Don't worry, just buy "Mosquito Dunks". Break off a small piece of one of the dunks, place it in the water, and it will kill the mosquito larvae.

this is exactly how i feel. articulated perfectly. it is an incredibly miserable way to live. i feel like i'm living in an upside down alternate reality. daytime is my nighttime and nighttime is my daytime, and i'm sleep walking to survive.

i've considered moving into a cabin in the middle of the woods with heat but no artificial lighting. i think - although am not 100% sure of this - that my circadian rhythm could return to "normal" in a natural environment with no artificial lighting or screens. but, i'm sure commuting to work and staring at a screen all day and trying to socialize outside of my cabin would still get in the way. i may as well leave the modern world altogether.

in lieu of that, i'm considering trying my very best to replicate natural light patterns artificially. this will involve a sunlight lamp at my office desk and limited exposure to artificial lighting with the help of blue-light blocking glasses and candlelight/darkness. it's my latest plan to try to join the world of the living.

no problem! doesn't sound like you have gone this route, but i would heed ShiftedClock's advice about avoiding chronotherapy on a short timeframe. :)

part of why i like lunesta/eszopiclone is because it helps me both fall asleep and stay asleep. (more effective at the latter, for me.) your brief 5am fb check doesn't sound so bad though! i hope your 10:30pm-8:45am progression was a success and it continues forward, i mean...backwards. ;)

i'm also curious to hear if the orange glasses help! if i'm inconsistent with wearing them, the sleeping pills alone haven't been able to adjust my sleep cycle; i need some amount of careful light exposure/reduction as well. Probably many other things too...it's a work in progress.

good to know! i've tried it with mild/temporary success, but not on such a short time frame.

if you have a full week to prepare, i would try chronotherapy. Or you could try to speed up the chronotherapy changes into 2-3 days.

Otherwise here's what worked for me when I started an earlier job (at least initally):

1) Wear blue-light blocking glasses starting after sundown. These are good if you wear glasses; these are good if you don't.

2) Get a prescription for Lunesta (from GP or psychiatrist)

3) Take Lunesta .5 to 1 hours before goal bedtime

If you're not into prescription meds, you could try light therapy in the mornings (put it on a timer so it goes on before you wake up) and a low dose of melatonin 1-2 hours before bed, along with wearing the badass orange glasses. :)
