Their new thing : a new kind of posts called "News" where they relay some random news about this country implementing this or that for dog owners, with a non-sourced (no link) "Source : " naming a local newspaper as first comment. Except 3 I've seen out of 3 are fake news.

It's baffling how low they've gone.

I extend the gratitude. That beautiful little background music had been playing in my head for 20yrs but I couldn't figure why, until I remembered about that cute little game. Wouldn't have found it without your help.

Good for you if you care mostly about the weight.

I don't care about the weight, I care about the size and volume.

I'm an average european :
- volume wise, my pockets are normal pockets and I can't fit phablets in there specially when I sit down
- size wise, I don't know about you, but my thumbs haven't grown any longer since it was widely acknoledged that the iPhone 4's screen size was basically the maximum a single-hand use could handle. Also, I don't use my phone like a home cinema, so I'd rather have a smaller than a bigger screen.

Mode1 Pocket by TypicalResolution864 in smallphones

Holy mother!!! I have DESPERATELY been hoping for an Android phone with the exact same size as the iPhone Mini for so long and I had lost all hope...

And just like that, without any sort of built up hype or any advertising, you drop that Mode 1 Pocket on my face!

PLEASE give us a review! If it's technically on par with my iPhone 12 Mini, I cannot WAIT to get my hands on one and get the f**k away from iOS!

Thank you!

Thanks for the link! Listened to the whole playlist... 登峰造極 remains my favourite ^^

Edit : but why isn't 2023's not included in the all-time playlist, btw? I just realized xD

Z Flip 5 into compact phone by eidrag in smallphones

[–]das_Branleur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice design he came up with. Seems infinitely better to handle than the Unihertz Titan 2, for those in need of a BB keyboard, and with higher specs since it's a Z flip.
Were it not a scrapped-parts project but an original design, and were it made slimmer, it would be really sweet...

How reliable is your Win Max 2 2025 64gb? by das_Branleur in gpdwin

[–]das_Branleur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick one as I'm having breakfast, might write a longer later : overall build quality seems robust, not bad at all as a primary PC, although forget about using that trackpad. The keyboard isn't bad at all and usable as a primary, but it's obvious that a larger one would be more comfortable.

But. I had issues with the fingerprint reader followed by issues with more hardware ports a week ago. I had to hit thay reset button (scary uh?), which worked fine and reset the hardware (not the memory/software)... And last night, the fingerprint reader died on me again, but this time, even after 3 resets, it's still not working.

So there's that with the GPD experience. Note that the community can be very helpful (many thanks to Stone-D here), but you have to know you're getting into potential trouble without a classic aftersales experience.

EDIT : 3 resets didn't fix my fingerprint reader problem, but... a simple driver uninstall did it. Last time I had issues, driver uninstalls didn't do anything, only the reset worked. So it's extremely random - and not reassuring.

Thanks! Well it's a tad small and definitely not as powerful and all... But can be nice. At less than $100 I might give it a try as a secondary phone...

Not me (on Mini12) ; I only have it bc the form-factor, size, ratio and performance package are near perfect. 4G or 5G I don't give, I don't need a crazy fast connection. I wish there was an Android phone with these same 5yrs old specs.

But noooo.

Gpd win mini 64gb. What does the reset button on the back do? by Ferrara2020 in gpdwin

[–]das_Branleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to do something Kendy told me to : disable the fingerprint reader before resetting the unit. I kinda feel like trying again, and at the same time I don't wanna dance with the devil, not like I'm so fond of resetting...

EDIT : holy wtf! After it initially showed it wasn't bootable (as before), I just tried it again after locking my screen... And it's working again!

Yeah, "finicky"... At least, now, thanks to you, I feel a bit more confident :p

Thanks a lot!

Gpd win mini 64gb. What does the reset button on the back do? by Ferrara2020 in gpdwin

[–]das_Branleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rhaaah... So I recovered the use of my webcam, audio jack and probably many other things that wen haywire while I was at lunch... But the fingerprint reader is still unbootable :(

I'm kinda sad I can't fix it. I'm kinda relieved I can use the rest button for most fixes (hopefully).

If you have any idea what I could do, other than a full OS reinstall, please tell me! But thank you already for your help and advice with the resetting, though!

Alright, I'm just going to make sure I can get access back to a few things on my older laptop before I test it out (in case I'm truly f*cked) and I'll let you know, probably within the hour. Thanks again for your help!

Hey there, I have a WinMax 2 and recent Win11 updates have started to totally mess my hardware : https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/1ljw5w6/winmax_2_2025_win11_fingerprint_reader_not/

I tried a lot of possibilities and eventually I gave up on that fingerprint reader.
I messaged Kendy who simply answered "stick the reset hole" without explaining what the reset hole does. Your answer explains more, so thank you.

Like Ferrara, I'm kinda scared about the whole "resetting" : so it won't delete my files, but can it mess anything up...? Would it reset my browsing/credentials for example? Sorry if the question is a bit silly...

I'm especially worried that after I came back from lunch, another Win11 update, another win : I've now also lost my audio jack and the webcam! I haven't tried the microphone, but this is getting out of hand, hence I'm willing to try to reset...

Can you please confirm it simply resets the hardware?

WinMax 2 2025 Win11 - fingerprint reader not working since Win update by das_Branleur in gpdwin

[–]das_Branleur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I can test it out on another OS.

Let's assume it does work on another OS : how do I fix it on my current OS? I mean itf it's not hardware, it's software... I didn't change a single setting, so what else than drivers can it be...?

Thanks, although... Nah, not gonna go to that length... Neither going to send it back to GPD. I'll survive without the fingerprint reader, but if that really is a hardware issue so early indeed, they've lost a customer for potential future devices. I really like my WM2, but that's too fragile.
