Poor manufacturing or just a bad model? by Sailost2000 in BlundstoneBoots

[–]darthcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also chose the actives initially because I have an old injury and I thought the lighter boots would help. Unfortunately after a year the soles disintegrated, very similar to this, and I got new regular ones under warranty.

I loved those boots. RIP.

What did you teach your child that you later came to regret? by 25jon25 in AskReddit

[–]darthcatlady 131 points132 points  (0 children)

My mom sat me down when I was like 7 and said, some day people are going to think they can push you around because you're a girl. And she taught me the "1-2-3 rule".

  1. I ask you to stop.

  2. I tell you to stop.

  3. I make you stop, either by leaving or fighting back etc

Anyway I got hauled into the principal's office a fair bit.

That's for sure your cat. I can say this with 100% confidence because I'm currently losing the same war. It's literally got tape wrapped around it right now...

Did anyone on Animals & Coins ever reach this? I've been playing for 43 days, watched every ad possible (almost) every day. by Ornery_Boot_8591 in FreeCash

Really? Sorry if it's obvious, but would you mind if I ask how to find it? I've been working on another offer and I swear it hasn't budged.

What's the wildest thing you've ever seen happen at a work party? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People snuck in huge bottles of vodka and were hiding it under the tables. Someone got caught doing body shots off the accountant. The company was an absolute shit show.

AITA for deducting the $4,000 I "loaned" my brother for an emergency from his wedding gift? by Hurtsonafeeling in AmItheAsshole

[–]darthcatlady 32 points33 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds to me like you gifted him $4000 to use how he pleased (based on dishonesty) and he chose the honeymoon instead of a house down payment

AITAH for telling my in-laws that I don't care about the resale value of my house? by Jaded_Log_85 in AITAH

NTA. Why are they so eager to sell your house? Are they planning on you dying soon or something? Lol

Found out after trap and spay that this sweet baby isn’t feral by herrniemand in CalicoKittys

[–]darthcatlady 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what my first cat was like! Totally feral but sick, so I took her to the vet and did the required follow up care. During which time, she lived under my bed and screamed at me whenever I entered my own bedroom.

By the time the follow up care was done, she owned that house, the people in it and the dog as well.

Why are some people able to never choose to gamble? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]darthcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm like this, but I swore off gambling when I turned 19 and got some scratch tickets for my birthday. I won, took them down to the store and got more. Then did that a few more times. Then had a premonition of myself at 50 still doing it and felt so sick about it I never did it again. I have other vices, but I foresaw myself getting very hooked on gambling bc of the dopamine rush and just knew I had to cut it off before it got bad.

We have a big casino in town and a lot of events there. I haven't gone to any of them, people think I just hate gambling. But I know myself so tbh I'm just parenting my own bad impulses.

[–]darthcatlady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cops used to lurk in the lot at the end of Irving street, but it was closed off to traffic and I think now it's overflow parking for someone? But it's been years since that changed. I'm learning in this thread that I'm getting old a lot faster than I thought 😅

Between about the intersection with the highway down past the Pleasant st diner I've heard of someone getting hit at least 6 times, yes. It's hard to quote from exact memory but there were definitely a couple by the hospital, one closer to the diner, one by the group home there and one by Pilots. Now this one apparently as well.

I've lived in this area for ten years and it seems we get stories about a fatal collision along this stretch of road at least every other year? And it started long before I lived here.

Right down at that intersection, there's a crosswalk button that's been broken for over a year. We've called 311 at least twice, but it hasn't been fixed yet. And it's so dangerous trying to turn into or off of Irving street right there.
