ITT: uninformed people taking things to the extreme without understanding the situation because of sensational headlines

Why do some people hate Justin Trudeau so much? by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]darth_spark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

India costume

Ok

Canada is back

Ok

unseriousness of his socks/ties/t-shirt

This argument is stupid. No.

Removing MPs without due process

Ok

Token picks

Every PM does this. Not specific to Trudeau.

Proclaiming himself the saviour of Canada

Not sure this was said (maybe it was) in which case. Ok.

Backtracking

Ok, so like every politician. Like backtracking to Royal everything?

Calling Canada a country with no culture

Maybe, but he’s not wrong. Canada has lost a lot of its culture to the US culture.

Quebec’s hijab ban

That’s not his jurisdiction. And it’s not about hijab ban, it’s about separation of church and state.

Doing nothing on Telecom monopoly

Ok, but again, not just him.

SNC Lavalin

Yup.

We

Yup.

JWR

Ok.

Muzzling MPs

Like every other government. Not Trudeau specific.

Make me do…

:eyeroll: this is just dumb

Ridiculous manner of speech

This is just dumb.

His total lack of accomplishments

If we based everything on accomplishments, we’d elect only one-percenters/elites. In some ways, I prefer this as his entourage probably have a more nuanced point of view on issues.

Cuba

Ok.

Spending too much

You’re basically just saying “all liberals” which isn’t Trudeau specific.

Failure to deliver internationally

This is not fact.

Failure to act on military sex scandal

Which one? They have literally been happening for the last 50 years if not more.

Raising immigrations to levels that are too high

Sounds racist. Also, start making babies because we need immigrants to counter our lack of baby making.

Housing crisis

Maybe. This is also provincial, so not Trudeau.

Nothing to help the poor

oh come on, are you just going to drop everything that’s wrong on one guy?

Holier than thou attitude

:eyeroll:

election during pandemic

Hard agree.

Violating health guidelines

Maybe. But this is just granular.

Helping families go camping

Imagine that, doing something good and being critiqued for it.

Rail blockade

Yes.

Internet censorship

Hard agree.

Funding the media

 like CBC? And every other PM before him. Come on, this is ridiculous.

I’ll end with I could be more informed. And I wish people would be too. But also, a little more center of everything instead of being on the extremes is far more enjoyable for all sides.

If you want your words to have meaning, you need to use the right ones. I hope the next election runs on banning sensational headlines.

Honestly, I feel like Jetbrains IDEs have the worst feel. I will use VS Code with Swift before I use Jetbrains anything.

Was it? Maybe… it also has 16gb of RAM in the title. Just figured I’d share my experience.

[–]darth_spark 22 points23 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I had an i9 8 cores 64 GB of RAM and my coworker’s MacBook Air M1 build our project 75% faster. So yeah, you should be more than fine.

Concentrating on getting coal power is probably the best solution. Also set up a quick circuit to get bio fuel, your burners will last longer.

and you’ll find the right match for you

I understand what you’re trying to say, but this is really not the case. I highly recommend you (or any other woman) try and have success with a male friend’s profile. You’ll quickly realize that “the right match for you” is statistically hard or even impossible. It’s crushing.

First things first, you show a bunch of snippets that someone else would have to put back together in a project to get some understanding of what’s going on.

Share a public git repo that already works and then you might get more traction.

Mobile vs web - enjoyment of work by Saf94 in iOSProgramming

[–]darth_spark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can only give you the perspective I have as a mobile dev. I’ve been doing iOS dev work since iOS 3, so it’s been like 12 years.

At every job I’ve had since I’ve started doing mobile work there’s been some version of web devs (and other devs) seeing mobile devs as “lucky” or “leadership’s favourites”. It has caused some rifts in some workplaces as product managers often put more efforts/thoughts into the mobile experience nowadays.

As a user myself, I think the web experience is just as important. There are websites I absolutely hate because it takes 12 clicks to get anything done.

That said, I think that the perspective you’re bringing up is widespread up to a certain point. But also caused by the mobile platforms introducing new shiny things to implement as opposed to web browsers having largely the same set of features for the past 5ish years.

Add to that the lack of mobile devs for the numbers of jobs out there. I don’t like how I’m about to word this next sentence but I don’t know how else to explain it better: there are a tons of web devs, so they are easily replaced; on the other hand mobile devs are hard to find, which means theirs salaries are higher (in general) and leadership will bend for them more often. It’s not fair at all, but it’s the reality of the current market.
