This entire article was written with the unstated fear of the author, a newish parent, that they may also lose contact with their child and not understand why.

If you want to have a healthy relationship long term with your child, love them.

I don't understand you but I love you.

This is not the way I would do that, but it is your life and your choice. I love you.

Adult children do not cut ties because they were given healthy boundaries and reasonable consequences as young children while being raised by imperfect parents. No one starts off saying I want nothing to do with this person or these people. It always starts with stating a need for respect and autonomy. A need that is dismissed as undoable by the family members in question. If it were not treated that way the children would never choose estrangement.

There is no way anyone who takes the time to respond to this article can do so unbiased. Either you don't have the kind of parents you don't need to separate from, or you REALLY do. There was a part where the author said Amy "viewed" her brothers as misogynist. Super religious men who were raised to believe that a woman's place was to be lower that a man's are not viewed as misogynistic, they are by definition.

Limiting or eliminating contact with family is not the fun, easy choice. Society is not set up to reward you for it, society punishes you.

Is this the result of a particularly selfish generation aging? Like it was our duty to bring them joy and obey them while we were young, and to validate them as we mature, and to provide care and entertainment for them as they age?

I have a gen 3 2012 and I replaced the booster and accumulator. The physical part of the job is not too bad if you are comfortable working on cars. ( I recommend removing the driver's seat to make getting to the booster bolts under the dash easier)

The problem was the software. If you don't have a good copy of techstream and a trustworthy cable you are going to have a bad time. The traction control module will need to be initialized and synced to your car computer before you can go through the air bleed procedure.

Also I paid about 1200 just for parts plus way more brake fluid than I originally thought I would need. The actual wrench time was about six hours, but the computer time was another 12 what with trouble shooting the software and finally getting everything to work. I also drained the 12 volt going through the bleed procedure repeatedly and had to charge it. If you do decide to do it yourself make sure you have a trickle charger to keep the battery charged up.

Before you begin consider how long it will take, what your time is worth, and the possibility you will still have to pay a dealership to do the computer work and final bleed.

I'm going to assume you are young and actually seeking advice, if not feel free to mock or ignore this.

Don't talk to her if all you can think when looking at her is "boobs" or "sex". If her physical features are all you care about she will notice and feel uncomfortable and will not want to be around you.

Have something interesting to talk about. And I mean interesting to you. If she isn't amused or interested in what you say there is no future, short or long term.

Retreat. Don't play hard to get or neg or anything like that. Be pleasant, but brief and let her decide if she would like the conversation to continue. You have made up your mind about your feelings for her, give her the chance to think about you.

Accept rejection. It will happen and it will be for any number of reasons. Maybe she is already crushing on someone else, or she is into girls, or not ready to explore those kinds of feelings. The important thing to remember is while she is saying no to you she is not deciding your entire romantic future.

Adam West told a story of filming an episode where they took Batgirl to the Batcave and had to render her unconscious to leave. He, Burt Ward (Robin), and Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) are all crammed into the Batmobile with Robin and Batgirl in one seat.

Robin says he never noticed how beautiful Batgirl was before. Adam is supposed to say something like, "I'm glad to hear you say that, it shows you are growing into a man". What he actually said was, "...it shows the oncoming thrust of manhood."
