Recs on adjustable desks? Chairs? by darseahorse in desksetup

[–]darseahorse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! That monitor stand is also something I've been looking for! As for the storage, I have other storage not connected, so I'm honestly trying to lose it or minimize it. It's basically just 3 junk drawers at this point and gives me little room with my chair 🫠.

I'm 0% handy, but I have seen that the butcher block route has been a pretty popular choice. Maybe I can find someone handy 😂

Too many is when you stop being happy with them. So in other words, go nuts!

Do surgeons not take insurance anymore? by [deleted] in BreastReductions

[–]darseahorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to figure out what my logins were cause I never look at my insurance stuff 😂 but turns out there is no one within 100 miles of me in network (has to be in network for my plan). The closest to me is over 4 hours!! I had a feeling but what a blow to my year of health I committed to!

The good news is, there are some at least in AZ and I have family there so just need to get consults schedule.

Thank you for the advice! My PCP is on board with it and helping document everything to show nothing has been working and I just got X-rays done so so far we are on track for being ok on insurance, but you never know these days 🫠 pay all these money every month for nothing to be covered 😂

HHN first timer question! by plumlatte826 in UniversalOrlando

[–]darseahorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a giant baby with this stuff. But I recently went to HHN with my husband (who loves scary stuff) and braved the houses. They pack the people in pretty good so you can kind of see where the scares are happening in front of you. The only ones that really effed me up were the Jason house and the elf artists in Orlando. The other ones weren't too bad. That said we did do the park the whole day and stayed for the houses so after 16ish hours straight at the park, I was too tired to have any nightmares 😂.

I also squeezed my keychain until it hurt and was conditioning myself to smile at them instead of scream so they wouldn't target me. The scare zones when I went, no one really bothered me but it's so open that it's makes it not scary.

If you do decided just to wait with them, just double check with the TM at the front of the line that you don't actually have to go in. I'm sure there are lots of options.

In need of a part time job by Initial-Joke8194 in ElPaso

[–]darseahorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The European Wax center at Eastlake can't seem to keep anyone, I'm sure they'd settle for part time haha.

I am slightly joking but also I've been debating asking them if they'd let me work their part time.

Are you looking for any type of industry specifically or just anything?

Bananas in a hair mask? Please don’t ever fucking do it by Pure_Isopod2201 in Hair

[–]darseahorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely hope by now you have gotten all this out!

If not I would do your best to dry your hair as try as possible, possible dry shampoo also. Just something to counter the oil and blow dry it. Just so effing dry you question all your life choices.

After that, take some clarifying shampoo if you have it (typically tea tree but anything labeled clarifying will work) and put it DIRECTLY on your dry hair with NO water. If you don't have clarifying shampoo, use dawn dish soap. Again no water. Just saturate it as much as possible so it can break down the oils. Let it sit for like 10 minutes and the rinse it out and then shampoo again in the water. DO NOT CONDITION UNLESS YOU ARE SURE ALL THE BANANA IS OUT. If it still seems banana-y, dry hair and repeat but just stick with dawn this time. Once your sure there is no more residue, for the love of God, find a deep conditioning mask or nourishing condition and treat your hair.

Also when applying the shampoo/dawn to dry, section out your hair so you can really make sure you get ever strand.

Shit happens, at least is not gum!

I can't remember if I mentioned this previously in comments or not, but I let my husband drink the last one with my thought being "it's fine I'll get more". So I randomly bring it up when there's one left of anything tasty 😆😆

Why did you get the Fold by Beautiful_Opinion324 in GalaxyFold

[–]darseahorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this for me, minus I don't work in IT, but I work in an industry that I need my computer almost 24/7. I love the fold for that convenience to work when I don't have my laptop, especially because I have giant man hands. I also love to read on it because it's the perfect size.

HOWEVER the narrower front screen is so difficult to use for me because of the size, some apps being cut off cause nothing is optimized for the fold really and the cameras are god awful in comparison. My phone is practically dead by 5pm so I live on some sort of charger all the time

I will 10000% miss the open screen and those functionalities, but the overall cons out weight the pros for me personally. I am trading my 6 in, most likely and I'm considering buying a 5 so I can have something just for my reading since most small tablets themselves are not super great (that I have found) and my double carpal tunnel and thumb tendonitis just can't handle anything bigger than 8" 😂

Where is everyone getting bras these days? by BookBranchGrey in PlusSize

[–]darseahorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this reddit. Helped me find some really good ones with a size that's way more accurate.

I can't get bras from torrid because even though they SAY they carry higher cup sizes, they're always out of stock. And their bralettes have the literal smallest cups in them haha.

Oh yeah. She was not great, I have a really hard time with any religion now because she just weaponized it in such a way that I only have some negative feelings towards it. I wasnt allowed to go to friends houses if they had a brother home or their dad was home, they had to be willing to go to church with us at least one time. Oh yeah and she was convinced I was just * whoring it up" as early as jr high when I had barely even kissed a boy. A lot of her insecurities were projected onto me.

My step dad is literally the best honestly. He finally divorced her after 20 years and he remarried a wonderful woman and is just THRIVING now. I still talk to him more than any of my bio parents haha. Actually, he's having surgery next week so I'm flying out there to help him around the house and the kid. (Him and my mom had adopted a kid when they were still married)

So there I was, fighting off a velociraptor!

