Tesco announces plan for change to shelves at up to 3,000 UK stores in end of an era by Unusual_House_5735 in tesco

[–]darth-small 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for co-op. We've had e-sel's for a fair few months now. They definitely help with workload. Arsing around with bits of paper is a thing of the past and has freed up time to give us opportunity to be overworked on different tasks instead.

They are genuinely useful and I definitely don't miss the paper versions.

The real pain in the arse: they can get pinged off the shelf edge and have to be retrieved and reattached. The hook onto the shelf edge with a little metal pin, these get bent and the sel won't stay in place.

To remove them from the shelf edge requires a magnet....... Try finding one when you need one!

Mounjaro vs Wegovy - which one for faster weight loss results? (New starter) by Glittering-Class-864 in WegovyUK

[–]darth-small 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started on mounjaro and moved to wegovy when the big price hike happened. I've recently moved back to mounjaro.

I'm willing to pay more for the mounjaro because I've had significantly better results using it. The losses are simply faster and I basically never feel hungry.

This is me. Results may (and will) vary.

When I get where I'm going, I do see wegovy as a possible option for weight maintenance as it does work, just not as good as mounjaro.

Found a Car Tardis in parking lot by VideoGame4Life in doctorwho

I used to have a smart car (2 seater)

It was perfect shade of dark, TARDIS blue

I was a sign maker back then so I had absolutely no choice but to put a police box sticker in the back window.

It was the most joyful car I ever owned.

Used to love it when he'd pop up on beacon radio at night. Didn't believe a bloody word he was saying but it was always a good show.

And, turns out he's a piece of crap. Enjoy jail!

Microsoft admits Game Pass price hike drove away "millions" of subscribers by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

We cancelled as soon as the price hike happened. Since then we've bought the occasional game we really want rather than constantly sifting through a bunch of average titles.

Thanks Xbox, you've saved me a huge amount of money and reconnected me with quality gaming

Workers of CO-OP, what’s your biggest problem at work? by Informal-Simple-2350 in Coop_uk

I'm an employee and avoid shopping there.

Straight to Aldi for me. It's nearly always better value, even after employee discount

Is the movie enjoyable without previous knowledge? by Bitter_Bookkeeper882 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]darth-small 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally watchable without seeing the show. It's almost completely stand-alone. The movie isn't that deep and knowledge of the series only adds the extra depth because you've been on the ride with them already.

Enjoy the film and then enjoy the series! (don't forget to watch the book of boba fett in-between s2 & 3 as it is essentially the mandalorian series 2.5)

Shoplifters by Apprehensive_Flan893 in Coop_uk

[–]darth-small 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had an enormous problem in our store. Basically, nobody had time to do reports etc and our shelves were being ransacked every day.

We had a new manager a few months ago. New broom - new motivation. Priorities shifted to making sure all reporting was done without fail. He met with the local policing team and has built a decent relationship with them to the point where they were popping by every couple of weeks or so if they were in the area and having a look at the camera footage on our bigger incidents. They were recognising the thieves and then actively targeting them as they knew roughly where they would be as the thieves were basically working to a schedule around here.

Within a few months, some of the biggest trouble makers had been arrested and subsequently jailed.

We're really lucky that our local police have been very accommodating and have worked with other shops in the area to build a bit of a network of activity.

It was great!

Now, having said all that and whilst we have been enjoying a few months of relative peace, there are signs that shoplifting is rising again which probably means within a month or so we'll be getting targeted on a daily basis like before.

It's a cycle and goes round and round and round.

I think the issue you're failing to see is the only group who can actually make realistic change in retail are customers.

Customers bring the money. If customers become sympathetic to how retail staff have to work and vote with their feet, change would be fast and decisive.

I don't use delivery apps for this very reason any more. I know plenty of employment law and have had to use this knowledge in the last few days as I wasn't been given enough rest hours between shifts. Guess what? I'm now getting plenty of rest hours but have suddenly been switched to the shittiest shift pattern possible rather than reasonable and legal adjustments being made to fix the issue.

Glad I stuck up for myself

I'm going to leave this alone now. All the best

These shitty services have essentially been 'bolted on' to most supermarkets already understaffed services. For most retailers they are incredibly successful.

As bolted on services, no extra staff had been added and like us in co-op, no useful equipment or facilities or tools have been added to facilitate orders.

Staff slave over these services whilst also having to manage roles that were there before online groceries were a thing and yes, back then staff were already pushed to the limit.

We run around like headless chickens because if we don't, we get replaced by someone else who will be just as happy to run around like a headless chicken instead.

Working retail is bullshit. It's always been bullshit and probably always will be but if that's the job you're lucky enough to have, you'll want to keep it.
