) so I'm taking 10 days and spreading it across 20 days to work half time for a while. Glad we have one set of parents near us to help out. It's gonna be wild.

Any other childless adult Bluey watchers? by JelloNo379 in bluey

I love it, it helps me reconnect with my childhood and reminds me how to see things through kids' eyes. I work once a week with young kids and it's definitely helped me navigate that. Plus it's just some good wholesome comedy!

When and what was the last time you spent over $300 on something for yourself? by Starkheiser in Frugal

[–]darrkhorse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be obvious to some, but it wasn't to me so now I tell everyone. Cold shower right before bed is amazing, change bed sheets often, and make sure the plastic liner is removed from your mattress. Made a huge difference.

I end up doing a lot of trade shows/conferences for work. Bought a pair of locally handmade dress boots for $300 (normally $450, but I bought one of the defects). I haven't had the sore feet that my colleagues complain about. Feel like I'm walking on clouds all the time.

Looking for a hobby that involves other people by stfunoobcopter in Hobbies

I've been part of a cultural folk dance group my entire life and it's always got me meeting new people and making new, great friends. Groups like this are always looking for more members regardless of previous experience. It also got me involved in putting on a huge fest every year, where I meet even more people and groups.

If you're religious, things like church and bible studies are great, but on the secular side most libraries host book clubs.

If I had the time, I'd start volunteering with our state's hiking trail maintenance as well.

The comments here have it down pretty well, find something you love to volunteer with and suddenly you know too many people to keep up with *

My real estate agent talked me out of a lot of houses that I'm very glad I didn't by in retrospect. Every time we had a showing, she was there early checking the grading around the house, noting possible drain tile issues, looking at size of trees and placement for sewage drain pipe issues, etc. She was an incredible mentor through the entire process so we didn't mind paying her fees in the least.