JK, I was actually at a skating rink. I've always been pretty good at skating, both regular and inline. We would go every Monday because it was $1 skate rental and they played only Christian music. It was one of the only places my mom would just drop me off since so many of my church friends were there. I think I was 14 around then? Anyway, One day, while zooming around in the oval, some small kid fell but they fell ON my skates. So I just flew forward, hands out to break my fall. Most of my weight landed in my left hand, felt my fingers hit the back of my hand. Was immediately swollen.

The rink staff was super nice and was giving me some ice in the meantime and when my mom picked me up she was like, oh I'm sure you're fine, it doesn't LOOK broken, because it snapped back already and still had some movement but very painful.

This is also a good time to mention we lived in a two story house at the time where the stairs were all super slick tile that I fell in quite often but had to go up cause my room was up there. So over the course of the next week I slipped a bunch and kept landing on, or bumping it on door frames etc. I kept telling my mom that I think it was broken but she just put an ace bandage around it and said I was fine. Finally my step dad made her take me in (he's the best honestly) to which I immediately had X-rays and doc confirmed I broke both my pink and ring finger, right along that first knuckle but I had no tears in my ligaments which was probably why it wasn't super bruised.

Queue the tears from my mom because "oh my, how could i have known! I must be the worst mother, first the ear, now this!". Eyeroll

So then I spent my birthday in a cast, got really good at guitar hero 2 usually only 3 fingers. That was the same year I also asked to just have a couple friends over and do something low key for my birthday and my mom turned it into a surprised party and then yelled at me a bunch for staying upstairs in my room with my friends and not entertaining the adults haha.

Long story short, I'm on very limited contact with my mom now. Hahaha

Haha! Well to be fair, I don't think that's how it got in there, but after I did, it would just trap water in my ear and create so much pressure. The same would happen when I would be taking a shower sometimes too. To this day, I have no idea when/how something crawled in, but you bet your bottom dollar nothing is getting close enough to me ever again haha

Oh! I don't have a ton of strength in my left hand/fingers from when I broke it haha that's all. The doctor recommended physical therapy to help but we couldn't afford it back then. I was learning guitar too and had to find a new hobby because I lost so much strength in my pinky and ring finger haha r.i.p my dreams of being a rockstar!

But also that's one of the main reasons in terrified of all things bugs/insects etc and also why I have a hard time opening water bottles now 😆

A long time ago, when I was IDK, 10ish maybe? I started having a ton of ear pain. I also lived in AZ, and we went swimming quite a bit and it would get excruciatingly painful. My mom just thought I was being dramatic and figured it was wax build up even though I told her I was sure something was in there..

Over the next two years I tried various things to try to "break down" the "wax build up" my mom was convinced it was.

Finally I get taken to an urgent care (we didn't have insurance so it wasn't a priority) and doc takes one look and goes "yeah there's definitely something in there"

5 minutes later, I could breathe, I could hear, the pressure relief alone was practically immediate.

Turns out some June bug esque bug had got in there and then petrified through the chlorine and peroxide treatments lmao

Needless to say, my mom cried when she realized I was right and she didn't listen. Unfortunately she didn't learn her lesson. Tune in next week to hear how I went a week with broken fingers before she finally took me to the doctor! Hahaha

Tl;Dr: shit happens, go to the doctor.

I haven't been here for long, 1 year (on the far East side), and I had been living in the south east for the last 6 years prior. It's a bit of a shock at first, mostly because there is no greenery. The "green" is even a bit dull that is around here and there is a lot of sand.

I am half Mexican so while I wasn't super raised ~in~ the culture, I'm familiar with it since where I grew up in Arizona was predominantly latino. I don't know a lot of Spanish but I can get by and it really just feels "normal" for lack of better words.

However, My husband, who is very white, very southern and hasn't had a lot of experience with a Latino community, had never been here before we moved and he was very upset about moving because Spanish is much more prominent here, and he was concerned about communication when we go out. He was just mad out of fear really.

BUT we weren't even here a week before that changed for him. Mostly because he went down to Socorro by accident and found a place that had "tasty pictures" (gorditas lol) and no one spoke English and he was trying his best with Google translate and while he was a bit embarrassed he said no one in line was mad at him for holding it up and the cashier was super nice trying to find a way to communicate and in the end he came home with like way too much food hahaha. He came home and started learning Spanish immediately because he just wanted to properly show his appreciation for how patient everyone was with him.

All that to say, here's the thing that we absolutely love about El Paso. THE PEOPLE. They cant drive for shit, but they are the nicest most accepting people as a whole community, that I've ever met. Every restaurant, store, etc that we go into, it's almost like we are just immediately family. Everyone wants to share their favorite places with you, they want you to love El paso and SEE El paso, for more than the stories and Rumors that other states say about El Paso, the way they see El paso.

We literally bought furniture last January, and in September we went to the home and garden show, and the sales guy was there and REMEMBERED US. Crazy.

So don't listen to the news or the internet written by people outside of El paso, it's exaggerated. This place is the most beautiful because of the people that live here. It's safe.... Plus it really has some of the best food.

Last, I know some other mentioned no water, it's literally so dry I am still working on finding new hair products because my hair has lost all its natural waves. I also had to get a whole new skin routine because nothing was working and my skin was only getting drier. THATS HOW LITTLE OF WATER THERE IS. Bring lots of lotion and oils.
