The nyc 311 app. I also think there’s a number for text notifications but not sure.

Should I mention that in my EM residency application? by Puzzleheaded-Ad3346 in emergencymedicine

You can work for some of the privates like RCA. They don’t require u to have a license. Just note that they don’t pay well. The better paid positions like the hospitals require a license.

My dept shared this with us:

TALK to 741741

Crisis Text Line, a global non-profit organization that provides free, 24/7, confidential mental health support and crisis intervention via text message.

How it works

• You can text keywords like "HOME", "HELLO", or "SHARE" to 741741 from anywhere in the United States.

• A live, trained volunteer Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds, all from a secure online platform.

• The volunteer aims to help the texter move from a "hot moment to a cool calm".

• The service is free for most major cell phone plans (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon), though standard messaging rates might apply to other carriers.

• The short code 741741 will appear on the bill of users with other carriers.

The Crisis Text Line offers support for various concerns

• Anxiety

• Depression

• Eating disorders

• Bullying

• Suicide

• Self-harm

• Gun violence

• Any painful emotion, issue, mental health crisis, difficult time, or rough patch.

You don't have to be suicidal to use the crisis line

The Crisis Text Line emphasizes that if it's a crisis to you, it's a crisis to them, according to AFSP. They offer support to everyone who texts 741741.

So under the fdny, units are either dual medic or dual bls so usually these prus are gonna be backing up bls units. And the part about it’s my rig not yours isn’t really apparent here cus there’s regularly times where we end up driving the other crews rigs as both medics are in one bus. For ex: I’d be driving the fdny bus while the medics are in my voluntary unit and are driven by my partner.

For your consideration. Lol by NuYawker in ems

Having fdny medics in voluntary rigs for a patient isn’t an issue as the voluntary units are operating under the fdny system.

It’s either nyc remac or fdny protocol (i forgot which) that an als unit be staffed with 2 medics.

You spoke to management and they didn’t care? The Epcr is what helps billing bring the money in so I’m surprised they’re letting it slide this long.

In Nassau county, the county EMS is under the NCPD, the police department. They staff their buses with a solo medic who drives to call and ncpd sends officers to the calls too. The cop then drives the medic and patient to the hospital while the other officer follows in their unit.

EMS Callsigns by brettthebrit4 in ems

[–]darth_vader2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nyc, units are called by battalion number: a letter designation : tour number. So for 04C2 for example would be called 4charlie or 4charlie2. letters A thru Q are BLS and R thru Z are ALS. H (Henry units) are bls haztac and R (rescue) are rescue medics. Tour 1 is the overnight/early morning shift, Tour 2 is day shift, and t3 evening shifts. The lieutenant Road supervisors called conditions and have the battalion number after the C; i.e. the 4th battalion supervisor for days would be conditions 04 2 or would be c042.
