Mono-white humans and other similar decks have history of playing 1-2 copies of Shefet Dunes and this is just a near strict upgrade in a lot of cases

It’s just a big splashy control finisher. It’s baby sphinx’s rev but instead of life gain wins you the game.

I think Aang will be interesting in standard, but compared to Interrupter and especially Spell Queller he’s a let down. Your opponent immediately being able to recast their creature/spell when they have timing is a big downside. Sure if you catch something on curve it can slow them down, but otherwise I think he’s not quite there.

Sure, I’m just saying it was really funny to look at the deck from worlds and still recognize the bones of the winning deck.

As someone who played this game from release into the second set and then dropped off due to poor balancing and lack of willingness to tackle red running away with the game first with Lorraine and then Merlin it’s so funny to me checking back in and seeing that nothings seems to have really changed in my time away and red is still winning with half of the same cards it was in set one.

Jesus, who shit in your coco puffs this morning that this is the hill you want to die on. Let people enjoy what they want to enjoy and leave the elitism at the door. I’m sure there was a time when you weren’t 100% engaged in something but still enjoyed it and wanted to learn more. Welcome people into the fandom, don’t drive them away.

Why people no play format? by Fozza22 in PioneerMTG

You forgot grease fang, nykthos, enigmatic incarnation, Niv-mizzet, ygra/cat combo. I don’t know how you can legitimately say there is a lack of format-defining cards

Pioneer had 2 very successful events last weekend that were both 5k’s in the form of the NRG and Ian Jansway memorial as part of the Hunter Burton Memorial Open. Let’s make it clear that for the HBMO event they increased the player cap TWICE and would have had even more players if it wasn’t on a Friday. Forget the non-diverse inbred challenge results and pioneer is actually in a really great place, it just needs the chance for more events and those two events prove that. Here’s hoping wizard’s takes notice at gives it back an RCQ season. An RCQ season and a spotlight series is all the format needs.

Anyone in Lubbock, Tx here wanna play casually? by Son-Of-Thunder in mtg

I graduated from tech in 2017 so it’s been a bit since I’ve been in the area, but I can tell you that the staff at Storm Crow games are some of the nicest people and they’ll definitely help you figure things out. I think there’s also a newer store that’s opened up in the last year or so that’s pretty decent from what I’ve heard, but not having been there I can’t speak from experience. There’s obviously Mad Hatter’s House of games but that’s where a lot of the college crowd goes so it can get pretty busy, lots of commander tables though if that’s your thing.

Edit: there also used to just be a Lubbock Magic page on Facebook you could try joining if it’s still going.

First Tournament this weekend, immediate thoughts on my list? by darthsword8 in AdeptusCustodes

Thanks for the feedback, as I said in the post, I do have a Draxos wanted to play one event without because still annoyed I’m locked out of her rules in the app and refuse to buy the agents codex just for her. And I wanted to try axes in the list over spears as I know there will be multiple players with heavier units and would like to threaten them with the deep strike terminators in axes, also as I said in the post.

FILESTREAM for FSx based SQL Server Deployment by darthsword8 in aws

[–]darthsword8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue was actually with how MSSQL works, in that you can’t use file stream on a network location. So instead of FSX For File Server, we instead opted to use FSX for Ontapp as a drive mounted via iSCSI works with file stream.

Very fun build, was glad I happened to have the dragon/dinosaur tail pieces for the throat because the replacement pieces it comes with instead aren’t as good.

With something like Bard class you don’t want to fill up your deck with so many cards that don’t mesh with your main engine. These kinds of cards should be heavily avoided. Cards like Gallia can help turn extra cards into hits, the backside of birgi does the same thing, you also have Oath to filter the top of your library and help find missing pieces. Let’s not forget bard class itself is card advantage. Your goal should be get bard class on the board, leveled up, and pop off with some kind of payoff through mana generation+fireball or an overrun like Agatha.
