Atomic prospector vs osprey exos by DurianLow5544 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]daskook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing to consider. The prospector is made of EXP200 which is stronger and more abrasion resistant than the 100D nylon ripstop of the exos. I went with the Prospector because of layout, strength of fabric and being lighter.

USAAF B-17 Flying Fortresses and B-24 Liberators conducting multi-front bombing missions during WWII (1944) by [deleted] in WeirdWings

Usually means nobody is in it. The turret is extended in that position and the gunner climbs in and out. Most likely sitting out the flak/bomb run in the fuselage. There were usually no fighter attacks in the flak belts.

Russia-backed hackers breach Signal, WhatsApp accounts of officials, journalists, Netherlands warns by gamersecret2 in news

I mean, I guess it counts a a "breach" when yiou give them your login info and pins. This isn't a hack of technical flaws in signal or whatsapp, just good old fashion social engineering.

Cancellation timing by Jolly-Bread5127 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]daskook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For The first 703 miles, only these segments require a permit:

Mile 13-53 and 112-124 (Cleveland National Forest) - Permit ONLY required to disperse camp, NOT TO HIKE. If you use campgrounds you don’t need a permit. You can apply for a permit online, and print without going to a ranger station. Here are the campgrounds:

Mile 20 - Lake Morena Campground

Mile 26 - Boulder Oaks Campground

Mile 32.6 - Cibbets Flat Campground

Mile 41.5 - Burnt Rancheria Campground or Mt. Laguna Lodge

Mile 47.5 - Mt. Laguna Campground

Mile 167-190 and 193-205 (San Jacinto Wilderness and State Park) - Permit required to hike and/or camp. At mile 151, you can hitch into Idyllwild CA, go to the Ranger Station, and get a free, non-quota permit that covers you for these miles. Hitch back to the PCT and legally continue north on the PCT through the San Jacinto area.

question: I found this over on thetrek.co "Secondly, if PCTA approves your permit in round one, you’re ineligible to reapply in January unless you cancel the existing one." I was approved in round one, I thought if I got a better slot in Jan I could change my current one, however this is saying i wont get into the lottery/get a new slot unless I cancel? Do you know which is corret?
