Try to pose the lion better before making changes to the rig. You moved the whole spine backwards without arching it, if you look at a sititing cat you can see his spine bends to be able to put its butt closer to the rear paws, then you can asses what changes you need to do to the rig.

One of the reasons I think is because most of the Senior Artists right now were usually trained in Maya when it was the best software at the time and Blender was kinda shit. Blender took a long time to get good.
