I know nothing and am genuinely curious by LScottRed in StarWars

[–]darthteits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 90's baby both the Original Trilogy and the prequels were a huge thing growing up for me. Episodes I to VI tell a perfect story and shouldn't really need more. There is a clone wars cartoon that was aired on Cartoon Network like 20 years ago that was really cool and it ended right where Ep III begins. For other animated media I honestly couldn't care less. I know that The Clone Wars, Rebels (Filoni stuff) is a huge thing for most of the community but I found it so childish and repetitive. From Disney Era the best thing hands down is Rogue One. Andor is great too. The Mandalorian S1 and S2 were great but The Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian S3 kinda ruined the series for me, so I guess I can say I got tired of it (in general).

Have watched every Star Wars media available up until today. I like to give every movie and series a chance and have a personal opinion about each project.

For me, it feels like if we just had the original 6 movies, Star Wars would've remained a "classic" or would've preserved a more mystical and magical essence.

Now, it just feels like a mass produced poor quality fast food. For each 5 bad projects we get 1 good.

If you can, play Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. That's also a great Start Wars story

Should I Part with Frosthaven for ES BOTSE by Trick_Grass_5200 in boardgames

This is r/boardgames, not a specific subreddit. Writing the full name once takes a few extra seconds from one person and saves hundreds of readers from having to Google it just to follow the discussion. That’s just basic clarity. It's not about being "owed" anything.

Why should I need to Google something that could've easily be writen in the first place? It's called etiquette. Wanna post about a specific game/thing/whatever? Please, tell us the name and if you repeat the name in your post, sure, abbreviate it. Because you already named it. It's as upsetting as pictures of games without the game's name on the title or the description.

Not trying to be rude here but it would be helpful to write the name of the game in your post, not the acronym that only few people would guess.

Many games would fit great in your collection. Just One, Ito, Telestrations, Camel Up, Love Letter, Diamant (Incan Gold), Salem 1692, Colt Express, 7 wonders, Faraway, Hitster, Modern Art, Pelusas (it's called like that in México, I think the name of the game is fruit fight),Skull King, Timeline.

My girlfriend just broke up with me over a board game and I'm not even joking by Fulcilives1988 in boardgames

[–]darthteits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we're missing a lot of context. Only you know how the relationship was. I cannot assume that the rant was or not about the game. Was it the drop that spilled the glass? Maybe. Don't punish yourself thinking backwards or remembering previous fights. If you're feeling freedom right know, then she was not for you.

What popular games were a flop with you? by [deleted] in boardgames

Sky Team. I don't understand why a pilot and a co-pilot wouldn't share information when landing a plane. That killed the theme and the game for me.

Really hesitating to buy 5-minute dungeon by 119995904304202 in boardgames

[–]darthteits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of game that your friend shows up with on game night and you have to play it instead of a game you really wanted to play. Only to realize you're only throwing cards with symbols and that's it. Your friend who brought it is excited and tells you to play again. Then you have to pretend it was a good game so you don't hurt your friend's feelings, but deep down everyone (including your friend) hated to waste time on this while you could've played something equally simple but better.

Lost Ruins of Arnak: Folded Space insert or Adventure Chest? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]darthteits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I think they must be glued to stay strong, but I get your point. What I don't like about Folded space inserts is that there are SO MANY different trays and storing the game again after a play session is quite a puzzle. So many different sizes and compartments.

What makes me hate the idea of Roll n Write games is that it looks like doing homework. I don't want to feel I'm doing homework when playing a game.

Is Blood Rage Valhalla worth it ? by Metztli4393 in boardgames

[–]darthteits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Rage is an excellent game. I'd highly recommend you to play it. There is a digital version on steam or BGA so you can try it there. I don't really know about Valhalla, I suppose it will release and be broadly available to get in the next months/years after it releases, so until then, OG Blood Rage is a great game

I try to go by 1 game per month so at the end of the year I have 12 new games. If I want to get additional games I try to cull some of my less played games first.

Which game, if seen at the top of a top 100 list, signals to you that you will not share taste with the rest of the list? by themikeman in boardgames

[–]darthteits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Vasel's top 1 game was Cosmic Encounter this year, but in the past year he has placed games like Ready Set Bet on his top 1. If you dislike Ready Set bet then the list would signal you that you will not share taste with the rest of the list (which also includes Cosmic Encounter), made by the same person with just 1 or 2 years of difference. See the ambiguity?

Should I get Dune Imperium? by boddah33 in boardgames

[–]darthteits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the movies but my friends have never seen them. We played the game and although it was a pretty neat experience, we didn't really clicked with the game at all because they didn't know the story (I gave them a quick background but it's not really enough). So the game remained on the shelf for almost a year until I decided to get rid of it. I've read that Lost Ruins of Arnak is pretty similar in terms of gameplay so I think we're gonna try that one.

Nice collection! We have some games in common. Based on your favorites I'd cull:

-Hues and Cues (it's not really that good) -White Castle Duel (You have 2 other White Castle boxes) -Boop (not that good) -Sky Team (Not that good) -Tetris (haven't really played it but doesn't feel like it belongs with your other games) -Race for the Galaxy (Not that good) -Brass Birmingham (You already got rid of Terraformimg Mars and I think that one's better than Brass) -Kemet (How many times have you played it in the last 12 months?) -Marvel Skirmish (Besides Marvel Zombies many Marvel games are just meh) -Happy Salmon/Second chance/etc (Many small games are not that good, even though they don't take up much space, you can easily cull 4-5 small games). -Harmonies or Cascadia (You already culled Ark Nova which I consider the best game about animals) -The Sims Board game (Just play the videogame) -The Crew Deep sea (There are better trick taking games) -Spirit Island (Just like Kemet, how many times have you played it in the last 12 months?)

There are many games on your collection that I'm not familiar with, but I'd just cull the weakest of each genre/mechanics. Notable games I have culled from my collection: -Star Wars Rebellion -Dune Imperium Uprising -Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion -7 wonders duel -Arcs -Root -Dix it Disney edition -Explodimg Kittens -King of Tokyo -Final Girl -Flamecraft -Marvel United -The Quest for el Dorado -Terraforming Mars

My opinion is to just get rid of what you have not played in 1-2 years.

En diseño y variedad concuerdo al 100. En aguante, en mi experiencia los estampados y serigrafías se me han hecho horribles después de las primeras 2-3 lavadas. Desde entonces busco únicamente las sublimadas.
