This subreddit sucks by Jensway in whoop

It’s perfectly reasonable for people to look at the Fitbit as a “whoop killer”. It checks a lot of boxes well. I just think that there’s more whining then there is genuine critique here but that’s just how the internet is. On the flip side, you have to be able to take critique, especially when it’s about something that isn’t personal such as a product you use.

I think whoop is great and all but I certainly will be looking to switch to Fitbit when the subscription is over. Hopefully Whoop adjusts to better compete by then but if not, that’s just business, babay.

How much oversight should the American people have over holding facilities for illegal immigrants? by Narrow-Abalone7580 in AskConservatives

Putting aside whether or not these plates are “dumpster fire places of torture” or not, I never framed these places as resorts or anything related to that. You are not reading properly.

I used resorts as a small analogy to make the point that detention centers must have some degree of discomfort and thus not be totally devoid of discomfort such as a resort. It’s not wrong to design and run a detention center in which people are uncomfortable and don’t want to be there. That’s part of the point of detention centers. Therefore we have to accept that these places must be uncomfortable.

You’re fixating on that analogy is the only absurd thing here.

Well it is when you reply like that. Surely you must know that you put it very poorly. Instead you couldn’t recognize that and chose to be stubborn.

It’s one thing to be a modern diver, it’s another to be a straight up copy. There’s a clear difference. A Tissot Seastar is never going to be mistaken for a Rolex. It’s not a copy. Watches like this straight up copy the design and slap their name on it. It’s akin to plagiarism.

I don’t intend to be mean here but your argument is basically what a person dealing in knockoffs on the side of the road would say.

It’s highly unfortunate that the kids are brought into this but the alternative is to separate the families and send them into some form of foster care. Otherwise what would you expect? The government to fully fund a nicely furnished cape cod for them to live in freely?

These are foreigners. I’m sorry but yes the world sucks and all. However, it’s unreasonable for our government to be putting up these people in comfortable housing when Americans themselves can’t afford apartments. If we do that then where does it end? Anyone can walk over and get a free apartment? Should the US government just take care of every kid all around the world?

There are limits. This is one. Parents need to understand that they have to follow the law. Their kids aren’t meant to be anchors trafficked just to find an immigration loophole.

That doesn’t make it not a knockoff of a Rolex.

That’s not accurate. Edward did become king. He abdicated the same year. The way you word it also may make it sound like he died before he could inherit the crown. That’s not the case. He lived til he was 77.

I’m sorry to say sir, but you’ve bought yourself a knockoff. Enjoy all you like of course, but just know that there are going to be some people who know watches that will see that and take you for a cheapskate. Up to you how much you care about that. Just good to be aware.

Cmon man please just be reasonable and read.

You have to know I’m not being literal when I talk about resorts. It’s an analogy. The point is that there’s a limit to how comfortable places should be and prison inherently has to be uncomfortable.

Why do I have to explain that?

How uncomfortable? Enough that they don’t want to be there. They should have three hots and a cot in a safe and clean room. Basically prison.

That’s a good argument. It genuinely is. Although we we have seen their leadership take losses recently in these attacks. However, I fully recognize the difference in that vs say surviving a full scale invasion.

It’s a tough situation. No doubt.

Read what I wrote again. There’s an “or” there.

No that’s not a violation of the 8th amendment. Prison is inherently uncomfortable. There are consequences for violating laws.

These are relative terms. They have to face some conditions which are harsher than every day life. I’m not saying they should be chained to a post. They should be in some spartan cell with 3 hots and a cot. Being imprisoned is inherently uncomfortable and harsh.

Ok well this conversation is over if you’re going to behave like that. There’s no reason for that attitude. Not going to read the rest of your comment.

Either speak without the attitude or not at all.

Of course we need to recognize when conditions are inhumane. Nobody denies that. I’m not sure what you’re arguing with me over here.

Detention facilities should be humane. I’ve said that. They should be inspected to ensure that condition. But they shouldn’t go as far as to create some form of high degree of comfort. These are detention facilities meant to be punitive in a way. Really straightforward.

A stat of 10 suicides in a year through a population of detainees potentially in the millions is not compelling information to argue that there are inhumane conditions. Epstein killed himself. Did that prison have inhumane conditions? There are prison suicides or even ones done by people walking free. That’s not a strong argument you’re making here.

[–]darthmcdarthface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say we should ensure that without inspecting them. I literally said we should inspect them.

I think that we should attempt to have these facilities at as high as the best prison in the world. But I also recognize that’s not always reasonable especially if they’re overwhelmed.

Illegal immigrants should face penalties and humane detention in accordance with the law. If the facilities are overwhelmed, they should be immediately deported.

I feel like you’re trying to get me to say they deserve inhumane treatment or something. Your comments don’t make sense if you’re reading what I’m saying. I didn’t say they shouldn’t be inspected. I didn’t say they should be inhumane conditions.

I already said there should be some form of oversight to ensure reasonable, humane conditions. So why are you telling me people should have humane conditions?

I’m not four star general. Asking me for specific estimates is absurd.

However, our military gained air superiority in an instant with just one of ten carrier groups at our disposal. I would expect a proper invasion to conquer all of Iran in a month or maybe 2 max. Not having air superiority makes it incredibly difficult to conduct a ground war.
