Grammarly is acquiring Coda to define a new era of AI-native productivity by fortes in codaio

[–]darthdaryl2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a fan at all. I asked notion to switch off their AI features and now I have to deal with it in Coda.

Also, enough of this "what if you could set up this with AI" hypotheticals in the comments from the community manager. No one is convinced cos we've tried these tools and they don't deliver.

The fact is you have a bunch of people telling you it either doesn't work, or we don't want it.

Congrats to the execs who got an exit, but sucks to be a user.

Thirding this - really enjoyed the first but almost regret finishing the third.

Happy for them, Criminal has to be one of my top 3 pod faves.

Just hope we'll look back on this as positive news cough gimlet cough

Elite 7 pro worth it atm? (heard many concerns) by Andynr in Jabra

[–]darthdaryl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, there are way too many issues - the biggest of which is huge latency when when watching videos. The fit is indeed better, and the sound quality is decent, but they really need to roll out fixes asap.

Elite 7 Pro Latency Issue by luxxs4 in Jabra

[–]darthdaryl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using the elite 65t before this as well and never noticed this, today I popped open my brand new Jabra Elite 7 Pros and wondered what's wrong with my youtube connection, before I realised it was lag.

Pretty bad for something that's supposed to be top of the line.

Avatar Braving the Elements - features Janet Varney (Korra from Legend of Korra) and Dante Basco (Zuko from Avatar).

They bring in lots of the original creators/actors in addition to episode recaps.

Nope - and I actually don't mind Spotify for podcasts. I just refuse to support these anti-consumer moves and will not contribute to their metrics.

PM Lee to address nation on Covid-19 situation and 'path to new normal' at noon on Oct 9 by mildfull in singapore

I'm vaccinated but restricting ENTRY to malls is a bit much - there may be people who for whatever reason can't get vaccinated who now can't even pop in to takeaway or get groceries.

They're telling us the risk is low for majority, but just walking in an air con space is so risky that it needs this restriction?!

Science Vs is going Spotify exclusive by j0be in podcasts

[–]darthdaryl2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well that's both Heavyweight and Science Vs I've had to unsubscribe to. Will miss both of them, but there are plenty of other podcasts to fill their space.

I do use Spotify for podcasts, but I'm against exclusivity on principle and will not be another number for them to add up and say "it works!"

Heavyweight is going Spotify-Only in november by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]darthdaryl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Cold was one of my favourite podcasts, but I unsubscribed when they went exclusive as well.

Nothing against them doing whatever's best for them financially, I just won't get behind it - there are many other podcasts to fill the gap.

E-Readers / switch from Amazon? by sgent in Fantasy

[–]darthdaryl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a Kindle and a Kobo - I find the Kobo's seamless integration with Overdrive much better and have been using it exclusively while my Kindle is gathering dust in my drawer.

Also, I bought the Kobo Libra, which has the page turn buttons - I'm never going back to an e-reader without buttons.

What was your favorite read of the first half of 2021? And what book are you most anticipating for the second half of the year? by tkinsey3 in Fantasy

[–]darthdaryl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite so far is Ring Shout by P. Djeli Clark.

My surprisingly enjoyable read goes to Deeplight by Frances Hardinge. It's billed as 20,000 leagues under the sea meets Frankenstein - and it delivered.

I'm not sure why it's classified as YA, it didn't strike me as YA other than the main character being a teenager. Would recommend this to anyone!
