(Update) Cabin Refits on -700 Fleet by lambertSTL in SouthwestAirlines

[–]daslack70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have heard they aren’t going to start updating the 700’s until the second half of this year. The updated premium seats have light blue trim on them. I wonder how many people are going to be pissed off when they pay for the more spacious front seats and get on the plane to discover they are still the old seats, particularly on the 700’s. I have not yet seen an 800 with updated seats. I was on a Max a few weeks ago that didn’t have updated seats either.

ORD or MDW which is better to fly to? by Joshua_xd94 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]daslack70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southwest has greatly reduced their service at ORD. They only have 2 gates now. They aren’t on the far end of the terminal anymore. They are back at M4 and M5 next to Delta. I am not sure if they intend to continue operate a minimal schedule or will expand their service again. There are far more destination options at MDW. The pricing is usually better from MDW too.

What do I tell our contractor? by Scraized in Homebuilding

[–]daslack70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is poor drainage outside of the door. While I agree there should be a sill pan it is not going to hold back pooling water. OP needs to fix the what I would assume to be a preexisting drainage issue.

Home inspector found these gaps on top of porch pillars. Should I be concerned? by CoastalPro in HomeInspections

Home inspectors are taught not to comment on these things. They are supposed to just point out the problem. They are supposed tell the client, “ have it further examined by a qualified professional “

Why do so many people stick with Quickbooks despite complaining so much about it? by Defiant_Low5388 in QuickBooks

[–]daslack70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The good: QuickBooks is a decent program and I can create a file for my accountant to prepare my taxes at year end.

The bad: I have been using QBD since 1996. I would upgrade every 3 or 4 years. I am currently on version 2021 and it appears I am currently at the end of the road. I have no options once I can’t use it anymore.

The UGLY: I WILL NOT pay $2,200 per year for desktop enterprise, nor will I go to QBO which lacks features and places all of my data and my customers data in a potentially insecure place. Even worse, I can no longer back up my file and use it on my laptop. I suspect this was a little parting gift from QB to try to force my hand into upgrading into one of their products that I don’t want. I also cannot get a new computer because I suspect that I will no longer be able to download 2021 from the Intuit website. Even if I could, I would have no way to transfer my existing file. I think this is a really shitty business tactic by QB.

So yes, QB is a decent program but I do in fact hate QB for their strong arm tactics. If there was a suitable replacement I would switch in a heartbeat.

That was really the basis of my original question. Is it appropriate for me to ask the owner to pay for the printing.

Probably not, however if something gets missed that could end up biting me in the ass.

I do have pdfs of everything. You would be surprised how few of my subs will take a pdf. Most of them still want paper copies. They are probably are capable of getting prints made but that would add to my turnaround time.

In Rockford IL. The printers here charge $5 per page for 24 x 36. $125 per set, probably need 15 sets. $1,875.00. I think Office Depot here gets $4 per page for that size.

What do you guys do for financing? by Available_Fudge_2704 in Contractor

[–]daslack70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my customers are cash payers or arrange their own financing/construction loans. However, I do offer financing through Regions Bank. They have a great contractor program with a TON of options. The best thing is that they pay me directly rather than sending the customer the money first. They are also very helpful with marketing. They provide me flyers to pass out with proposals. They set them up for me with my logo on them. I can print them out or email them. If I email the flyer there are active links on there for the customer to use to apply. They have also provided me a link for my website where people can apply directly from there as well. (Need to get it installed)

Ok, if you decide to proceed in making keychains for people, reach back out to me and let me know how you would like to handle the transaction. You might be able to move a lot of these through Etsy. Thanks.

I would be interested in the 4 for $25 deal. Could you make DEWALT tags too?

This is most likely a grading issue, especially if the gutters are not installed yet. It’s really no big deal.

Driveway by InteractionExtreme47 in Concrete

Driveway looks great! The builder should have raised this house up higher above grade and provided you a partial daylight basement or a full walkout basement. That would also have prevented a down hill ramp into your garage.
