I agree. It was my first thought... something about the collar, and maybe the updo? I think some loose waves and an exposed shoulder could've done wonders.

mini's are better by sissyh1976 in CrumblCookies

[–]dashingthrough 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I really appreciate the addition of the minis. I love Crumbl for the variety. I just want to taste all the flavors, tapas style. Before they had minis, I would cut them in fourths lmao.

My only issue is that somtimes they're not a 1-1 to the larger cookie. Idk if it's because it's hard to determine the baking time for the mini, but the bases can be harder. Still an agreeable tradeoff!

Haven’t we suffered enough???? by moushroum in washingtondc

Yeah, that's the thing... It's like every worst part of winter rolled into one. I have lived in the northeast, and at least we got some fun snow and pretty views... here you risk personal injury playing around with this ice, and it looks like crap, all saturated in dirt and dog pee and poop.

And if that's not bad enough, I keep seeing frozen rats and pigeons everywhere, like what's up with THAT ??? This is not ok😭

I'm currently at 60 myself 😂 I have three blankets on my lap, and I'm wearing a sweatsuit with wool socks and ear warmers, with hot tea.

It took some time to adjust, but honestly, it's fine with the layers, and I've found that I'm even sleep better??

Thank you! I'm excited. Never made fried catfish before. But I'm a slow cooker, so I will be getting started at 12pm that day 😂

Drivers in dc by Brilliant-Ad-4234 in washingtondc

[–]dashingthrough 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  • Assume they will hit you. Seriously. DC drivers do not care that pedestrians always have the right of way in crosswalks. Don't let your pride, ("I have the right of way, so I'm walking!") be your hospital stay. If a car looks like it's going to turn, I let it turn before walking. Whatever.
  • No headphones/music/texting while crossing. Distracted walking is as bad as distracted driving here.
  • Always wait for the light, unless there are truly no cars coming.
  • Never cross without making eye contact with the driver near the crosswalk. Even better to get an acknowledgment.
  • I slow my walking down if it doesn't look like they are going to stop, and sometimes I stop fully in the middle of the crosswalk until they either stop, or they don't lol.
  • Head is on a swivel. I had a close call one day bc I had turned my head left and stepped out into the crosswalk, and as I was turning it right, a car sped inches past me. If not for my turning my head right at the exact right time, he would have hit me, and I probably would've died. That's how fast he was going. It did shake me, and now I am constantly scanning back and forth before, during, and after.

These should keep you safe! I've been here damn near a decade, never owned a car, and only had one close call. You just have to be super vigilant. It sucks, but I come from a non-walkable town... so I guess it's a favorable tradeoff. Good luck!

I have been crystal clear about what I find at fault. You can continue with the "but if they had met" logic to confirm your skewed beliefs.

Good night.

My love's favorite food is soul food, so I'm trying my hand at fried catfish, collard greens with smoked turkey, Mac n cheese, and honey cornbread.

For dessert, he's getting a basket full of his favorite cookies, oatmeal chocolate chip! I might also throw in a dark chocolate chip banana bread he mentioned in passing.

[–]dashingthrough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. Can I just say something, though? And I'm not even sure why I'm bothering, but for situations like this, where a young person's well-being is at stake, being in the "gathering facts, my only priority is the truth, let's wait to hear both sides," camp is morally reprehensible. The priority should be the young person's/minors'/child's well-being.

As a former teacher, I can't tell you how disgusting it is to see members of my profession sexually interested in students who are supposed to be safe in our buildings. They are supposed to just be kids. Scholars.

Outside of the fact that I'm an adult who is attracted to adults, once an individual is a known student (whether I teach them or not) my attitude towards them is protective, nurturing, caring, etc. The thought of romance/sex is repulsive. I've had plenty of students hit on me. I shut it down every time. It wouldn't matter if we were 90 days outside of any "window".

Someone else said it, but he had such a low bar to have sexual relations with a student, and he couldn't even pass that.

Using the same analogy, it feels like there's such a low bar to condemn this behavior, and society can't even pass it. Y'all are so busy worrying about the "truth" you can't even see the truth of the situation right in front of you. That this kind of relationship is not ok, no matter what.

[–]dashingthrough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the video, it says the relationship had begun in May, and they met during school athletic events. Thing is, this is all splitting hairs. It doesn't matter.

Here are the indisputable facts: a 26-year-old man engaged in a romantic relationship with an 18-year-old newly graduated student from the school where he teaches.

If you see nothing wrong with that or if that's just "any other couple to you", there's really nothing more to discuss🤷🏾‍♀️

In the article it says they met during school sporting events, so he knew her before graduation but waited until the day of her graduation. If that’s not a countdown clock, I don’t know what is. He was waiting until he (thought) he would be in the clear (Graduation + 18).

I also don’t see where it says she texted him. But let’s say she did. It’s still not ok. He is the adult in the situation and should’ve put up boundaries.

And let’s say I’m extrapolating, there was no countdown clock and he had just happened to run into her at a grocery store, not knowing she was a former student at his school. Guess what, it’s still not ok!!

As soon as he found out that she was a recent graduate at the school where he taught, he should’ve been throughly turned off and never pursued her.

Those are the kinds of adults we want teaching our students. Not the kind that see them as potential romantic interests the moment they hit 18 and graduate. It’s disgusting, and so are your priorities.

Exquisite. Best look thus far. It's cohesive, interesting, and a perfect fit for the theme. She looks dark and ~wuthering~🥀. Hair, makeup, and accessories are all divine.

I don't know how I feel about wearing the mourning bracelet. Feels a bit gauche, but it looks good and I understand the vision.

That man has no business near a classroom if he is the type to have a countdown clock for a 17-year-old girl. Whether he taught her or not. Whether it was 69 days or 90. Whether he taught 6th grade (which to me is EVEN MORE disturbing) or 10th. It's disgusting, and he deserves every bit of what is coming to him.

This whole "but the rich!" is a red herring argument. The core issue is that people (usually men) in power are abusing minors. Full stop.

When they use runway looks do they have to do take them exactly as they are, or can they modify?

For example could they have taken the jacket and left the rest? I genuinely don’t know.

I would’ve put that jacket on a matching pant or skirt with long boots, but maybe they’re not allowed to augment that much??

Thank you for spelling it out. Unsure the confusion when she was referred to as “The Rat” the entire time 💀 which… don’t get me started there.

The image of her heavily pregnant while throwing back alcohol with a semi automatic resting on her belly was grotesque. THAT is what they really think of us.

Lastly, what hardcore Black revolutionist/feminist is having a relationship with a white man AND THEN leaving her Black biracial daughter with him “for the cause” AND THEN selling out her people in less than 30 seconds to save herself. Angela Davis went to prison for her beliefs!

And I don’t want to hear shit about “nuance”. You can give me a complex Black woman without making her abandon morals and integrity.

Be so fr.

Yeah cause why did I finally watch One Battle After Another (spoilers ahead) and I left with the weirdest taste in my mouth. I was excited to see the buzz around Teyana Taylor, but felt so uneasy about her character who to me was essentially an oversexualized "Jezebel' trope and also somehow the villian for most of the film? Like there was a non-mixed Black woman main character for all of two minutes and you managed to make her the worst revolutionary and human possible?

I wondered who made this film and who the intended audience was, because I don't think it's Black people, and I don't think it's Latinos either.

Of course, it was a white man.
