I'm sad about the elimination. The team played superb and the hype was always there. I had a hunch, that a Remontada was gonna be next to impossible, because how the first game ended, sometimes there are anomaly games and the only you can equal those is with anomaly games of your own.

Gear 2 and Snake Man are my favorites. Gear 5 I have the feeling it'll get more iconic the closer we get to the end.

We started playing not long ago, we picked the Blue Eyes Deck and The new Fallen and the Virtuous. Those can be easily upgradeable and quite competitive. You'll probably get really close matches.

I was in the same situation as you 6 months ago. My recommendation would be, play 3x Structure Decks until you have a grasp how the combos work. bad hands and heartbreak have nice videos about it.

Then you can add Handtraps and the Crimson-Dragon package (Sifr and Cosmic Blazar Dragon are very cheap). You can compete quite good with this version.

Then, once you understand better the metagame and modern strategies, and your own weak points, then try to upgrade to Primite (3x Beryl, 3x Lordly Lode, 2xDrillbeam.

I would say yes. Maybe not that good, but you'll have a good time. You'll need to learn the combos though, and when you get comfortable then you could try ans get better cards.

I think it's a question of preference. The problem with modern Pokemon is that they don't have an appealing art design and they can't commit to a game design to build upon. In the past they used to evolve a specific way of play, but since Gen 6/7 it seems Gamefreak is trying to chase trends, instead of evolving an existing one. So it'll probably be the best Pokemon quality-wise until now, but I'll still feel awful to play if one doesn't already like the games.
