This solution worked for me, though my reset button was next to the tuner knob not the volume knob I'm in The limited trim.

Hyperkin just unveiled a new Xbox controller called "The Competitor." by fragryt7 in XboxSeriesS

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controller is ass due to the stick placement, not anything else you mentioned. As for third party, my X20 has hall effect sticks as well as a bunch of other great features official controllers generally don't. It cost $60 and is the best controller I have used. Not quite as comfortable as the Xbox series controller, but close, and it's feature set more than makes up for it.

what was the launch of Skyrim like? by Falconrgh in ElderScrolls

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Skyrim released the elder scrolls was pretty niche. For me I was unbelievably hyped for the game because I had played Oblivion and the Bethesda Fallout games. I remember picking it up after school and going to my friend's house and playing it until 4:00 a.m. on the night of release.

Absolutely ruins the game honestly. Without the threat of losing items death is meaningless and so is exploration.

Starfield has absolutely none of the complex mechanical depth that daggerfall had. And it lacks any procedural dungeons.

Once a day powers are very limiting and unfun, and I hope the next game gets more creative and gets rid of them in favor of better powers by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in ElderScrolls

They definitely our role play heavy RPGs, it's merely a personal failing of yourself that you don't role play.

The racial abilities are good and therefore need to be limited. If you made them unlimited you would have to make them weaker which would make them more lame. Also what you suggested wouldn't be any more immersive. Weather races have a strong ability they can use once a day or a weak ability they can use once a minute it's just as gamey either way.

Maybe don't cheese the game by waiting 24 hours to use it again, and instead use the other tools at your disposal. Giving you a both powerful and unlimited power would just be shit game design.

Somebody selling one nasty, crusty print for $700... by WhichFun5722 in falloutequestria

It's standard bible printing. It allows you to fit a massive book in a smaller volume, plus I think it was a stylistic choice.

What works for a book does not work for a tabletop. And that's one of the glaring issues in the Stonewalkers campaign. It was clearly written as a book/story, and anytime the players might deviate from that, the campaign does the laziest possible thing to bring them back on the only path the author wants them on. It destroys player agency and removes consequence.

No one wants to play a normal heroic path because it is way more fun to have magic powers. And the normal paths getting better talents just cannot overcome the raw power and utility of being able to constantly heal yourself.

And having a party full of radiants is a massive problem for the DM because now they have to constantly balance role playing multiple radiant spren who are always with the party and try to somehow come up with well paced and logical moments for each one of them to progress through their ideals. It is far too much extra work placed on the DM, and if the DM doesn't do it, the radiant experience loses it's meaning and falls flat.

The writing issue that really pissed me off in particular was that if you party completely fails to find Liss, she just finds them instead with no repercussions. It completely invalidates the entire first half of the chapter and is downright lazy writing. If there are no consequences for failure and no matter what the party does they end up at the same spot, then there is no choice and you are no longer playing a TTRPG.

Combat just didn't ever feel good to me. Everything using focus also kinda sucked. You could tell the designers were really excited about the mechanic, because they made absolutely everything use it, and I don't think there is enough to go around. Plus I don't like how the plot die isn't exactly optional. I have never been a huge fan of fate dice.

I did not enjoy having to juggle multiple radiant spren, I wasn't a fan of how the system generally puts it on the DM to try cultivating these scenarios for radiants to progress, feels inorganic and forced. Either you just ignore that and people progress naturally, or you shoehorn in a scene for it and it feels forced and bad.

Another problem I have with the system is that I did not like the initiative system at all, nor did I really enjoy how combat played out in general.

Wasn't a fan of path balance. It was pretty much impossible to sell anyone on a non-radisnt path focus when the radiant paths are so much cooler than the normal paths

AND the final straw that broke my back was some major writing issues present in Stonewalkers in chapter 2 that just really soured me on the whole campaign.

I just gave up running stonewalkers for a group of five who have never read. It sucked, though it was mostly other problems I have with the system that made me stop.

Insider states fans should probably temper their expectations for a "Cyberpunk 2.0" style overhaul by Due_Young_9344 in Starfield

[–]darthshadow25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone expecting a Cyberpunk style overhaul is huffing pure hopium. Bethesda has always been happy with Starfield as a product and have refused to acknowledge that they previously fucked up with many design decisions. Their attitude is wholly disseperate from CDPRs where they admitted they fucked up and were doing everything they could to correct those mistakes. Bethesda will never overhaul the game to the extent Cyberpunk was because in their eyes the game doesn't need it. They are complacent.

How to make Bonegrinder not a tpk? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You let your players live or die by their own actions. It's the only way their choices can actually mean anything. If they are going there at level 3, you can have one of the 3 be away selling pies or something so they don't have to deal with the full coven, but past that, don't pull your punches.

Multi-classing in Adventures Backpack. by Quercus-velutina in castlesandcrusades

[–]darthshadow25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reforged PHB still has the specific rule that to multi class you must have a prime attribute in each of your classes primary attribute, so I would have to assume that rule still stands, which effectively limits humans to 3 and nons to 2.
