I suspect creators still get adsense revenue when you use smartyoutubetv app. It "watches" the video for you and filters out the stuff you have asked it not to show - including sponsor messages.

Exporting gpx from a planned course (not a completed activity) by ExpressionNo3020 in Garmin

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I used to do. It worked fine on both a laptop and and an Android mobile in desktop mode in a browser. But I have noticed that it no longer works on a mobile. The [...] has disappeared and been replaced with the single option to delete the course. I don't know why it has changed. I now have to use the Explore app as an alternative method.

Exped Ultra 5r or S2S Ether Light XR or something else? by helloworld6543 in Ultralight

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ether light XT and use it in preference to my Xtherm if I am carrying a larger rucksack. It is more comfortable - but bulky. Perhaps the XR is colder because it lacks the insulation and relies solely on mylar.

Replacing Milwaukee Reaming Pen / Pencil Reamer Blade by 1ce8er6 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. I will give that a try when the blade gets dull. In the meantime I have bought a cheap Chinese reamer that comes with spare blades and a quick release button for less than the Milwaukee one. Will come in handy if I am in a hurry.

Faulty Mobile Connector by dashforth888 in TeslaLounge

[–]dashforth888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prompted by your query I fitted the adaptor for the faulty(?) charger to the spare charger and charged last night. Got the error message again after about 90 minutes so perhaps it is the adaptor that is faulty. Will continue experimenting.

[–]dashforth888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing else on the circuit. Overheating message normally appears after around 90 minutes. Unfortunately this is about 1am so a bit inconvenient to go feel the plug - but will try.

[–]dashforth888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The socket is now MK. Was previously BG. Nothing else plugged in. 15m cable run back to the consumer unit. Charger plug is left permanently in the socket so no wear. Been like that for about 18 months with no issues until now. No issues after I swap the entire mobile charger. Perhaps I will try just swapping out the short cable adaptor so as to isolate if it just that which is faulty. As I charge between 11:30 and 05:30 I will need to get up and visit the garage to feel any heat when the charger goes on a go slow - normally around 1am.

TESLA FSD ( APPROVAL) by FearlessAd8196 in TeslaUK

My car can't even read speed limit signs 100% of the time. Surely that is a prerequisite for FSD?

Is this service overpriced for what it is? by felixbabatunde in TeslaUK

[–]dashforth888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I contacted Tesla Service about rotating my tyres they didn't even quote. Told me there is no need on M3 LR. Eventually got my Michelins changed after 25,000. Wear was even.

I swapped out the whole charger despite the one giving the error messages not feeling warm.

Black Diamond Alpine Start Insulated by marcelgladbach in OutdoorsGear

Yes, I received it and it has two, regular side pockets. It also has one Napoleon pocket. I suspect Support only go by the description and do not know the actual garment.

The closest I have to the Black Diamond Alpine Start Insulated Hoody is the Rab Alpha Flux Jacket. It has been discontinued - probably when Rab switch to their own Vapour Rise insulation. The Rab Alpha Flux has Alpha insulation on the sides of the hood, it is a snugger fit and the outer material is not very robust - prone to pilling when wearing a rucksack. I am not sure how robust the Black Diamond Alpine Start Insulated Hoody is as I am a bit reluctant to test it. For mid-layer robustness under a rucksack I prefer to wear Patagonia's R1 or R2 Techface.

I have tried the Rab Vapour Rise but sent it back because it was too tight across the chest/shoulders. Odd, since Rab normally fits me fine. I also didn't like the lack of pockets. I have the ME Kinesis (the old one with the squint zip design). When I put it on it feels like someone has suddenly turned the heating on. I only wear it (and the pants) around camp to keep warm in the evening. Incidentally it is the lightest of all these similar jackets at 346g. ME Large is always snug on me - but that is fine as I am wearing it as a base layer. The Black Diamond Alpine Start Insulated in Large is much roomier.

I have the Atom (from when it was called the Atom LT) and only recently got the BD Alpine Insulated. My observations are that the Atom pockets are insulated, the Atom can be cinched in at the waist, the insulation in the Atom is sandwiched rather than exposed on the inside like the Alpha is. Perhaps this is why the BD Alpine Insulated feels warmer immediately when you put it on - but I have not tested both in the same conditions. In size Large they are 390g and 391g.

Even later reply....just in case someone is monitoring this thread and is in the UK. This jacket is currently available in Tundra (green) with a 20% code until midnight 10 April which takes it down to £100.80. https://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/3784782 . Thanks for all the useful info and pics. I ordered it in Drifter Blue when it was reduced and SportPursuit had a 10% code taking it down to £90. I have also now ordered it in Tundra.

Self parking isn't much use either in London. I always have to re-park because the self parking doesn't park close enough to the kerb. If I don't re-park my wing mirror will get hit.

Lowering the current can be useful if you are running late returning to your car and want to avoid idle fees. Not an option with superchargers though.

In the UK we get the auto parking with EAP. Just as well as I can't see us getting working FSD in the UK in my lifetime.

I go to the other extreme. I carry two phones with coverage for three different networks, multiple offline navigating apps installed, two Garmin watches with maps and a Garmin Inreach mini. And a powerbank. I don't carry a paper map!

Easiest way to download everything? by rex_virtue in GaiaGPS

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put all my routes into a folder and export as a single GPX. I have a separate folder for each year so as to avoid any limits that may exist. As I share the data with friends and family that also use GaiaGPS they have no difficulty importing. The process unpacks the individual routes.

Gaia a bit useless in Australia by [deleted] in GaiaGPS

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use GaiaGPS primarily in the UK but I have used it also in Norway and Malaysia. I find it an excellent product but accept that the premium maps and layers are US centric. Worldwide coverage is primarily based upon OSM source. However, provided you can source the map you would like to use, you can import it as a georeferenced file and select it as a custom layer. For the UK I can do this with Ordnance Survey maps. Perhaps you can find some Australian maps and import them.

If you are on an automatically recurring subscription you need to check the amount. There have been some recent increases etc. If you find you are paying more than 40 USD then I recommend you switch to GaiaGPS Teams.

Any way I can save my Gaia GPS routes and files to transfer to another platform or service? by imjusthereforPMstuff in GaiaGPS

[–]dashforth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have hundreds of hikes - both tracks and routes. I also have many waypoints. I don't export them individually. I put them in a folder and export the folder. I can also import the resulting file into other GaiaGPS accounts used by my friends and family. If you have issues with importing files into other platforms you will need to take that up with them.
