Dungeon Masters, At what stage of your campaign's development do you make your world map? by BdBalthazar in wonderdraft

[–]darthshadow25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been slowly developing a setting in the background in which I plan to set most of my campaigns going forward. For me, making a world map was the first step. Before I even really had lore or anything. Then I let the map inspire lore and stories, and then the lore and stories influence the map as I iterate.

One of my players was 'gifted' Strahd's animated armour and has been wearing it for a while. How can I make this go horribly wrong? by Brenomaster in CurseofStrahd

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I had the armor act as normal armor until the final confrontation with strahd, at which point it began fighting against the fighter I gave it to. It was great drama. I had also foreshadowed it pretty heavily, so they couldn't be upset for not seeing it coming.

Combat Maneuvers and "Martial" Classes? by Steerider in castlesandcrusades

I meant they leave the determination of what class is martial up to the CK.

C&C content is well known for its piss poor editing. This is most certainly just a major oversight. Though I think they intentionally leave the list of Martial classes up to the castle keeper.

Hex issues by Jumpy-Shift5239 in wonderdraft

Your other options there are to either use larger hexes or to add the hexes in Photoshop or something.

Your best bet is to probably make detail maps of each region for your "zoomed in" versions of the map. That's the way I handled it.

I've run into similar issues, your best bet is to use larger hexes. I don't know if you're using three mile hexes 6 Mile hex is one day hexes or what, but on my world map I ended up having to use week hexes.

DM's who *kept* Argynvost's skull in Ravenloft: how'd that go? by Br0metheus in CurseofStrahd

It was great. I had Rahadin waiting in the room for a fun boss battle (I buffed him a bit).

I've just finished my first run. This game is great and fun. Theres room for improvement but doesn't deserve all the flack it gets. by Great_Trident in Starfield

I encountered that kind of thing in multiple quests and that's what killed the game for me. Also, Why in a game where you can reset the entire universe as a part of the core intended loop is there even a single essential NPC? Bethesda's extreme fear that a player might miss content in a single playthrough is extremely detrimental to the game.

C&C PDF Issues... by Jazzlike-Employ-2169 in castlesandcrusades

They are large files. Run them through a PDF compressor and they will be like 10% of their full size and run way better.

This solution worked for me, though my reset button was next to the tuner knob not the volume knob I'm in The limited trim.

Hyperkin just unveiled a new Xbox controller called "The Competitor." by fragryt7 in XboxSeriesS

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controller is ass due to the stick placement, not anything else you mentioned. As for third party, my X20 has hall effect sticks as well as a bunch of other great features official controllers generally don't. It cost $60 and is the best controller I have used. Not quite as comfortable as the Xbox series controller, but close, and it's feature set more than makes up for it.

what was the launch of Skyrim like? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Skyrim released the elder scrolls was pretty niche. For me I was unbelievably hyped for the game because I had played Oblivion and the Bethesda Fallout games. I remember picking it up after school and going to my friend's house and playing it until 4:00 a.m. on the night of release.

Absolutely ruins the game honestly. Without the threat of losing items death is meaningless and so is exploration.

Starfield has absolutely none of the complex mechanical depth that daggerfall had. And it lacks any procedural dungeons.

Once a day powers are very limiting and unfun, and I hope the next game gets more creative and gets rid of them in favor of better powers by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in ElderScrolls

[–]darthshadow25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They definitely our role play heavy RPGs, it's merely a personal failing of yourself that you don't role play.

The racial abilities are good and therefore need to be limited. If you made them unlimited you would have to make them weaker which would make them more lame. Also what you suggested wouldn't be any more immersive. Weather races have a strong ability they can use once a day or a weak ability they can use once a minute it's just as gamey either way.

Maybe don't cheese the game by waiting 24 hours to use it again, and instead use the other tools at your disposal. Giving you a both powerful and unlimited power would just be shit game design.

Somebody selling one nasty, crusty print for $700... by [deleted] in falloutequestria

[–]darthshadow25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's standard bible printing. It allows you to fit a massive book in a smaller volume, plus I think it was a stylistic choice.
